Build Overview

***** THINGS ARE STILL SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO NEW LEAGUE BUT I WILL UPDATE THE GUIDE AS WE GO*****

Overview

This build is centered around taking advantage of the new Facebreaker Gloves to supercharge our Unarmed Damage through Hollow Palm Technique with Intelligence Stacking. This should be in theory much higher damage compared to the old variants of Hollow Palm Technique that often fell off in the end game compared to Quarterstaves.

We will likely use Flicker Strike in this build, but it is very flexible and can be used with most skills.

Why Martial Artist?

Since we mainly use Gathering Storm wtih Tempest Bell as our single target, Martial Master is extremely useful for gaining combo. Additionally Ailith's Chimes with Mantra of Destruction is a ton of damage and sustain combined with Martial Adept. (THIS INTERACTION IS CURRENTLY BUGGED!)

Facebreaker are stat stacking items as well, which will let us use stat runes in our body with Runic Meridians.

What Skill Will This Build Use?

Flicker Strike is likely the skill we will be mainly using in this build. However, this build is very flexible and can be used with many different skills, so feel free to use what feels fit to you.

I will also likely go and try to explode Tempest Bell with Gathering Storm at the endgame when I get all my ascendancy points (THIS IS CURRENTLY BUGGED AND DOESN'T WORK).

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Doesn't need to keep it's weapon up-to-date throughout the campaign, so it is a very smooth leveling experience.
  • Very fast attack speed and high base critical chance if built well.
  • Looks very stylish
  • Expensive to scale into the late game with Facebreakers since it requires stat stacking

DISCLAIMER

You will need at least 350-400 Intelligence to make this build at least feel somewhat comparable to the Quarterstaff version you were running before. Check PoB to make sure your character will do enough damage.

Equipment

Overall Rule of Thumb

Get Intelligence on every piece of gear if you can fit it without destroying your resistances.

Runic Meridians

Gloves: The Greatwolf's Rune of Claws

Chest Armour: 1x The Greatwolf's Rune of Willpower

All other slots, use Greater Resolve Rune to stack Int.

Helmet

ES with as much ES and Res as possible.

Gloves

Facebreaker is what you want to use at this point.

Use 1x Rune of Renown for Glory Generation since we use Ancestral Cry.

Chest Armour

Energy Shield/Evasion Chest Armour with as much ES, EV, and Resists as possible.

Forgotten Warden is a really good option for someone with a low budget but wants more defenses. For the skill that it comes with, link it with Loyalty, Meat Shield II, and Hulking Minions. Use any Talisman skill you want with it.

Boots

Pretty straightforward - as much Evasion and Energy Shield as possible and Resistances as possible. As high Movement Speed as possible. If you can get Chance to not Remove Charges line, that is BiS.

Amulet

Best in slot would be a rare amulet with:

  • +3 to Melee Skill Levels
  • As much Intelligence as possible
  • %Intelligence or All Attributes
  • As much Energy Shield as Possible

Annoint Tribal Fury

Rings

Get as much Flat Damage and Intelligence as possible. Get an Unset Ring if you want to use Forge Hammer.

Belt

Darkness Enthroned (body armour) with Idol of Eramir. The 2nd slot is flexible.

Jewels

The Unique Jewels are:

Controlled Metamorphosis - Medium-Large Ring

Heart of the Well

  • Dmg Gained as Extra Fire
  • Dmg Gained as Extra Lightning
  • Crit Chance
  • Crit Dmg

For the Rare Jewels, prioritize the following stats in this order:

  1. Crit Chance
  2. Crit Damage
  3. Energy Shield

DISCLAIMER

You will need at least 350-400 Intelligence to make this build at least feel somewhat comparable to the Quarterstaff version you were running before. Check PoB to make sure your character will do enough damage.

Mapping

You need to make sure you always have Staggering Palm buff up and Power Charges. If you see yourself running out of the buff, use Staggering Palm on an enemy to stun them or on your Hollow Focus bells.

When you use Flicker Strike, hold down Reaper's Invocation while flickering and you will get the charges after you finish the Flicker Strike.

You can also use Killing Palm on the Bells from Hollow Focus for power charges if you find yourself running out.

Bossing

At the moment, the Tempest Bell and Gathering Storm explosion interaction is BUGGED! It does no damage :(

Until it gets fixed, you can either just use Flicker Strike to one shot the boss if you are strong enough. Or if you aren't, you want to throw a Forge Hammer at the boss (if you are running it). Then you use Ancestral Cry. After that, use Whirling Assault until you gain enough combo for Tempest Bell. Drop 2x Tempest Bell then Whirling Assault. Repeat until the boss is dead.
