Build Overview

This is a Flicker Strike Monk build that has 2 main focuses. Incredibly fast map clear, both high mobility and damage. And ability to one shot T15 bosses.

If you are looking to farm as fast as possible on monk, in any endgame content this build will be perfect for you. Full video guide supporting this attached, and live streams over on Twitch too, if you want to see it in action.

The best part about this, is it very low on button presses. One press of Flicker Strike will teleport you across massive parts of the map and 1 shot everything. And one press of Falling Thunder will one shot everything on screen, including bosses.

This is an Endgame build, don't start this until you've finished campaign and are in maps. Here is a fantastic leveling build to follow and you can switch over afterwards: https://mobalytics.gg/poe-2/builds/ice-martial-artist-monk-medieval-marty

Best Quarterstaff?
I've tried multiple different ones and I've simmed multiple quarterstaffs in PoB and the elemental staffs always come out on top for this build, mostly for Flicker Strike. But a physical one is absolutely fine, and if it has good stats such as melee, crit, high phys it will perform perfect.

Gloves Tech:

With Way of the Stonefist, any gloves we use get changed to a more powerful version. So you want to go for evasion/energy shield and as many damage types as possible. This will give you the following:

  • Damage as EXTRA ice/cold/lighting etc
  • Extra evasion/es per level

If you manage to get the desecrated modifier "chance to gain arcane surge when you deal a critical hit". This will transform into "chance to gain a power charge on critical hit". With a fantastic modifier to have.

Headhunter:

Absolutely not required, I played this for 3 days without one and it performs fantastic in T15 maps and bosses. Its a just a great addition for speed farming if you can afford one.

How To Get More Damage:

  • Damage to attacks on rings and gloves. (fire/lightning/cold/physical)
  • + Levels to Melee Skills on quaterstaff and amulet
  • Get your gems to max level and quality them
  • Good Jewels with crit chance, crit damage or attack damage.

How it Plays

Very easy playstyle:

Bossing:

  1. Use Whirling Assault to generate power charges -> Cast Charged Staff for 60s buff.
  2. Use Whirling Assault to generate power charges -> Cast Flicker Strike

Repeat Step 2 until boss fight is over. Usually only takes 1 or 2 fully charged flickers to beat any boss.

AoE and Map Farming

  1. Use Whirling Assault to generate power charges -> Cast Charged Staff for 60s buff.
  2. When there are mobs scattered around, or mobs in the distance, cast Flicker Strike
  3. When you are surrounded by mobs, cast Falling Thunder for full screen clear.

Why do we need both skils?

Flicker Strike is great for melting the boss in seconds, and also gives us great mobility to travel long distances. But it is unpredictable. You don't want to flicker into enemies big charged up attacks, or into a pool of fire. So Falling Thunder is a great alternative for when you're getting overrun, or when you don't want to go in melee range.

How it Works

There isn't a great deal of "tech" or secrets to making this build work. We just build up power charges, and use our 3 abilities.

How to gain power charges:

We generate power charges with Whirling Assault. thanks to the support gems:

  • Culmination II allows our Whirling Assault to generate and then use combo points
  • Ailith's Chimes then lets us have a 25% change to gain a power charge on using combo. Because Whirling Assault attacks fast this racks up quickly.

Thanks to our ascendancy Martial Adept and Martial Master, we also gain significantly more combo points and gain them from all abilities.

We can also gain power charges from our gloves:

If you manage to get the desecrated modifier "chance to gain arcane surge when you deal a critical hit". This will transform into "chance to gain a power charge on critical hit". With a fantastic modifier to have.
