PoE 2 Build

0.5.5 Fubgun Flameblast Oil Grenade

Updated on Sep 3, 2026
Sep 3, 2026

Build Overview

This is my Flameblast / Oil Grenade build for 0.5.5, trying to focus on speed and clear, as this build already has a ton of damage built in. Opting for a Cast on Dodge setup with gemling for a speedy setup.

You'll level as the very powerful grenade merc setup and once you reach lvl 52 you'll swap to Flameblast, you cannot swap any earlier because Flameblast is a lvl 52 gem.

Build Variants

Keep in mind this build will require a respec at lvl 52, which will cost around 30k~ gold, so don't waste gold in campaign.

Early boss kill order for a smooth experience:
Devourer(Mud barrow) > cold witch(Clearfell) > hut witch(Grelwood) > rust king(red vale)
If you're more experienced, feel free to skip devourer. Devourer gives an extra support gem around -2 minutes, it's quite valuable for players who struggle in act 1.

For campaign you're just looking for basic gear with life+resist, generally resist is more important. For rings/gloves, these are pretty good pieces to pickup flat damage to attacks, as it'll boost your damage a lot.

For weapon you just want the highest damage crossbow you can find, note attack speed doesn't matter because you're a cooldown based build. In redvale you should get a Tense Crossbow, at lvl 10 you should pickup a Sturdy Crossbow. At lvl 16 you want yo fully invest into a Varnished Crossbow, meaning you'll regal or alch, use 2 artificer orbs and use 2 runes (iron or storm rune). Since you wont swap this crossbow out until lvl 33, you preferable want one with good rolls before fully investing into it. %phys crossbows offer the highest DPS.

For boots you're looking for movement speed, it's an extremely important stat, I would never use boots unless they have movement speed on them.

Body armour is generally the best piece to get defense from, high armour or armour/evasion hybrid is usually the goal, armour is generally really strong in campaign.

Flask: Remember to constantly upgrade your life/mana flask throughout campaign, you can always buy a new one at the vendor when you meet the lvl requirements for the next tier (lvl 10, 16, 23, 30, 40, 50 and 60).

Important: Save all Gemcutters Prism(GCP), these are mandatory for Flameblast swap at lvl 52.

You'll also need to Save a couple of skill gems/support gems for the swap at lvl 52, but this should be easy since you don't use that many skills.

Multishot I is your highest priority for all skill gems in act 1 that can utilize it. Keep in mind the multishot in Crossbow Shot is a placeholder for gas grenade (so only cut 3 Multishot I and at lvl 14, you swap your crossbow multishot into your gas grenade).

Early support order:
Multishot I(Explosive Grenade) -> Multishot I(Flash grenade) -> Elemental Armament I(Explosive)

You'll need a talisman in your weapon set 2 to utilize Pounce, this is optional but it's extremely strong for mobility in the early game.

Flash Grenade is mainly for trash packs, and you'll rotate Explosive Grenade and Gas Grenade for bosses, with enough CDR nodes you'll never run out of grenades to use. You'll also want to press Frost Bomb once every 8 seconds on bosses to keep up your exposure debuff, which is a big damage amplifier.

Attributes nodes are just generally whatever you need at the time, it's important to lvl up frostbomb for act 2 or else the exposure will stop applying, which will be a massive DPS loss, so I opt for intellect when available. Thanks to Curved Weapon and Colossal Weapon attributes are generally really easy to handle on this build.

Ascendancy order:
Essence of Virtue -> Advanced Thaumaturgy -> Implanted Gems(int) -> Gem Studded
