Build Overview

This is my Full Build Guide for Ice Strike + Shattering Palm Invoker Monk

It can be played as Hollow Palm OR with a Staff (Both versions are Below)

Lightning SPEEDster - https://mobalytics.gg/poe-2/builds/ronarray-unarmed-hollow-palm-monk

==========================================================

This Invoker Monk Build uses Shattering Palm + Ice Strike - to fly through maps while Herald of Ash + Herald of Thunder + Herald of Ice provide amazing AOE Clear.

To Fight Bosses - we can use Tempest Bell + Ice Strike + Elemental Conflux combo to clear even T4 Pinnacles in seconds.

OR Use Falling Thunder to stack combos and hit them once.

With A LOT of Energy shield + Great amount of Evasion Build can also negate the downsides of being melee and feel tankier than many other options.

▸ Chest Armor

We run Hybrid Armour to get both bonuses from Hollow Palm Technique - Attack Speed AND Critical Chance.

Aim for ~1400+ Evasion and ~500 Energy Shield.

Secondary useful stats are:

  • Faster Start of ES Recharge
  • Resistances
  • Deflection

▸ Helmet

We're receiving Evasion from Subterfuge Mask that we instill on the Amulet. Aim for at least 400+ ES on the helmet (with 20% Quality and Greater Iron Rune).

20% Critical Strike Chance on the Helmet is helping a lot. Perfectly you should also get some resistances.

▸ Gloves

Gloves contribute massively to our DPS. Rolling modifiers like Attack Speed, FLAT Lightning/Cold/Phys Damage, or +Level to Melee Skills makes a big difference. Try to aim for at least two out of these three; the remaining slots can be filled with ES and defensive stats.

Priority order is: +Level to Melee Skills → Lightning/Fire Damage → Attack Speed (lowest priority).

▸ Boots

On boots, aim for at least 25% Movement Speed to feel smooth while playing. The other key stats are Item Rarity and some Resistances.

Boots can also be a solid source of Energy Shield, so if your budget allows, try to get 250+ ES on them.

▸ Amulet

Focus on getting Amulet with high ES and damage stats like Critical Crit Chance, Critical Hit Damage and +Lvl of Melee Skills.

The Priority order is:

  • Melee Skills > Crit Chance > Energy Shield > The rest is less important.

We can anoint Subterfuge Mask to feel tankier or use Stormcharged for Damage.

▸ Rings:

❗❗❗ IMPORTANT Rings give A LOT of damage to attack builds. Focus on getting Flat Damage (Adds X Lightning OR Cold Damage to Attacks).

Both Lightning and Cold Damage will work good for the Ice Strike build.

You can also roll Resistances, Mana, other flat damage types (Lightning for shock), and Item Rarity on rings.

At least one ring should provide Mana or Mana Regeneration for smoother gameplay.

Use Catalysts to boost damage - Reaver or Esh’s Catalyst work best.

▸ Belt:

The Belt we use is Darkness Enthroned OR Headhunter for mapping.

❗❗❗ Belts differ depending on their equipment type stat, make sure you buy the correct one, otherwise you will be unable to use Runes.

Two options for the belt, pick the one that you need at the moment. My current preference is defensive option.

▸ Defensive

  • Pick the belt with "This item gains bonuses from Socketed Items as though it was a Body Armour"
  • Socket Craiceann's Rune of Recovery and Atmohua's Soul Core of Retreat to get HUGE ES Recharge Rate and super low delay.

▸ Offensive

  • Get the belt with Gloves Stats
  • Socket Thane Grannell's Rune of Mastery
  • You can also socket x2 Talisman of Sirrius if you have enough budget.

▸ Jewels (Important):

You can get "Damage as Extra Lightning" on your Heart of the Well Abyss Jewel to get a better uptime of Shocks. Also get RAGE from the jewel as well (Ruby or Heart of the Well).

Useful Stats for Rare Jewels:

  • Energy Shield
  • Crit Dmg Multiplier / Crit Chance
  • Additional Stun Threshold based on ES
  • At least one jewel with Rage gain on Melee Hit

You can also use Time Lost Sapphire around Walker of the Wilds to get bonuses from Stupefy, Dizzying Hits, Heartstopping, Struck Through

For that Sapphire, look into Energy Shield / Crit / Global Def Nodes.

▸ Rarity:

To integrate Item Rarity into the build, aim to roll it on Boots, Rings, Gloves, or Helmet. These slots usually have enough flexibility to fit Rarity without sacrificing core stats, making them the most efficient places to pick it up. Treat Rarity as a bonus stat, it's nice to have for farming, but always prioritize core defensive and damage stats first.

❗❗❗ IMPORTANT - Use Falling Thunder OR Tempest Bell

Both options are good for Bosses so pick up the one that you prefer.

1. If you will chose Falling Thunder - you will need to add 3 Supports for Quarterstaff Strike listed above and use it to generate power charges.

Stack Combos at boss with Ice Strike and use Quarterstaff Strike once when you have about ~40.

After that just use Falling Thunder for HUGE Damage.

2. If you want simpler way - just use Tempest Bell instead of the option above.

▸ Skill Levels:

❗❗❗ Keep Herald of Ash at lvl 4 to not overinvest - the rest of the skills should be as high as you can get them and Temporal Chains should be 18+ to work.

▸ Rotation to Clear:

Click Shattering Palm to dash to the enemy → Click Ice Strike → Rinse and repeat

▸ Aura Option for Bosses:

For Bosses, disable Blasphemy and Herald of Ash and you can get Elemental Conflux for extra damage if you lack it.

▸ Weapon Set

If you're using Rigwald's Ferocity with your Ice Strike, Ice Strike should be assigned to weapon set 2.

==========================================================

Why I'm not Using Charged Staff:

With my current set of items, investing into Charged Staff is not providing enough damage to spend points especially since it is not affecting clear speed too much.

▸ How to NOT Get Stunned:

We use Dampening Shield to get extra Stun Threshold. If it's not enough, you can invest 1 small passive into Stun and Ailment Threshold from Energy Shield Node on the way to Abasement.

Apart from that you can get Jewels with % ES gained as Extra Stun threshold.

▸ How to Leech Mana:

Walker of the Wilds AND some Physical Attack Damage Leeched as Mana on one of the Rings or Gloves will trivialize your mana sustain.

▸ How to Shock Enemies:

  1. We use I am the Thunder..., it gives almost the same pure damage BUT on top gives you a source of extra Lightning.
  2. You can get Heart of the Well with Gain % Damage as Extra Lightning
  3. Some flat Lightning dmg is alright to have on some items.
