Build Overview

Here's my guide for my Low Life Giga Bonk Monk for Patch 0.5! This is a late Endgame High Investment Variant of my Giga Bonk Martial Artist. Video Soon!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🚨Work in Progress, be sure to come by the Twitch Stream for the Newest Skill Tree and Gems as I'm changing it to test new things!🚨

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a High Budget, Late Endgame version of my Giga Bonk Monk. Do not transition to this until you have the proper currency!

This version of Martial Artist uses Atziri's Communion to put us on Low Life. This allows us to take advantage of massive bonuses from things like Execute III, Killer Instinct, Direstrike II, Pain Attunement and more! This allows us to get tons of damage easily, meaning we only have to solve defenses.

We'll use Decree of Loyalty to prevent DoT effects like Poison and Bleed from bypassing our Energy Shield and killing us instantly. This Body Armor will also grant us a large amount of Armor and Max Chaos Resistance which is great for obtaining high EHP.

Currently I have well over 100+ Million PoB DPS and 300,000+ EHP on very expensive gear. We have 170%+ Sprint Speed and 100%+ Movement Speed, 36K / 83% Evade Chance, 95% Deflection Chance, 16K Armor, and 8.3K ES. This + the Immunity to tons of debuffs makes this a monster for any content in the game.

Even on budget gear, this will smash everything in the game. Until you can afford the stuff for this setup, follow my regular Giga Bonk Build! This is the Most Powerful Version of my Monk builds!

We'll use Shattering Palm + Living Lightning II + Culmination II + Ailith's Chimes to generate Power Charges on Hit for FREE! We'll hit a target with Shattering Palm, this will trigger Living Lightning II minions which will expend built Combo when hitting targets thanks to the Martial Master node. This combo is then consumed by Ailith's Chimes for Power Charges. Simply enter map, press Shattering Palm a couple times on enemies and you have Charges!

We'll use these Power Charges with Falling Thunder + Nova Projectiles I for 360° Clear! This will be our main Bossing and Mapping Skill. Bonk with Falling Thunder, then recharge your Charges with 1 press of Shattering Palm on enemies, then bonk again!

We'll also use Martial Adept + Martial Master to build up Combo from ALL our hits and twice as fast. For every 1 Combo we consume, we reduce our Energy Shield Recharge Rate by 0.2 seconds, so 10 combo consumed = -2 seconds before ES Recharge starts. We spam Combo skill so CONSTANT ES recharge!

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Insane Damage
  • Insane Defenses
  • Crit, Curse, Slow, Ignite, and Electrocute Immune
  • Built for Expedition Farming
  • 170%+ Sprint Speed, 100% Movement Speed
  • 180%+ Rarity
  • Expensive (Atziri's Communion required and more)

Build Variants

The Pinnacle of the build. 5 Mod Jewels, +1 Suffix Staff, +5 Level Absent Amulet, Raven-Touched Shard, etc....

Not required by any means, just wanted to push the build. Damage can actually be way higher than shown, wanted to prioritize survival in the juiciest Expeditions over everything.

Quarterstaff:

DO NOT BUY THE Dreaming Quarterstaff !!!!!! This is a 0% Critical Hit Chance Base and will destroy your DPS!!!!

Prioritize these Affixes:

- Adds # to # Damage to Attacks (Cold > Lightning > Fire)

- % Increased Elemental Damage with Attacks (As good as same Tier Added Damage)

- + to Level of Melee / Attacks (+ Attack does Melee + Herald but lower ceiling than + Melee)

- +% to Crit Chance

- % to Critical Damage Bonus / % Increased Attack Speed (Get both if using Serle's Triumph)

Prioritize Highest Elemental DPS, Critical Hit Chance (Sinister Quarterstaff), + Level of All Melee / Attack Skills, and Critical Damage Bonus. Socket with Farrul's Rune of the Hunt, Serle's Triumph, and Xopec's Soul Core of Power (Better Charge Generation).

Body Armor:

We use the Decree of Loyalty to prevent DoT effects like Bleeding and Poison from bypassing our Energy Shield and 1 Shotting us. This is required for the build!

We'll get a bit of Armor from this Unique as well to provide a solid Physical Damage Reduction. Try to get one that has either +1 Socket and / or Implicit Chaos Resistance. This is a cheap Armor currently but could chance depending on the popularity of this build.

Socket with Fox Idol, Rabbit Idol, and Panther Idol (If you need more Chaos Res)

Gloves:

This is one of the most important pieces of our build now thanks to Way of the Stonefist. This converts affixes on gloves to new unique affixes.

Prioritize these Affixes:

- % Increaser Armor / Evasion / Energy Shield -> Stonefist Conversion -> % More EV/ES (Massive EHP Boost)

- % Magnitude of Poison / Bleed -> Stonefist Conversion -> % Chance to Explode Corpses (Massive Clear Speed increase)

- % Increased Critical Damage Bonus -> Stonefist Conversion -> +% to Crit Chance

- % Increased Attack Speed -> Stonefist Conversion -> % Chance for Onslaught on Hit

- + Level of Melee -> Stonefist Conversion -> + Level of Melee and % Increased Skill Quality

Go for Single/Double Chance to Explode Corpses (From Magnitude of Bleed/Poison Mod). This is INSANE clear speed and QoL. Still get + 2 Melee and Crit Bonus, otherwise flexible options. I do recommend 1 Defensive Mod (+ / % Defenses convert to % More EV/ES or + EV/ES per Level).

Socket with Katla's Gloom for the Explode Mods and Idol of Sirrius if 2 socket.

Helmet:

Pure Energy Shield Helmet is best once you have a Jade Flask Mageblood.

Prioritize these Affixes:

- + / % Increased Energy Shield

- +% Res / Attributes / Rarity

- % Increased Crit Chance if you have enough Res / Rarity / Attributes

Get the highest ES Helmet as possible. Raven-Touched Shard is not required but provides an extra Jewel Slot with Zarokh's Gift.

Boots:

Prioritize these Affixes:

- 35% Increased Movement Speed

- + / % Increased Evasion and Energy Shield

- % Gain Deflection Rating

- +% Res / Attributes / Rarity

Get Deflection here to assure you have enough to reach the 95% Deflect Chance Cap. Use a Void Flux if needed to convert Resistances to Chaos Resistance like I've done on my Boots. This will give all the Chaos Resistance you'll need for the build if high enough tiers. Socket with Farrul's Rune of the Chase and Tecrod's Gaze if 2 socket for Movement Speed.

Belt:

Mageblood with Jade Flask is BIS for my setup. This provides and INSANE amount of Evasion which will make you Evade / Deflect everything. I went with Jade (EV), Quicksilver (MS), Gold (Rarity) and 1 duplicate of any of these to boost these even higher. Feel free to get a Resistance Flask or Crit Flask if needed.

The Duplicate Flask takes us from +2000 Evasion to nearly +3000 Evasion which is a massive increase to our EHP. Shavronne's Satchel / Headhunter are both alternatives but will offer drastically less Survivability, Rarity, and Movement Speed.

Amulet:

I went with Eternal Rage to ensure we always have the 30% More Damage from 30 Rage. Berserk can work with an Unset Ring and some Life Regeneration but the DPS isn't really needed. Trinity is a good option if you can balance the 3 Elemental Types.

Prioritize these Affixes:

- % Increased Evasion Rating / Energy Shield / Global Defenses

- + Level of All Melee Skills

- +45 or more to Spirit

- +% Res / Attributes / Rarity

Anoint Thaumaturgic Generator / Zarokh's Gift depending on what you have from theRaven-Touched Shard on the Helmet. Get the Charge Generation anoint first.

Rings:

Prioritize these Affixes:

- Adds Damage to Attacks (Any but Phys > Cold > Lightning > Fire)

- +% Res / Attributes / Rarity

Get whatever damage you can, then cover those Resistances / Attributes / Rarity. Kalandra's Touch is worth it once you have a really good Ring.

Jewels:

I use the Heart of the Well for x2 Gain Extra Cold / Lightning / Fire / Chaos Damage. Stun / Ailment Threshold from ES is a good mod for Expedition, otherwise Crit Chance / Bonus and Attack Speed increases are nice. Get 2% Mana on Kill here or one of the Rare Jewels!

I like to use a 5 Mod Time-Lost Emerald with Increased Effect of Notables, Critical Hit Chance / Bonus, Very Large Radius, and Attack / Elemental / Projectile Damage. The mods are listed in order of priority. Can always go with a Time-Lost Sapphire if you want more ES.

I'll also use 5 Mod Sapphire with Increased Energy Shield, Increased Energy Shield + Attack Damage, Critical Damage Bonus / Chance, Elemental Damage, and Stun / Ailment Threshold from ES. The mods are listed in order of priority.

Voices Sapphire will grant us additional Rare Jewel Sockets for more 5 Mod Sapphire. This is how we'll stack a ton of ES / Ailment Threshold / Stun Threshold / Crit Chance / Crit Bonus / etc....

Megalomaniac is important if you're farming Expedition as there's a couple annoying Ailments we can eliminate with this Jewel with these 2 mods. I've also listed them in order of priority:

Morgana, the Storm Seer - Immunity to Electrocute (Nasty Rune gives Scorpions in Expedition the ability to stun lock you)

Crystallised Immunities - Immunity to Ignite if you slot some Str Supports in your Quarterstaff Strike

Flesh Crucible with Pain Attunement will give us 30% More Critical Damage Bonus. Be sure to get one with Less Maximum Life or no other mod at all! Don't get one with Less Spirit / Defenses / Mana / Etc..... Not required but makes up around 20% of my total DPS.

Charms:

Rite of Passage - I went with Spirit of the Wolf for Skill Speed and Armor Break which is necessary to run the Armor Break supports in Herald of Ice. Feel free to use your preferred Spirit.

Staunching Charm - Bleed can be annoying if you get the Rune in Expedition that makes all monster hits bleed. We're no longer Chaos Inoculation so this will help + Staunch Deflection

Dousing Charm / Stone Charm / Thawing Charm - Depends on which you find the most annoying. If you didn't get Crystallised Immunities then use the Ignite Charm.

Important! Atziri's Communion needs to go in Charge Regulation and needs enough Spirit Support Gems linked with it to put you below 35% Life to count you at Low Life! Use the ones listed or other supports like Precision II, Clarity II, Direstrike I, etc......

Why Execute III and Direstrike II?

Since we're on Low Life, we can take advantage of Execute III for a constant 30% More Damage in all of our Skills and Direstrike II for 70% Increased Attack Damage!

Why Nova Projectiles I and not Nova Projectiles II?

Nova Projectiles II has a built in Cooldown and gimps our DPS, we just want the 360° clear from Nova Projectiles I.

Why Flicker Strike?

Completely optional, just one of my favorite skills and goes insane in high density maps. Don't recommend it in super juiced Expeditions though as it can put you in a bad spot sometimes.

Why not use Culmination II in Flicker Strike?

Hit and Run is conditional, therefore preventing us from using Culmination II. We need the Skill Speed from Hit and Run so this isn't worth swapping for the extra damage.

Why Vruun's Inevitability in Wind Dancer?

Wind Dancer can build Combo too! Meaning when the skill goes off when we get hit, it'll consume the combo we built up and lower our ES Recharge Delay thanks to Martial Adept!

How much Spirit for all these gems?

Eternal Rage cost 0 Spirit since its granted by our Absent Amulet. Otherwise we have a total of 5 other Spirit Gems; Elemental Conflux (60), Herald of Ice (30), Ghost Dance (30), Wind Dancer (30), and Charge Regulation (Reserves Life thanks to Atziri's Communion so 0) for a total of 150 Spirit. However, there is a way to reduce our Spirit Cost by a LOT.

Dialla's Desire has a 90% Cost and Reservation Multiplier. This reduces the cost of our Elemental Conflux from 60 -> 54

Ghost Dance Quality Effect is Cost Reservation Efficiency which reduces the cost of the skill. We'll get a corrupt 23% Quality Gem and 17% Quality from our Glove Mod and Body Armor Socketable (Fox Idol + Rabbit Idol). This gives us a 40% Reservation Multiplier which will reduce the cost from 30 -> 21.

This will save us a total of 15 Spirit which brings our Total to 135 Spirit! Can always add in other Spirit Supports if you have enough leftover Spirit.

Passive Tree Breakdown -

We focus on Nodes to Stack Maximum Power Charges like Overflowing Power and The Power Within. You'll need to get our Critical Hit Chance as high as possible with Nodes like Moment of Truth, True Strike, Struck Through, etc...

Stack ES, EV, and Deflection using Enhanced Reflexes, Mindful Awareness, First Principle of the Hollow, and others. Staunch Deflection can mitigate 95% of Bleeds and Maims which can be tricky in Grand Expedition.

Conservative Casting will help mitigate the Mana Leech nerf, Abasement and Shimmering Mirage will prevent you from being Stunned or affected by Ailments all the time until you can make the 5 Mod Sapphire with Stun / Ailment Threshold.

Stupefy and Dizzying Hits are great since we have a Time-Lost Emerald plus we Daze pretty often with all the Daze nodes we take. This just ensures we get the big Damage and Crit bonuses from these nodes.

Ascendancy Points -

Take Way of the Stonefist for GIGA OP Gloves, Martial Adept for Instant ES Recharge and x2 Combo, Martial Master to allow ALL attacks to build combo for 24/7 uptime on Culmination II / Ailith's Chimes / Chakra of Impact, and Runic Meridians for 5 extra Rune sockets.

How it Plays

Mapping -

Power Charge Tech Here

Herald of Ice will go off when we kill Frozen targets, this mainly activates from Flicker Strike and / or Falling Thunder.

Bossing -

I'll be using Falling Thunder. Simply walk into the Arena, get Power Charges from the Living Lightning II Tech, buff yourself with Charged Staff, get some more Charges and then BONK with Falling Thunder. If whatever you hit lived, hit another Shattering Palm and go again. Feel free to use Flicker Strike instead if you like.

How it Works

How Does Low Life Work?

Atziri's Communion reserves Life instead of Spirit. This allows us to reduce our Total Life into the Low Life Range (35% or Below). This allows us to take advantage of some really powerful bonuses like Pain Attunement, Direstrike II and Direstrike I, Killer Instinct, Tecrod's Gaze, and Execute III. This tech makes up around 65% of my Total DPS with just these few listed things.

How to Solve DoT Insta Killing us on Low Life?

Decree of Loyalty makes it so that Damage over Time cannot bypass our Energy Shield. This means things like Bleed and Poison will no longer bypass our Energy Shield and instantly kill us when we're on Low Life! This is required for the build!

What about Nasty Expedition Mods?

We become Immune to tons of nasty things like Curses, Critical Hits, Chill, Maim, Electrocute, Ignite, Bleeds (95% of the time), and more! I'll list how below

Curse Immunity - Craiceann's Rune of Warding + The Hollowkeeper = 100% Reduced Curse Effect

Crit Immune - Carved Tenacity makes it so that Blinded Enemies cannot deal Crit Bonus for 4 seconds. Can sub this in instead of Tecrod's Gaze if needed.

Chill / Some Slows - Legacy of Wanderlust

Maim / Bleeding - 95% Avoidance with Staunch Deflection

Electrocute - Morgana, the Storm Seer on Megalomaniac

Ignite - Crystallised Immunities since we can add Strength Supports to our Quarterstaff Strike to make Str supports the most prominent granting us Ignite Immunity
