Build Overview

This is a build relying entirely on poisons.

We apply poisons via Poisonburst Arrow and Toxic Growth. They go boom, poison spreads itself via Herald of Plague, we chain it together with Herald of Blood in the endgame, and we pick up loot.

Why Pathfinder? My favorite streamer put it dead last in the tier list last league, are you trolling us mr Perra?

Pathfinder is fantastic. Not only is it the only true poison ascendency, but it also has access to absolute gems when it comes to ascendency points. And this has not changed this league. Hell, they even got buffed, now allowing us to avoid stuns with Running Assault. Pair this with the inability to be slowed using Relentless Pursuit, and you'll be zooming through maps.

And if you're running low on defence, you can always grab Sustainable Practices making you incredibly tanky, or Path Seeker with Path of the sorceress and loads of energy shield passive points.

Overall, it's just a fantastic ascendency.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Giga speed
  • Can't slow down
  • Poisons are cool
  • Fubgun ruined the market

Equipment Priority

Important:

You need an Unset Ring to be able to use all these skills.

You need one spirit roll somewhere. Amulet is the easiest. A corrupted helmet with + spirit is also good.

The item priorities are highlighted. The rest of the stats are less important, and you can make changes if you can't find the exact items. DON'T JUST COPY THE PLANNER! Prices always skyrocket when looking for the exact items that are posted in build guides.

Flat damage modifiers:

Due to Plaguefinger, we are looking to scale any flat damage modifiers.

You can replace Ingenuity with any belt that has defensives on it, in case you need resistances for example. You also need a dexterity roll somewhere on your gear if you don't have Headhunter.

If you have extra spirit, then slot in Cannibalism II in one of your persistent gems.

Despair - chaos penetration on bosses.

Ghost Dance - your main source of energy shield generation, used when mapping.

Vine Arrow used for additional poison damage on bosses.

Toxic Growth - main burst on bosses/rough elites.

Wind Dancer - defence, mainly when mapping. Used in weapon set 1 only!

Mirage Archer - big damage on bosses. Used in weapon set 2 only!

Poisonburst Arrow - your main damage dealer when mapping,

Gas Arrow - used on bosses to pop your Toxic Growth

Herald of Blood - used for chaining AOE.

Herald of Plague - spreads your poisons.

Passive Tree

main:

set 1:

set 2:

You must anoint Subterfuge Mask or you'll have to change the passive tree slightly to fit this in. It's a substantial defensive boost.

Heart of the Well - Gain #% as extra damage. Which ones you grab doesn't matter. Then fill out with anything useful.

Against the Darkness - Gain #% as extra damage and any useful mod. Ideally two of extra damage, but those are expensive.

Rare jewels best stats:

Magnitude of ailments.

Increased duration of ailments.

Other useful stats are attack damage, attack speed, et cetera.

Important: look for a jewel with "mana on kill", as this will sustain your mana when mapping.

How it Plays

Clearing:

Press Poisonburst Arrow as often as possibly. Toxic Growth on rough elites or when needed.

Bossing:

Drop down Vine Arrow. You can have 3x up.

Put down 14 Toxic Growth - how many times you need to shoot depends on your + arrows.

AFTER the boss spawns, you use Gas Arrow to pop all of your toxic growth. Then, just keep spamming Toxic Growth until he dies.

If needed - use Vine Arrow and Gas Arrow again if they dissipate

How it Works

Poison Scaling: Usually you scale your poison damage via Physical and Chaos damage. The calculation takes your Hit physical and chaos damage, then transforms both of them into its own multiplier (Poison = another type of chaos damage). To understand more, read this: https://poe2db.tw/us/Poison

There is however one way to use more multipliers, and that is via Plaguefinger. Using this, we can now also use lightning and cold damage to scale our poisons. This easily doubles your damage.

Herald Tech:

To have Herald of Blood chain and wipe out the entire screen, we use Poison III so that we can use Bursting Plague. This is a skill that you can socket into any skill that causes poisons. And the reason we want this, is because if we also slot in Bleed III, then the Bursting Plague can bleed enemies. And when enemies are bleeding, then Herald of Blood can trigger. So, basicly:

Herald of Blood poisons -> triggers Bursting Plague -> triggers Bleed III -> triggers Herald of Blood -> loop.

We just need to start this whole loop, and we simply do that by having our Poisonburst Arrow bleed enemies first, by doing the same tech by socketing Bursting Plague and Bleed III.

Herald of Plague isn't really needed for the loop to occur, but it spreads the highest damage poisons, so it increases our clear by a lot.
