Shield Wall + Avatar of Fire Titan Build
THIS HAS BEEN UPDATED FOR 0.5: LEVELING VARIANTS SOON, CHECK THE NOTE BELOW
Classically, this build was great at slaying pinnacles very quickly with the
Shield Wall and
Fortifying Cry combo with a ton of Ignite damage attached to each thanks to
Avatar of Fire. However, clearing was usually not so great since I was mostly relying on
Resonating Shield with
Fortifying Cry instead of
Shield Wall spam. The clearing wasn't TERRIBLE, but not as good as it could have been.
Now I've invested into more AoE and some skill speed, and not only is the
Resonating Shield and
Fortifying Cry combo much-improved, but we can also throw down
Shield Walls very quickly to shotgun any groups or rares while running maps, simulacrums, etc.
NOTE: I am not running Kaom's Madness or Ahn's Citadel, which is a very obviously strong combo for
Shield Wall spam when clearing, but I have enough AoE that
Shield Wall is reaching the edge of my screen and I find that being able jump around with
Leap Slam and tapping
Resonating Shield with a
Fortifying Cry pre-loaded saves me time as I am able to stay moving while clearing weaker groups, for the most part.
This is also a budget-friendly build; I discuss cheaper alternatives in the video guide, but essentially if you are just leveling up a Warrior in early endgame you can start with lower +weapon skill pieces of gear to save on $.
Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients 0.5 Update
GGG has nerfed the
Fortifying Cry +
Shield Wall combo so that we no longer benefit from multiple Shield Waves overlapping and "shotgunning" bosses down, which is a big nerf to damage, HOWEVER, this build is likely going to survive due to not relying HEAVILY on that interaction and instead leaning into inflicting strong Ignites with
Shield Wall.
I still think that
Fortifying Cry will still be the ideal detonator for
Shield Wall; it's still just more damage as you blow it up, even if it's only 1 Shield Wave's worth of damage shot out instead of 10ish. You should also be bolstering up your
Shield Walls with
Infernal Cry, so honestly you're still gonna be hitting really hard.
FOR THE LEVELING: I will update this guide in due time with the leveling portion, but it is nearly identical to the
Smith of Kitava version of the build, which I'll link here. You can follow along with gear priority and how the Passive Skill Tree shapes up Act-by-Act, though one major difference is that you should make sure to get your Ascendancy points as early as possible in Act 2 and 3 so you can get
Hulking Form as early as possible. It's very strong.
Stay tuned for more updates, but right now the passive skill tree is what is optimal for the current version of the build.
