Build Overview

This build is centered around Blackflame Covenant and the Lich ascendancy. The synergy is massive with mana stacking to gain damage as extra chaos from Blackened Heart. you are stacking mana to gain fuel for Incinerate as your single target skill, and spending mana with Fireball as your clear skill. you ramp up the mana cost through Eldritch Battery doubling your fireball cost but also gaining you large amouts of mana.

Mana stacking is also giving you large percentage of mana increases both through the keystone Arcane Intensity and additionaly the staff modifier that is an easily targetable unveil to gain another 5% increased spell damage per 100 maximum mana upping this amount to 8% per 100 mana

you achieve a very large effective health pool by getting 60%+ of damage taken from mana before life, so your 4-6k mana is also your life pool

Incinerate stacks Ignite so sources of igniite magnitude as well as Ignite duration are both more damage multipliers for single target, while ignite generates fire infusions to create novas of fireballs

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Very high single target from Incinerate
  • can achieve high effective health pool by having a humongous mana pool with 60-80% of damage taken from mana before life.
  • the clear is good with massive Fireball novas sometimes shooting 30+ projctiles from the combination of free self sustaining infusions. these infusions make the clearspeed of this build a "Win harder" mechanic because the harder you hit the more you ignite which gives more fireball novas which ignite more. This effect compounds in the endgame as you start gaining more overlapping monsters with effects like abyss or breach because they give more ignites and more infusions
  • Incinerate needs fuel from spending 500 mana per 1 second of channeling so naturally this is a mana stacker. stacker characters need high amounts of mana to complete this loop. fortunately Essence Drain + Contagion is perhaps the best leveling setup to fix this early game weakness and swap builds later.
  • the infusion mechanic being a "win harder" mechanic can also mean its a "lose harder" mechanic if you are severly undergearred since if you arent hitting hard enough to ignite you wont generate infusions to gain 12 extra fireballs. this is all the more reason to stay ED + contagion longer if your gear is poor because the ED contagion setup is fine with 0 gear.

there is good synergy between stacking intelligence with all spare points that arent needed for gem and gear requirements to gain more mana but also use The Winter Owl in order to gain large amounts of evasion for extra defence. I annoint Subterfuge Mask while using a high energy shield helmet. you want a high energy shield helmet anyways to stack mana through Eldritch Battery

you can use weapon swap points on the extra proj nodes, as well as Kite Runner and Considered Casting in the Controlled Metamorphosis circle to put 8 swap points using the same weapon for incinerate to then pick up Burnout (pathing through ignite magnitude) as well as the 20% duration for 3 points below Overexposure

in the end game if you get really good rare jewels plus a handful of the powerful unique jewels you can swap to a tree where you pick up 2 extra jewel sockets for 11 points, but to do this easily you probably have to drop the mana gain on kill and cost efficiency for 7 points with Efficient Casting and Efficient Killing. to do this get at least 4% mana gain on kill form jewels (1 jewel in the lich socket can achieve this) and probably 6k+ mana with 1000+ mana regen/sec on sheet. i swapped to this at level 97

How it Plays

the two skill combo uses Fireball to clear while getting free fire infusions form Siphon Elements to create novas of fireballs in addition to Sione's Temper already creating novas to stack together

the single target ability is Incinerate which can absolutely delete bosses

Incinerate gains fuel by spending mana, but you get extremly high mana cost by using Eldritch Battery to stack mana from energy shield on gear which in turn doubles mana costs of skills to doubel the fuel for incinerate. you can use incinerate as well on tanky rare monsters when needed

Blink is used for movement for a smooth playstyle of alternating blinks and Fireball. the Unleash support gem gathers fireball charges while you blink and run around while also having a high mana multiplier to gain more fuel
