Build Overview

Why Blood Mage?

This build takes Lightning Spear and puts it onto a Blood Mage in order to access Blood Barbs and Gore Spike (Ascendancy Passives).

Blood Barbs allows Elemental Damage to apply to Bleed Magnitude, and Gore Spike provides lots of Crit Multi to further scale with Tangletongue.

Rake and Blood Hunt will take care of bossing/single target, while Lightning Spear is used for map clear.

We also do not provide a leveling setup as this build is credited to another player. This build page is intended to inform players of how the build works and how to replicate it.

This Endgame Setup combines the Mapping and Bossing Setup using Weapon Swap. However, there are still differences in Equipment and Gem Links.

How the Build Works

The clear portion of the build works like many other Lightning Spear builds. Tangletongue allows you to deal massive Crit Damage with the "Fork Critical Hits" line. In exchange, the weapon itself doesn't have much damage.

To solve this, the build uses Rings with high Flat Damage, scaled further with Ingenuity. Flat damage on gloves is also a good bonus.

One Shot Bosses

Rake and Blood Hunt are used to 2 shot bosses. Since the build deals elemental damage (from the flat damage on Rings), we use Blood Barbs to have it contribute to Bleeding Magnitude.

Enfeeble + Blood Barbs makes the Bleed Aggravate, dealing more damage even if the boss isn't moving.

Concoct and Ambrosia are two new Support Gems that consume Flask Charges to buff up Rake. Since the build looks to one-shot bosses, you don't need to sustain these charges. With well rolled Flasks, these Supports will grant 75% More Bleeding Magnitude and 75% Damage as extra Lightning Damage respectively.

Disengage is linked with Supports to apply a large Shock for more damage. Orb of Storms with Font of Rage will allow you to setup 30 Rage.

Lastly, we have Infernal Cry, which grants an additional 140% damage as extra Fire Damage when used near a Unique enemy. (at 20% Quality)

Crown of Eyes (Bossing Setup) allows Spell Damage modifiers to affect Attacks.

All of this Elemental Damage, Crit, and more contribute to a massive Bleed which you can use to one/two-shot just about any boss with Rake and Blood Hunt.

Required Uniques

Tangletongue - Used in just about every Spear build for the "Fork Critical Hits" line.

Ingenuity - While technically not required for the build to work, not having this belt will result in much lower damage.

Crown of Eyes - Bossing Setup allows Spell Damage modifiers to affect Rake/Blood Hunt.

Beneficial Uniques

  • From Nothing ( Heartstopper )
    Used to allocate the First Approach cluster for one shotting bosses.
  • Prism of Belief ( Rake )
    Used to increase damage scaling.

Important Offense Modifiers

  • Rings: Flat Physical / Fire / Cold / Lightning Damage
  • Arms/Amulet: + Level to Melee Skills
  • Arms/Amulet: Critical Damage Bonus
  • Helmet: Critical Hit Chance
  • Life/Mana Flask: 70% Increased Charges
  • Weapon Set 2 Foci: Increased Fire Damage/Increased Spell Damage

Defense Modifiers

As an Evasion based character, you'll want enough Dexterity for high Evasion bases and enough STR/INT for the Skill/Support Gems.

This Weapon Set is your mapping setup with your Buckler. This set takes nodes such as Increased Evasion and Increased Block Chance.

This set is for single target and takes more damage nodes.
