Build Overview

This build uses Whirlwind Lance to create several whirlwinds on the ground and Cull The Weak to dive into the whirlwinds, causing them to explode for big damage. Whirlwinds are empowered by all 3 elemental ground effects automatically thanks to The Taming ring, which grants 150% damage as extra elemental.

We use Spirit Walker's Vivid Stampede node to create stags which jump around damaging and shocking enemies. The more distance we travel, the more stags we create, which is perfect since we already jump around so much with Cull The Weak.

After diving into a pack of mobs, dodge roll to proc Primal Bounty's additional projectiles on your next throw of whirlwind lance.

Defensively, we use the Wild Protector companion with Sacred Unity, Starkonja's Head, Romira's Requital, and Captivating Companionship to make a lot of damage taken from our companions before our own life. We also stack some evasion and a bit of armor.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Fast and fun playstyle diving into and out of combat
  • Big burst damage on bosses
  • Great clear with stags and double heralds
  • Defenses rely on keeping Bear companion alive
  • Damage can be inconsistent based on how the whirlwinds land
  • Before you get high crit chance for Sniper's Mark, you may need to rely on Parry to generate frenzy charges on bosses

The Taming gives 150% damage as extra elemental which is huge damage. If you can't afford it, just start with Berek's Pass or a Tame Beast with Trail of Ice/Fire/Lightning while you work on acquiring Berek's Grip and Berek's Respite. Then find an Azmerian Ranges map which has a hidden side area where you can combine the 3 rings into The Taming.

Before you get a proper endgame spear you can use a Runeforged Tyranny's Grip in weapon set 2 for your Cull The Weak, which has very high base damage and is cheap. However, you need a rare spear in weapon set 1 for Whirlwind Lance since Tyranny's Grip disables projectile skills.
