--0.4 REVAMP-- (OLD vs NEW)

the NEW setup has much higher Quality-of-Life by using Stormblast Bolts for single target, relying onMirage Archer to detonate them.
no holding down Plasma Blast, no need to worry about shock expiration - just spam away!

the OLD Shockburst Rounds setup still works fine and has similar single-target BUT is bit "clunkier" in its skill rotation
you MUST channel Plasma Blast FULLY & ensure that the enemy is ALWAYS shocked

Single Target

  1. 4-5x Stormblast Bolts as prep
    most bosses yap before they can be damaged lol
  2. wait a few seconds then dodge roll to trigger Mirage Archer (detonates Stormblast Bolts)
    waiting ~3s bypasses boss "one shot dmg reduction"
  3. spam Stormblast Bolts until reload
    stand CLOSE TO ENEMY (Close Combat II)
  4. Emergency Reload
  5. continue spamming Stormblast Bolts

Clearing

  1. spam Galvanic Shards
    Herald of Thunder does the rest

Single Target

  1. charge Plasma Blast FULLY
    hold while boss is yapping; fire when done
  2. spam Shockburst Rounds until empty mag
    enemy MUST BE SHOCKED
  3. Emergency Reload
  4. continue spamming Shockburst Rounds
    if shock expires, reapply w Plasma Blast

Clearing

  1. spam Galvanic Shards
    Herald of Thunder does the rest

use the dedicated "Leveling" Build Variant for the details

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • simple (1-button clear & single target)
  • fast (high attack & move speed, plus reduced move penalty while attacking)
  • fun (RUN N GUN BABY! PEWPEWPEWPEW!)
  • VERY tanky w Hyrri's Ire x Sorcery Ward x Ceremonial Ablution
  • crossbow reloads can be annoying (Lineage gems on Galvanic Shards solve this)
  • mobile bosses can mess up single target slightly
  • a bit squishy until decently high Evasion rating (30% of Evasion = HP, due to Sorcery Ward x Ceremonial Ablution)

Build Variants

this is the endgoal - multiple Lineage gems and Unique jewels smooth things out DRASTICALLY

--WEAPON SET CONFIGURATION--

to configure weapon sets, you must do ALL of the following:

  1. in your Inventory, right click the "I" Roman Numeral above your weapon to LOCK IT TO BOTH SETS
    this saves you from needing to acquire an entirely new weapon
    once done correctly, you will see a silhouette of your weapon next to itself
  2. for certain skill gems, you must allocate them to a specific set - do this by clicking the ">" for a given skill and, in the new menu that appears, unchecking either "I" or "II", depending on which set it should ONLY be on.

importantly, after doing all of this, you will have a SEPARATE KEYBIND FOR Stormblast Bolts
you will see the "II" in the top-right of the correct Crossbow Shot's icon
I like to put this on middle-mouse but you can put it wherever's comfortable

the details for which gems go in which set are as follows:

Weapon Set I

ensure the following skills are ONLY on Set I (uncheck "II"):

  • Galvanic Shards
  • Herald of Thunder
  • *Time of Need (if applicable)

Weapon Set II

ensure the following skills are ONLY on Set II (uncheck "I"):

  • Stormblast Bolts
  • Mirage Archer

EXCEPT for gloves - you want PURE ARMOR gloves for Leather Bound Gauntlets

prioritize the Evasion roll on Hyrri's Ire

instill Stimulants for offense, Beastial Skin for defense

Desolate Crossbow is the best basetype

one roll of "+life regen" doesn't hurt, either (helps counter Berserk)

Heart of the Well should have at least "Gain x% dmg as Lightning"
"x% chance for Lightning dmg w hits to be Lucky", "+1% all max ele res", "%inc Evasion from Body" and "%culling strike threshold" are also great

From Nothing (Eldritch Battery) is great for QoL (Branching Bolts + its two small passives), as well as damage (Lightning Quick)

get aPrism of Belief with at least "+2 to Stormblast Bolts"
Galvanic Shards is also good (helps w juiced maps)

Against the Darkness is nice but is NOT NECESSARY (it just enables running Wind Dancer on both Sets and adding in Time of Need for clear)
the only stat it needs is "Notables also grant +Spirit"

for rare jewels, get at least ONE roll of "2% max life gained on kill"
rest of stats are just dmg (%lightning, %crossbow, %lightning pen, %att speed, %skill speed, etc)

this setup requires a TOTAL OF 280 Spirit and uses Against the Darkness w "Notables grant +Spirit"
if you have more, add in Precision II (and Precision I, if you can fit it too)

if you cannot afford an Against the Darkness, you have two choices:

Choice 1 - Keep Wind Dancer on Set I (saves 30 Spirit)

280 Spirit is only necessary if you want to run Wind Dancer on BOTH Weapon Sets (clearing AND bossing) - if you don't care about the extra Evasion for bossing, simply keep Wind Dancer on Set I ONLY
this lowers your total Spirit requirement back to 250 but you must also drop Time of Need

Choice 2 - Budget options for 280 Spirit

for both budget options, you MUST have both an Alpha's Howl AND a Solar Amulet w explicit Spirit:

Option 1

  • CORRUPTED Alpha's Howl (at least +115)
  • Solar Amulet w TOTAL +50 (implicit + explicit)
  • *1x Soul Core of Azcapa (+15)
    ignore this if your Solar Amulet has EXACTLY 65 Spirit (max roll implicit AND explicit)

Option 2

  • CORRUPTED Alpha's Howl (at least +115)
  • Solar Amulet w TOTAL +50 (implicit + explicit)
  • Grip of Kulemak w "%inc Spirit Reservation Efficiency"
    only do this if the ring also has other good stats like "Gain %dmg as extra"
