Build Overview

Intro:

Heello Internet, this is the Amazon Wolf Girl. The lowest budget way to live out your fantasies of being a furry (jk). This guide has a Full Step by Step levelling setup, Gearing Setup, Crafting VIDEO Guides For all the gear that is Self Craftable, and explains everything you can do to solve any potential issues. I will keep that updated with any more questions that pop up from the masses.

Build Overview:

This build revolves around using the Amazon ascendancy Penetrate and Critical Strike to scale a bunch of crit and flat damage for the wolf form. This allows to make very cheap and efficient damage upgrades, while also getting very solid defences thanks to Stalking Panther. This on a league start will be the strongest way to play as A Wolf specifically, especially in the current state of the game where gear is hard to craft on the top end so being able to do so cheaply and efficiently is very useful.

Please Note: This character is Not your every day Path of Exile build. The Wolf plays Extremely different to anything I've ever played in this game, theoretically its a Melee Combo build but it does not feel like it at all. It truly feels like you are playing as a werewolf in an RPG Skyrim Dark Souls-like game. There are many buttons but they all transition into each other seamlessly, making everything feel buttery smooth no matter what stage you are at.

Why Amazon and Not Druid?

Druid has the potentially to be very strong, most likely stronger, than amazon defensely and offensively but with Much higher levels of investment. You would need 5-10x the currency to gear a druid to reach the same level of damage that an Amazon would have. So on a League start scenario, or a fun Budget build to try, Amazon takes the cake. If you want to scale it very high, then Druid is the way to go.

Plus, who doesn't want to be a Wolf Girl right? And Huntress has a great voice actress.

Potential Issues:

This is a Melee Build.

You will be in close range to do damage, and if you have not played a melee build before this means you will be getting hit Alot in the early game before you get proper evasion gear. It means alot of life flask uses and playing Not full Oonga Boonga ranger.

Mana Issues:

The Build has Crazy mana cost issues (They will probably be nerfed next season, but for now we suffer). You will feel these the moment you start playing Wolf, all the way till the end of the endgame. This means you will need specific mods on gear to help solve it, and occassionally press your mana flask too. So be prepared for that.

HOW TO PERMA SOLVE MANA ISSUES BY LOSING SOME DAMAGE OR QOL ENDGAME:

You can use a Oisín's Oath lineage gem in your Lunar Assault in place of one of the damage supports or the aoe support gem. This, combined with 1 source of Phys Damage Leeched as Mana on your ring or gloves will solve all mana issues for the most part.

How the Skills Play:

All the skill rotations are written in the skill gem section of each different build variation while levelling all the way into endgame.

TALISMANS:

If you ever feel like you aren't doing as much damage, it means your talisman isn't good. Very early on you just want as much flat damage as possible. %Phys is Okay, but act 1-2 it's not as good as just flat damage numbers. The build does Not have ANY point where it struggles heavily on Damage, so if you are struggling that means it is a talisman issue (Or a skill rotation issue, refer to the skill rotations for each act for this).

Late game you want as Much Accuracy Rating as possible. %Phys is okay but funnily enough getting BIG tiers of Flat cold and Flat lightning alongside Accuracy is the best talisman you can get for Amazon. Make sure to use Greater Vision Rune for even more accuracy.

Suffixes you want Crit chance and Attack speed then Perfect Essence of Battle for +5 skills. Onslaught essence is not good since Savage Fury already gives Onslaught.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Very fast and comfortable playstyle, High attack speed + wolf mobility
High defense from Stalking Panther Evasion + a Big Energy shield chest piece
Herald of Ice satisfying Ice Crack explosions feel great. I hope they add Herald MTX soon.
Very Budget Friendly

Multiple Buttons. As stated above it does not Feel clunky with the buttons, but you will need to press a few.
Melee build. Very reliant on a good Talisman weapon, and defense gear.
The devs did not add a taunt that lets you do a badass howl after killing a boss. Big L here devs come on now

Wolf Form will feel somewhat weak in the early stages due to it's very poor defences. This can be played around by Not going full balls deep, but using the Range of Lunar Assault to freeze the pack first, Then use Shred to close the gap, pull out ice fragments then let them pop on their own. Once you unlock Cross Slash later it will feel much better.

Ranged enemies are a Problem however, to get around that I recommend using Armour gear in this stage of the game. It will feel weak but will Very quickly pick up the pace as you continue on.

Im focusing mostly Evasion gear in act 2, it makes a big difference to how much chip damage you take while doing your combo. In Act 1 you Will be focusing more on Armour instead. Try to get Strength Int attributes on your amulet to make gearing easier.

Talisman is your main thing. Make sure you have a good one otherwise you will feel like absolute garbage.

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF VENDORS EARLY GAME. They will very often give you Insanely powerful Talisman upgrades. Check the vendor every time you level up for new Talismans as the window refreshes per level up.

Do Not Use Your Gold Too Much At This Stage. You want to use your gold before the Act 2 Final Boss if you do not have a good Talisman by then.

Gem Priority

Make sure to set Savage Fury to weapon set 2. This is currently Potentially "bugged" since it reserves the spirit on the other weapon set, but still generates fury and is castable with your first weapon set.

Keep Your Distance. Pounce is mostly a useless ability since your wolf pack does no damage. You want to use this in act 2 once you get Freezing Mark socketed Into pounce.

Skill Rotation for Clearing BEFORE Freezing Mark:

Lunar Assault until even a single mob in the pack is frozen. Shred Will gap close automatically. Let it pull out a few ice fragments, then Cross Slash to blow them up. If you do not have Cross Slash Yet in the early early game, let the fragments blow up on their own just walk away after you hit a few times, the Chill will keep them slowed long enough on the fragments to pop them.

If your Talisman is good enough, Just your Lunar Assault can be spammed to freeze then shatter enemies, resulting in Herald of Ice clearing everything else.

Skill Rotation for Single Target:

Pounce in, Lunar Assault until target is around 75% Freeze for Bosses, 50% For Rares, then Arctic Howl to Freeze and get bonus damage. Shred as much as possible in this time. Cross Slash to finish.

If you have freezing mark, then you will use Arctic Howl after the target is frozen.

Frost Bomb Thunderstorm Are used to apply Cold Exposure and Drenched to make the target easier to freeze.

1) How am i reserving everything with 115 Spirit??
Ghost Dance has reservation efficiency when you quality it with a gemcutter's prism.

2) I feel squishy early game what should I do?
Wolf Will feel squishy early on, in act 1 go for armour, starting act 2 try to get as much evasion as possible on gear at all times. As you progress it will start to feel less squishy and better overall.
