Build Overview

[This build has received no major changes in 0.5]

This is a pure support build meant to buff your allies and weaken your enemies. Perfect for a duo setup or group party play! We aim to maximize the Unholy Might granted by the Lich ascendancy to buff all ally damage and stack curse magnitude to destroy enemy resistances, slow them to a crawl and weaken their damage as much as possible.

Here's a quick list of some of the buffs/debuffs this build can give when optimized:

Allies gain 120%+ of dmg as extra chaos dmg

120% Temp Chains slow

-21% enemy move speed hinder

-100% enemy chaos res Despair

80% Wither (enemies take up to 80% increased chaos dmg)

12% enemies take increased damage from all sources

-55% enemy dmg Enfeeble

Enemies have 33% chance to explode for chaos dmg when killed

Allies deal 190%+ increased dmg

+Whatever other mods you have on your sceptre ^^

These numbers can go up/down depending on your gear, but even on a very cheap budget setup your numbers won't be all that far from what's listed here. The PoB code on this page shows some more optimized gear.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Strong Defenses
  • Massive boost to all allied damage
  • Easy gameplay (like aurabot from PoE1)
  • Cannot kill anything by yourself
  • Not a very active playstyle
  • Requires at least 1 friend

Important: If you can't reach 100% damage taken from mana before life, just take Mind Over Matter on the passive tree and replace all energy shield nodes with mana regen nodes.

Make sure to cap your elemental resists. Gear shown above intentionally has no resists on it. Get res on gear as needed!

Mana = more damage for your allies and more "life" for you, get as much as you possibly can!

Mana regen - adds further survivability to increase your sustain

Annoint: The Howling Primate (or Mental Perseverance if needed to reach 100% damage taken from mana before life)

Note: If your ally/group is running Chaos Inoculation you can also run 1 or 2 Evergrasping Rings for another boost in ally damage! Though this is at the cost of a lower "health" pool for yourself because they don't give you much mana.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SOCKETS:

Helm = Soul Core of Zalatl

Body Armor = The Greatwolf's Rune of Willpower + Greater Iron Rune

Weapon = Rabbit Idol/ Wolf Idol/ Primate Idol (lots of options here honestly)

Focus = Greater Iron Rune or Greater Mind Rune (whichever ends up giving you more mana)

Gloves = Snake Idol

Boots = Greater Iron Rune or Greater Mind Rune (whichever ends up giving you more mana)

Belt (if you have Darkness Enthroned (helmet)) = Idol of Egrin + Tacati's Soul Core of Affliction

Note: If no Darkness Enthroned (helmet) just use a rare with mana+res.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SPIRIT BREAKPOINT:

259 Spirit allows you to run triple curse setup (with Heightened Curse) along with Withering Presence

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are a variety of sceptre mods that can be useful. The "allies deal % increased damage" mod is always great. The other mods can vary depending on the build of the person/people you're running with. Combinations of flat damage, crit chance/dmg, and atk/cast speed can all be good. Intelligence also adds mana so helps. Some additional spirit will be needed for you to be able to run Heightened Curse support.

You want a Stoic Sceptre for Discipline (more es = mana).

Jewels - Damage taken from mana before life
Other useful mods on jewels include mana regen, spell/generic aoe, intelligence, curse magnitude

Unique Jewels - From Nothing (Bulwark version), Megalomaniac (allocates Lingering Whispers or Mental Perseverance if needed)

If needed you can remove the far left jewel socket and use those points to travel to Mental Perseverance for another 10% damage taken from mana before life.

Note: Lone Warrior - "Aura buffs don't apply to allies". Don't worry, we don't actually have a single aura that applies to allies anyways so we get the upside with no downside ^^

How it Plays

Just stay near your allies to give them damage. Any enemies that get remotely close will be slowed/weakened and take massively increased damage from your allies.

How it Works

Unholy Might gives allies 30% of damage as extra chaos. Every 100 flat mana you have will increase the magnitude of unholy might by 4% (Ex: 1000 flat mana = 40% increased magnitude of Unholy Might. 30x1.4 = 42. So 1000 flat mana gives allies 42% of damage as extra chaos). Assuming you get 7500 mana by end game, that's 120% of damage as extra chaos for allies.

Withering Presence will make enemies take up to 50% increased damage from the Unholy Might buff that you're giving to all your allies. With the wither effect nodes on the passive tree, we reach 70% wither which multiplies all the chaos damage your allies now deal. Plus you can socket a Talisman of Egrin in your Darkness Enthroned belt for up to another "enemies take 12% increased damage".

Our Despair curse linked to Blasphemy can get to -91% enemy chaos resist. Combined with a Soul Core of Affliction in our belt that can be pushed past -100%. So now you're giving your allies more damage, making enemies take more damage, and destroying enemy resists to make them take EVEN MORE damage.

Finally, you're also slowing enemies to a crawl with Temporal Chains (110%+ slow) and drastically lowering their damage with Enfeeble (-55% ish dmg) to hugely increase group survivability ^_^
