Our Act 1 will definitely be our most difficult act like most builds, but even more extreme for monk. We're going to need
Glacial Cascade for single target and
Frozen Locus for clear. The way this combo works is that you're going to drop FLs and explode them with glacial cascade. Once you get
Herald of Ice you will 1 shot whole packs which actually feels quite nice, but it'll take a little bit of practice to get the timing and accuracy down. But once you do this skill is actually quite nice for clear and super satisfying with the freeze explosions.
Gem Progression Order:
Glacial Cascade >
Frozen Locus >
Frost Bomb
First Town Entrance:
When you first get to town make sure you talk to Renly to get your level 1 skill gem, but also shop for a white
Changeling Talisman for wolf form. The
Nettle Talisman works as well you just need to take 1 Strength node on tree This doesn't make the sprint faster or anything, but the dodge roll animation is so much cleaner and you dodge roll faster than normal sprint.
Clearfell:
We need to look for the Abandoned Campsite for a free and guaranteed Level 1 Skill Gem. Which we'll turn into
Glacial Cascade and The other one we got from Renly from killing the Miller into
Frozen Locus.
Beira:
We just drop
Frozen Locus near her feet (this actually has a pretty big Area of Effect) and then slam her with
Glacial Cascade. ***IMPORTANT*** One incredibly Important thing to note is that glacial cascade does SIGNIFICANTLY MORE DAMAGE if you hit mobs with the tip of the cascade. So you really want to make sure you're a few meters away from tanky mobs that don't get 1 shotted by
Frozen Locus to get full
Glacial Cascade Damage. This fight should actually be pretty easy - if you run out of mana just use staff bash to finish her off
Argeane:
This boss is generally pretty Thanos, but if you play distance with
Frozen Locus and
Glacial Cascade the boss is actually pretty easy here and drops guaranteed support gem and
Medium Life Flask and
Medium Mana Flask
Our first support gem goes to Concentrated Area because it actually shortens the
Glacial Cascade making it a shorter distance to hit the tip of the spike making it easier to hit you're
Frozen Locus combo on packs and bosses.
Red Vale:
Here we just unga bunga run around looking for the 3 pillars. If you don't have a talisman yet, you can open up the refined arms for one, or a staff upgrade. On our way to fighting the mist king we must find and kill the league mechanic because 1. It gives us a ton of exp, but also 2. It gives us a guaranteed level 2 skill gem which we use to slot in
Frost Bomb.
Frost Bomb does solid damage and also applies exposure, which functionally is just elemental penetration which makes us deal close to 25% more damage since we're doing almost entirely cold damage.
Rust King:
Our combo looks like
Frost Bomb for exposure -
Frozen Locus into
Glacial Cascade for DPS. Just make sure the tip of the Cascade hits the boss and it should be a decent kill time compared to say Witch.
Cemetery:
After RV we run our way to the Cemetery and we make sure to Level to 6 here and plug in ED. If you have found a talisman and have an extra level 3 gem get
Pounce as well since it's a great movement ability that lets you jump over some walls and most gaps.
We then go to Tomb of The consort first, because there is a sideboss (with a checkpoint) that drops a guaranteed support gem which we'll be using to make Cold Attunement for
Glacial Cascade
Then go kill Asina then Draven and fight the old man. Here he drops a guaranteed level 3 skill gem which we'll use for
Glacial Cascade
Hunting Grounds:
Hug any wall and run around until you've found all 4 points of interest. There's 2 notable monsters will need to kill, Crowbill who drops a level 3 skill gem which we'll put into orb of storms and +2 passives book, and a plant monster which drops another guaranteed support gem which we'll turn into Ice Bite I for
Frozen Locus. We must complete Plant Boss > Crowbill before moving onto the next zone. Crowbill drops a guaranteed level 3 skill gem which we use on
Pounce for mobility
The other two Points of Interests are entrances to Freythorn and Ogham farmland. We want to go to Freythorn immediately for our first Spirit Gem
