Adler Build Guide

Increases DEF by 12% for each Type III Module equipped.

Adler’s top performance comes in Scorch teams, but also work in Discord and Hexed teams.

Mono Scorch Team 

Adler, Baicang, Sakiri, Daffodill (Lacrimosa later)

With only Chaos and Incantation characters, the only possible reaction in the team is Scorch. The ideal team involves Lacrimosa as a limited Chaos character, and three S-Class Standard characters (Baicang, Daffodill, and Sakiri). If you don’t have one of the standard characters or didn’t pull for Lacrimosa, Adler is a perfect alternative.

Hyper Lacrimosa Discord Budget Team

Lacrimosa, Adler, Haniel, Daffodill

Adler fits comfortably into any Discord team, enabling Scorch procs, and in turn, Discord. He’s a F2P alternative to Sakiri, while not as powerful as her, he still debuffs enemies, and protects the team while filling the Incantation slot.

Nanally Hexed Budget  Team 

Nanally, Jiuyuan, Zero, Adler

Nanally doesn’t require Hexed to function, and prefers mono Blossom teams with Hotori. But since her core team is adjacent to Incantation element, and both Nanally and Jiuyuan trigger Blossom with Zero, Adler can work as a budget Incantation character to replicate portion of all Anima damage done through Hexed reaction (Anima + Incantation)

• Alternative: The Fools' Spring (F2P, A-Class)
• Early F2P: Umbrella 

Adler doesn’t have an S-Class signature weapon, and all S-Class weapons don't work as a stat stick for him, as he scales with DEF not ATK. The only two valid options are A-Class The Fools' Spring, and Umbrella, as both have a huge DEF substat. 

Umbrella pulls ahead with extra shield strength passive, while The Fool’s Spring has a useless ATK passive that only affects normal attacks which is a tiny portion of Adler DPS. His skill, DoT, and Ultimate all scale with DEF, while Scorch scales with Cycle Intensity.

You get Umbrella early in the game, so you should stick with it from start to finish.

• Cartridge: Kingdom's Guard (S)
• Cartridge Main Stat: DEF%
• Substats: DEF% / Universal DMG% / Cycle Intensity / CRIT Rate 

In all scenarios, Adler is most suited to equip the Kingdom's Guard (S)cartridge, to increase DEF% and Shield strength.

Console bonus gives Adler 12% DEF with every Type III module, and Kingdom’s Guard set requires 2x Type III modules. So you can stack a total of four Type III modules, for 48% DEF. That’s a great passive boost for Adler offensive and defensive capability.

DEF% is the most suitable Main Stat for Adler, and doesn’t suffer diminishing returns.

The ideal substats are DEF%, DMG%, and Cycle Intensity. For the fourth stat, it can be either Crit Rate or Crit DMG, aiming to keep the Crit Rate to Crit DMG ratio closer to 1:2

Skill > Ultimate > Basic Attacks = Support Skill

Adler DoT and most of his DPS comes from skill, followed by Ultimate. While his shield strength scales solely with his skill level. So prioritize his skill above all, and ignore his basic attack and support skill, as these scale with ATK not DEF and don't deal good damage.
