Build Overview

Welcome to my early-game build for Path of Exile: Dawn of the Hunt for the Amazon. This is a crossbow-focused build that utilizes a combination of Galvanic Shards & Rapid Shot to provide strong AoE as well as solid single-target damage. We use The The Three Dragons along with a mix of elemental Heralds like Herald of Ice & Herald of Thunder to give us consistent AoE damage and sustain wit Cannibalism. The Amazon is naturally a very strong ascendancy that deals a lot of damage, and this setup is designed to further amplify that damage.

When it comes to the skill tree, the most important aspects are stacking as much Dexterity and Accuracy as possible, along with general utility to allow you to use your abilities while moving. You'll also want to pick up some Crit and elemental bonuses for extra damage. Passives like Cooked can be a good option later on, but keep in mind they can be a bit rough defensively, as the Amazon doesn't have many built-in defenses—most of it comes from our skills. I ended up picking up Falcon Technique a little later, but it’s a solid choice. Getting Polymathy is also another viable option since Dexterity is crucial for this build. Other than that, just follow what you see in the planner.

How it Works

So how exactly does the build work? First off, you're going to be using Galvanic Shards for AOE clear, because this ability has really good AOE from Fork and the skill itself naturally being strong at AOE and electrocuting. Your The Three Dragons is going to convert the shock buildup into freeze buildup. This will be your major form of defense, as most mobs won’t be able to move or do anything against you.

You also have Flash Grenade, which will stun and blind enemies to give you more defensive capabilities while clearing. When you face off against a tough rare or unique enemy, you’ll once again use Flash Grenade to blind and stun them, then swap to Rapid Shot and pepper them with as many attacks as possible. As you get close to the end of the magazine, use Emergency Reload to instantly refill and keep your heat buff going—which comes naturally with Rapid Shot—and also straight up amplifies your damage due to various buffs like Premeditation and Murderous Intent.
