Build Overview

This is my leveling guide for Ice Shot Deadeye, swap to the endgame guide after campaign.

While this is a Ice Shot leveling guide, you unfortunately don't unlock the skill until lvl 31, so you have to start off with Lightning Arrow and Lightning Rod.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vendor regex:
Act 1:
"!Mace|Staff|Spear|Cross|Plate|Cuira|Robe|Raime|Vest|Mantl|Raise|Parry" "s: (am|ri|be|bow)|movem|[edgl] to.att|[3-9]\d% to.*Bow Skill|[2-4]\d% to.*res|[5-9]\d to.*life|to.*(int|str)"

Act 2+: "!Mace|Staff|Spear|Cross|Plate|Cuira|Greathe|Mitts|Greav|Robe|Raime|Circle|Tiara|Vest|Mantl|Crown|Cuffs|Raise|Parry" "s: (am|ri|be|bow)|movem|to.*(int|str)|[edgl] to.att|[3-9]\d% to.*Bow Skill|[2-4]\d% to.*res|[5-9]\d to.*life"

(You copy and paste this into your vendor window, to easily see items you might want to buy)

Bow: Once you reach lvl 16, you want to make a good Recurve Bow. This weapon will last until lvl 33, so go all in with supplies. Alchemy/regal/exalt until it's 6 mod. Try a few different bases with transmute/aug, if you get a high tier prefix, regal and triple exalt slam (or use a essence instead of regal if you found one).

Bow lvl upgrades: lvl 16 for Recurve Bow, ilvl 33 for Tier 6 flat rolls (can be Dualstring Bow or Cultist Bow, while this isn't a chaos build, cultist bow has good dps). Make sure the item is ilvl 33 before crafting on it, (hold down alt on the item). And finally lvl 46 for both Artillery Bow and Tier 5 flat rolls (once again make sure it's ivl 46 before crafting on it). These are your 3 major bows for campaign and at each lvl you want to fully invest into these bows, make sure they're decent before exalt slamming/using artificer orb (just want high tier %phys or higher tier flat rolls).

Flask: Remember to constantly upgrade your life/mana flask throughout campaign, you can always buy a new one at the vendor when you meet the lvl requirements for the next tier (lvl 10, 16, 23, 30, 40, 50 and 60).

Quiver: One with +lvls and high amount of flat damage, the base isn't too important.

Boots: Movement speed on boots is also extremely good if you can find them, try to search the vendor every 1-2 lvls. I would never swap out movement speed boots, only replace them with other boots that have movement speed.

Other gear:
Ideally you should stick to evasion or evasion/es hybrid gear, but use whatever looks best at the time.
Helmet/belt/amulet are good slots to acquire attributes (str on belt, dex or int on helmet).

Besides that you're just looking for life/resist on gear, but flat damage is the most important on gloves/rings. High evasion chest is also quite good for defense if you find one.

-Important
Always salvage weapons with quality for whetstones and always salvage items with sockets for artificers orb, this is extremely important for gear upgrades throughout the campaign.

I also personally prefer to vendor all rares for gold to gamble in act 3 or act 4 for better gear.

Lesser Jeweller's orb priority - Snipe -> Ice Shot -> Freezing Mark -> Herald of Ice
Quality Priority - Freezing Mark -> Herald of Ice -> Snipe

This is the only big swap in campaign (at lvl 31 you'll swap Lightning Arrow for Ice Shot). While it is a bit of buttons at first, it's not that bad once you know what you're doing.

This swap requires at least 3 skill gems (one lvl 7 and two lvl 5 or 6 gems) and 4-5 support gems. So make sure you save these gems as you're lvling, you should usually have spare gems by lvl 24. Keep in mind the lvl 7 gem Has to be Freezing Mark and this skill is massive for freezing enemies, while giving a massive damage buff at the same time. If you have a 2nd lvl 7 gem, it should be Snipe.

Always keep Snipe at the highest available gem lvl you have access to and get Lightning Arrow to lvl 7 (stop upgrading after, because you swap to Ice Shot once you unlock a lvl 9 gem in act 3).

Frost Bomb Will only work if it's high enough lvl. At lvl 3 it'll affect enemies at lvl 25 or below, lvl 4 is 29 and lvl 5 is 32(So at lvl 5 it'll work for all of act 2). You'll drop this skill mid act 2 or start of act 3, as you'll lack the intelligence to keep lvling this skill, feel free to drop it when you swap to Snipe if you struggle with a lot of buttons.

If you feel like you're lacking freeze buildup, remember to constantly use Ice-Tipped Arrows as this activates Hail. You can also use Escape Shot to help with freeze buildup, but I never needed this in any of my runs.

Essentially the goal is to freeze the boss, press Barrage into a perfect window Snipe. (if you struggle with Snipe, you can takeout Window of Opportunity I for Elemental Focus, but it's not that bad).

Boss Rotation: use Ice-Tipped Arrows before the boss spawns, cast Freezing Mark, shoot Lightning Arrow 3-4 times, cast Freezing Salvo. If the boss is not frozen, use escape shot/salvo till it's frozen. Once the boss is frozen, cast Barrage into Snipe.

For general clear, I just use Ice-Tipped Arrows, Freezing Mark for the as extra buff and Lightning Arrow(because of Hail, lightning arrow will freeze normal monsters for the mark buff).

While I don't use it myself, Escape Shot can also help you build freeze if you feel lack you're struggling. But Freezing Salvo and Ice-Tipped Arrows should be more than enough. At lvl 31, freezing enemies become insanely easy because Ice Shot has massive freeze buildup, but Lightning Arrow with Ice-Tipped Arrows gets the job done.

Take whatever attribute you need at the time, you'll default to dex if you don't need anything. You should also lookout for good attribute amulets or a strength belt to help out with requirements later on.

Your first lvl 5 support gem should be Charged Mark for Freezing Mark. This will give you consistent shocks on bosses for even more damage.

Why use weapon set 1 and 2, if I am using only one bow?

20
D
DeadApril•9d ago

it's for freezing mark skill. So u have staff for weapon set 2, and bind ur freezing mark cast only with that weapon set. And ur primary skill like "Ice shot" -> only for weapon set 1 (your bow). And every time ur cast mark - all green passives and staff bonuses will work. And u don't have to manually switch weapon sets

P.s. That's not my native language. Hope you will understand me

I understand weapon swapping but I dont see a secondary weapon to use on the swap so where is mark benefitting?

Fedayn77•8d ago

Because you can share the same set of weapons for both the primary and secondary slots

I still need to figure out it but when we switch to weapon set passives, I am not sure the best way to do it beyond doing a full tree respec

jrock2004•1 month ago

Make sure you have nothing in 2nd weapon slot. You then can right click the "I" above your weapon and it sets the same one to both 1 and 2
