The Third Edict update for Path of Exile 2 will introduce a new category of chase items that drastically shift endgame buildcraft: Lineage Support Gems.

Lineage Support Gems are a new type of Support Gem that can be socketed and used to support your Skill Gems. However unlike normal Support Gems, these are not obtained from using an Uncut Support Gem. Instead, Lineage Support Gems are an endgame addition, providing powerful and often niche or situational bonuses that can enable new builds. There are approximately 40 new Lineage Support Gems coming to Path of Exile 2 in The Third Edict update, with more planned for future releases.

These new gems may provide bonuses that are significant upgrades compared to normal Support Gems, but often come with an impactful downside that must be considered. For example Ratha's Assault is a Lineage Support Gem that provides similar but stronger bonuses compared to Double Barrel Support. However by using Ratha's Assault, you give up the ability to reload bolts normally.

Lineage Support Gems are designed to bolster the endgame, not just in terms of build diversity and creativity, but also with exciting potential loot and the opportunity to chase valuable drops via target farming specific content.

A Lineage Support Gem dropping exclusively from a Boss
Some Lineage Support Gems will be added to the core drop pool for endgame content, so you'll always have the chance to happen upon a rare drop whilst mapping in the endgame. Notably however, other Lineage Support Gems are exclusive to specific content. For example Zarokh's Refrain only drops rarely from Zarokh at the end of the fourth floor in the Trial of the Sekemas.

Zarokh's Refrain causes supported spells to Echo multiple times
Whilst some of the new Lineage Support Gems are essentially versions of a classic Support Gem on steroids, other are simply all-powerful. Rakiata's Flow is a great example of a Lineage Support Gem that's just that, inverting Monster Elemental Resistances for Damage dealt with Hits by the supported Skill. Now that's power.

The most powerful new Lineage Support Gem?
Dialla's Desire is another example that provides a lot of generic scaling to the supported Skill in the form of a gem level, a boost to gem quality, and even a cost and reservation multiplier.

Some Lineage Support Gems offer versatile bonuses
Lineage Support Gems provide an exciting new loot opportunity for Path of Exile 2's endgame, including various farmable locations and some global drops. Below you'll find a list of every single Lineage Support Gem in patch 0.3 and where you can find them!
