Build Overview

Welcome to MrRonit's Crit Frostwolf Druid that will take you all the way from level 1 to the Endgame

Here we harness the power of the Oracle and use the Forced Outcome node to guarantee critical hits which makes it really strong! Thanks to Entwined Realities we can save so many passive points and get lots and lots of powerful Notables which means the damage scales incredibly well for the endgame!

The build excels at freezing enemies with Lunar Assault before Shred triggers ice fragments which explode through Cross Slash to deal huge burst damage on bosses! One freeze and you can nuke a boss down!

We also have Lunar Blessing which calls down moonbeams to inflict great AoE damage whilst clearing maps. We manage to have 100% uptime on Lunar Blessing as we manage to stack so much rage within the build thanks to Eternal Rage!

The build has incredible survivability thanks to us having incredible life regeneration/leech and % life on kill!!

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Incredible Boss DPS + Freeze makes campaign a breeze
  • Incredible AoE makes mapping super easy even with dense packs in Abyss/Breach
  • Combo gameplay is super satisfying
  • Fast, good CC
  • Not a single button build

Build Variants

Entwined Realities is an incredible ascendancy node which lets you allocate passive skills without them being connected! This saves us like 20-25 passive points to use elsewhere!

Here we now get Blood Magic so we can allocate nearby nodes via Entwined Realities so we need leech and %life on kill

We also manage to slot in Eternal Rage to constant rage generation so we're always at maximum rage and can get so much more damage, more defences through Vengeful Fury and 100% uptime on Lunar Blessing

Mandatory Stats/Items

1) Spirit - you need +30 spirit across your body/amulet to fit in Eternal Rage. It is cheaper to do this on your chest piece as amulet with both spirit and +levels to melee skills can be expensive!

2) Sapphire with +1-2% life on kill

3) Gloves/ring with one affix with leech physical damage as life

4) High STR/INT/Dex - Herald of Ice requires dex, our talisman requires high str, and pure ES boots requires high INT. Lots of your gear needs stats! +all attributes is worth its weight in gold as we need ALL 3 STATS

Gear Priority List

1) Talisman - ideally you want a Maji Talisman or a Nettle Talisman as they provide more maximum rage or more crit chance. Socket 2x Greater Iron Rune and Aim for these affixes:

    • High physical damage (and other flat damage is okay)
    • +5 to attack skills level (better than melee as attack skills also applies to Herald of Ice
    • Chance to gain onslaught or attack speed
    • Gain Extra Damage as Physical/Cold
    • Increased Damage with Elemental Attacks/Empowered Attacks is less optimal but also okay if you're looking for budget

2) Chest piece - Hybrid ES/Armour to maximise Ancient Aegis. Look for resistances, maximum life and spirit

3) Helmet - Pure Armour as we have Ruinic Helm. Look for %armour applies also applies to elemental damage - this will give you amazing damage reduction on elements before resistances are applied! Look for resistances, maximum life as well. If you are lower level and don't have Ruinic Helm unlocked then use a ES/Armour Hybrid Helmet!

4) Boots - you want pure energy shield as we have the Iron Slippers node

5) Amulet - can be a very expensive slot. +levels to melee skills (1 cheap, 2 medium, 3 expensive) can be an expensive affix and global defences can also be expensive. You can also get spirit here but it will bump the price up significantly. If struggling price-wise cap out resistances and look for +all attributes here then add in +melee skill levels later

6) Rings - high phys/cold damage (other flat damage is okay), look for resistances, stats, rarity

7) Gloves - Look for high phys/cold/flat damage, you can also get +levels to melee skills here but again expensive. Other good stats include attack speed, resistances and maximum life. Socket for The Greatwolf's Rune of Claws for more physical damage. I went for Soul Core of Tacati for a bit more chaos resistance!

8) Belt - you can find +20-30 strength here for cheap! Look for 3 charm slots, resistances, maximum life!

Jewels

At least 1 Sapphire with 1-2% max life on kill is mandatory. 2 Sapphire with max life on kill is even better for survivability! Other good stats include critical damage bonus, maximum energy shield, area of effect!

Look for Time-Lost Emerald (Large radius if you're rich, medium radius if you're poor) with critical damage bonus for attack damage. You can also get critical hit chance for attacks as an affix but this WILL make it expensive!

Anoint

Anoint amulet with Overwhelming Strike for more crit damage and crit chance!

  • Eternal Rage requires 100 spirit along with 30 spirit from Herald of Ice. If you can get more spirit from your amulet/chest piece then add in Vitality II for even more life regeneration


  • Lunar Blessing got changed recently and its cooldown has been increased - DO NOT USE Second Wind III anymore as it will make the cooldown too long for 100% uptime. Instead Cooldown Recovery II and Prolonged Duration II is sufficient!


  • For Lunar Assault you want Bhatair's Vengeance instead of Ice Bite II as soon as possible as it will scale damage based off your rage and thanks to Eternal Rage, Maji Talisman, Anger Management we have a REALLY high amount of maximum rage so we can scale damage with Bhatair's Vengeance like crazy!


  • Holy Descent on Pounce means we get Consecrated Ground which gives you 5% maximum life regeneration per second! This adds even more survivability


  • Savage Fury we use on weapon set II - this means it doesn't use any of our spirit (possibly a bug) when we're in werewolf form (weapon set I). It is still worth popping this even if we gain onslaught buff from our weapon as Savage Fury gives you a damage buff on top! If this ever gets fixed take it off the build, not required as get onslaught from our weapon!

The Unseen Path lets you allocate nodes with the blue/purple lines - this is more useful later as you're getting higher level and running out of good nodes so don't get this as you first ascendancy

Entwined Realities is a phenomenal ascendancy node that lets you get non-keystone passive skills WITHOUT CONNECTING NODES

  • We pick up Blood Magic Keystone so we can allocate Vengeful Fury, Prism Guard, Projectile Bulwark without any connecting nodes. You can also allocate Cold Coat, Splitting Ground later on when you have a good Time-Lost Emerald. Blood Magic changes our skills to use life so we NEED % life on kill on sapphire and physical damage leech as life on gloves/ring.
  • We also pick up Ancestral Bond Keystone - this does nothing for us BUT we this lets us allocate Electrified Claw, Spirit of the Wyvern, Scales of the Wyvern, Dimensional Weakspot, Dangerous Blossom, Stormcharged WITHOUT connecting nodes!
  • We also get Mind Over Matter which doesn't matter as we use Blood Magic but this allows us to get Sanguimantic Rituals and Touch the Arcane so we regenerate EVEN MORE life! We also get Ruinic Helm for even more ES/Armor!

How it Plays

There are so many cool interactions within the build that really scale its offensive and defensive capabilities!

Offensive scaling

1) High Maximum Rage - scales damage higher directly, and through Bhatair's Vengeance on Lunar Assault. We have really high maximum rage due to Maji Talisman and Anger Management. High rage also extends the timer for Lunar Blessing meaning we have CONSTANT moonbeams raining down for mapping!

2) Entwined Realities lets us get SO many notable passive skills around Keystones such as Blood Magic, Mind Over Matter and Ancestral Bond which really boost our damage!

3) Passive rage generation through Eternal Rage means there's no time wasted building up rage for boss fights

Defensive scaling

1) Hybrid Life + ES gives us around 4k eHP.

2) %Life on kill through 2x Sapphire within the build and Leech Physical Damage as Life.

3) Life regeneration per second - through gear (such as my rings above) and then we also use Holy Descent on Pounce so we can stand in Consecrated Ground whilst spamming our skills. Consecrated Ground gives us a MASSIVE amount of life regeneration letting us tank most things!

4) We also get even more life regeneration through Sanguimantic Rituals and Touch the Arcane which we can allocate near Mind Over Matter

The life regeneration/Leech and Life on Kill is so crazy it let's you offset Blood Magic completely!

How it Works

Map Clearing/Adds

1) Use Pounce to traverse between packs - this also applies Consecrated Ground through Holy Descent

2) Spam Lunar Assault - this will trigger Herald of Ice

3) Use Lunar Blessing whilst at max rage to get maximum duration

4) Use Savage Fury to keep up onslaught + dmg buff


Boss Rotation

1) Use Thunderstorm

2) Use Pounce to activate Freezing Mark. Then spam Lunar Assault.

3) Once frozen - use Arctic Howl for a damage buff then spam Shred to trigger ice fragments

4) Finish boss with Cross Slash after two full rounds of Shred
