Build Overview

Hey guys, KallTorak here! I'm an Off-Meta creator with an affinity for silly goose time builds! This is my Flame God Smith for Leveling and End Game.

Flame God Smith of Kitava Video

My vision for this build was trying to imagine how a Smith of Kitava would train. I pictured him waking up in the morning, having a blazing hot cup of coffee before heading to the local blacksmith. He gives a wave and a good morning to the smith as he steps inside a furnace and began to meditate. The man that emerged from this flames was a master of fire! Not only would he be immune to the damage of the elements but he would violently wield the flames against his enemies. I believe I have nailed that theme with this build :)

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Living Bomb is a skill that uses 0 mana! This makes leveling through the campaign a breeze never having to be concerned with your mana usage. This also enables us to use cool skills like Mana Tempest and Zenith to enhance our damage with no downside!
  • Smith of Kitava is very budget friendly. You are very easily able to hit 90 elemental res and 75 chaos res. This is one of my tankier builds despite being on a budget.
  • Simulacrum 4 confirmed! Xecht +2 confirmed as well.
  • Nails the theme of being a fire god! Farms waystone 16s with ease. Mapping is very comfy on this build.
  • Living Bomb is a spell skill that is attached to Pyrophyte Staff. This makes leveling with difficult on league start. You are going to constantly be looking to upgrade your staff while leveling.
  • The number of support gems you can have on a weapon is attached to the level of the weapon. You are stuck at a 2 link until you get a staff in the 40s. There is no way to get a 5 link unfortunately for Living Bomb. You are stuck with a 4 link max.

Build Variants

Pyrophyte Staff is REQUIRED for this build. It is the only way to get the spell skill Living Bomb. This comes with a lot of major downsides. Links are locked to the level of the weapon you are using. You are stuck with a 2 link until you get a level 41 Pyrophyte Staff. Then you are stuck with a 3 link until you get a level 64 Pyrophyte Staff. You can NEVER get a 5 link since there aren't any level 90 Pyrophyte Staff. Since we are missing an entire support gem this is a big damage loss. We are also limited in how many gem skill levels we can get Living Bomb.

For navigating the campaign you will want to upgrade your staff frequently. You can choose to upgrade the base level of Living Bomb at the following Pyrophyte Staff levels: 16, 22, 26, 31, 36, 41, 46, 52, 58, 64, 72, 78, 84. While this is not required anytime I went more than 8ish levels without upgrading my staff the damage drop off was significant.

Pyrophyte Staff - Looking for the max roll possible of Level Of All Fire Spell Skills. This is one of the few ways we can increase the level of Living Bomb. After that looking for Spell Damage > Gain Damage as extra fire damage > Cast Speed.

Crown of the Victor - I used this helmet until end game. +1 level to all skills is nice for Living Bomb. Since we are smith we can afford to use a piece like this.

Infernoclasp - I used this until level 90. Great smith belt and you can honestly keep using this forever depending on your budget.

Doedre's Tenure - Good for leveling in the campaign. We eventually replace this with Leopold's Applause.

Amulet - Levels to Spell Skills is most important. Very important for leveling up Living Bomb.

Runes - Greater Desert Rune is great for your Pyrophyte Staff. Lesser Desert Rune & Desert Rune at lower levels. Bear Talisman in your Crown of the Victor to help with the AoE clear.

The majority of gameplay is just holding down your Living Bomb button! We are limited to a two link so Overabundance lets us get another bomb out. Fast Forward makes the bombs go off faster. When finally combined with Near at Hand and Forthcoming your bombs will be going off instantly!

Raging Spirits is the only early game spirit gem we get value out of. It's mainly just a meat shield but they can help finish enemies off with Culling Strike.

Blasphemy with Flammability is a nice damage increase during the campaign. This is the main reason we are leveling with Pariah's Embrace.

Mana Tempest is amazing when paired with Living Bomb. We get the full benefit of the added lightning damage but no downside since it has no mana cost. This is a HUGE increase in damage for bossing.

Solar Orb used to apply exposure. I prefer this over Incinerate since we would need passive swaps to get that setup working better. Only really use solar orb on top of rares and bosses.
