Build Overview

This is a Gemling Mercenary that is basically playing as a warrior with lots of strength (life) and mace skills. Taking advantage of other skills that are difficult for the warrior to use that help buff the archetype further.

This character should be made with some gear prepared already, not recommended as a starter but should still work if you really want to go for it.

This build can easily get over 10000 life and have very high resistances.

Good stats to look for on items:

Amulet: generic str/stats/life/spirit/resist stats/melee gems

Rings: str/life/resists

Belt: str/life/resists

Boots: highest move spd/str/life/resists

Helm: Hybrid Armour/Evasion or Pure Evasion as Evasion > Armour by quite a bit. Str/Life/Resists. Remember pure evasion cannot roll str.

Gloves: life/str/melee gem/atk spd/resists

Make sure you get some chaos resistance, ideally close to cap or cap.

Morior Invictus with %attributes and/or %life is very powerful or can give other useful stats such as all elemental resistances. Socket with %life soul cores ideally.

Mahuxotl's Machination is good with 3 sockets and ideally life or resist all soul cores. 2 sockets is obviously fine. A rare shield with block scaling can be substituted.

Polcirkeln gives the build map clear else it will be pretty mid at best as will chain shatter across the map.

Astramentis is pretty insane if you can get one.

Mace Strike with Herald of Ice with Polcirkeln to map clear.

Infernal Cry should empower Hammer/Perfect Strike to significant increase single target damage. (very important)

Hammer of the Gods with bleed scaling to deal damage, make sure you are capped bleed% chance. Bleed duration scales this the most in general as we just care about the total damage per hammer cast.

Perfect Strike to deal a very large ignite ideally should be used after Hammer of the Gods for maximum single target damage.

Wind Dancer only good if you have some evasion to work with, most defensive spirit skills are pretty weak in comparison.

Ghost Dance only works if you have a ratio of evasion/energy shield to work with each other. For example: I have 4500 evasion w/ 300 maximum energy shield.

Herald of Ice should do enough damage to practically cascade and clear almost all trash in a single Mace Strike . But a couple hits is okay too.

Temporal Chains increases the duration of our ignite and bleed from our big single target skills but also slows the target down significantly. Can cast this after Hammer of the Gods is initially cast.

4 Gem Studded or Thaumaturgical Infusion



Gem Studded vs Thaumaturgical Infusion both can work, just make sure you are using a good amount of duped support gems that make sense if you use Gem Studded. Skills such as Leap Slam or extra spirit reservation skills if you have the spirit. Lots of options here.


Thaumaturgical Infusion lets you fill up and scale max res by filling up your gems/links so just having pointless fodder skills can increase your max res quite a bit.
