PoE 2 Build
Earthshatter Warbringer with Hammer of the Gods
Warrior
Warbringer
Expert
Starter
Build Overview
This is essentially a slam build that uses warcries to clear and buff our Earthshatter as well as use Hammer of the Gods in order to do large single target on bosses/rare monsters.
Huge shoutout to nugiyen(twitch.tv/nugiyen) for the idea, as I try to put my own twist and minmax it over time and share it with you guys!
Why Warbringer over titan? Simple. Explosions. Warcaller's Bellow
Equipment
I filled in the general gear, but for progressing the endgame your goal is Life + resistance on every item(except weapon) and after getting that you can focus on bonus mods. Movement speed required on boots. Strength is a very nice bonus and you want to fill this in where you can get it. We need a lot of strength to make use of Giant's Blood . Attack Speed feels good to play with and removes some self stunning. Chaos Resistance is hard to come by but there is a LOT of chaos damage in this game so try to get it where you can.
Early Mapping Gear:
- CAP ELEMENTAL RESISTS ASAP + WORK ON CHAOS RES. I HIGHLY suggest you use an Advanced mace base of your choice(I prefer Temple Maul for the attack speed) as the STR requirement is a bit lower which allows us to get Giant's Blood sooner.
- Until we have the STR for Giant's Blood , we will just use a 2handed mace as normal.
When Giant's Blood?
- A shield with block chance is INCREDIBLE defense and helps us out immensely with surviving maps and allows us to get resist cap quicker. You'll need around 370 STR depending on the weapon you choose, which can be achieved around level 75-85. Also you don't need an insane Expert weapon to do solid damage, I am able to kill bosses within 1 stun in tier 14+ waystones very easily with a mediocre weapon.
Fixing mana:
- Low level Infernal Cry helps a lot. Make sure to use Lifetap and Inspiration in your warcry links.
- ONE mana leech roll on an item can hard carry your mana recovery, allowing you to not need to use your mana flask very often. As a last resort you can use a Mind Rune.
Lategame Mace:
Once you have a substantial amount of STR on your gear, you can roll an Expert Leaden Greathammer or whichever base you prefer with flat physical damage + %increased physical damage + attack speed and MOST IMPORTANTLY reduced attribute requirements to make it much easier to acquire enough STR to equip it. Will be very hard to craft this item.
Leveling:
Leveling melee is challenging, your weapon will determine how easy it is so try your best to upgrade it when you can. Try to get resists so you can take some hits during long animations. First two ascendancy points should go into Anvil's Weight and then respec it once you swap to Earthshatter level 60+.
I personally leveled with this setup which was fairly smooth and swapped to Earthshatter after taking Greatwolf's Howl and having Upheaval support(lvl3):
Your goal is to proc prime for stun using Mace Strike or Leap Slam (highlight above enemies heads) and then use Boneshatter in order to finish them off and splash. Perfect Strike for single target, make sure to buff it with Infernal Cry. Once you unlock Sunder make sure to use it while bosses/tanky rares are stunned with armor broken for large burst. Replace Sunder with Hammer of the Gods when unlocked.
Mace Strike - Ruthless - Overpower - Close Combat
Boneshatter - Impact Shockwave - Magnified Effect
Perfect Strike - Window of Opportunity - Fire Infusion - Execute
Shockwave Totem - Lacerate (can stop using after act 1/2 probably)
Leap Slam - Martial Tempo
Infernal Cry - Premeditation
Herald of Ash
Sunder - Fist of War - Concentrated Effect - Supercritical
Shield Charge (on weaponswap)
prio 4 links are perfect strike > mace strike > boneshatter > anything else.
Skill Gems
Support Gem Requirements:
Str 95
Dex 10
Int 5
Earthshatter
Seismic Cry
Hammer of the Gods
Infernal Cry
Shield Charge
Leap Slam
Herald of Ash
Berserk
I will likely remove Herald of Ash when I acquire a 6 link and use Armour Explosion in my Earthshatter to help my clear and then swap in Overwhelming Presence to replace HoAsh for more stun capability. TBD on using HoAsh forever.
Time of Need can be used instead of Berserk if you do not have rage nodes on the skill tree yet.
Cannibalism is a REQUIRED support gem on your auras.
If you manage to get extra spirit lategame you can add Time of Need or Scavenged Plating or perhaps keep Herald of Ash .
Later down the line I may implement bleed nodes on the tree and use Lacerate on our Hammer of the Gods in order to make use of bleed, but for now this setup works great.

We are essentially just going for Attack Speed, STR, Warcry Speed/AoE, Stun Buildup, Damage Nodes + Some block stuff. Rage and block nodes are the nodes you should take past level 75.
Make sure to grab Resolute Technique when accuracy becomes a problem.
Very lategame I may choose to annoint Polymathy or some other notable to save myself a lot of passive points to put them elsewhere(likely stun buildup or bleed). but for now we path to it in order to make using Giant's Blood easier + give us some life.
My current opinion of Armour is that stacking it feels weak so we don't invest into it much, but perhaps upon later testing it will be worth it. Block and STR are what we are mainly using as our defense, with a bit of leech and recovery on kill/warcry.
I would like to make the build comfortably tanky enough to run most rare high tier waystones + juiced maps and maybe the pinnacle boss so I will keep working on improving this aspect.
How it Plays
Use Earthshatter and press your Infernal Cry Seismic Cry to blow up the spikes it creates as well as explode the corpses using Warcaller's Bellow from your ascendancy.
For bosses you want to stun them and then use your warcries before pressing Hammer of the Gods. The idea is to 2 Earthshatter + spikes and Hammer of the Gods in the stun burst window.
