Marvel Rivals Marvel Rivals White Fox Character Guide

In this Marvel Rivals White Fox guide, you’ll learn the fundamentals of her abilities, unique play styles, and fundamental tips.

White Fox Overview

Kumiho is the only hybrid melee and ranged Strategist in Marvel Rivals. Sly like a fox, she excels at evading enemy dives and flanks with her teleport and dashes.

In Awakened fox form, she can go on the offense and burst down targets with quick combos and crowd control abilities. Fox's form is also an amazing anti-dive tool, allowing her to even the playing field by counterattacking.

The bounce mechanic of her primary fire gives her unique playmaking capabilities, especially around corners. Pick her up, and even if you don't main White Fox, she's definitely worth learning as a counter pick against the divers like Black Panther that are harder to deal with than ever thanks to the universal CC resistance introduced in Season 7.

TLDR White Fox Guide

How to Play As White Fox

  • Manage Spirit Tail energy through your primary fire, play safe and more passive when you don't have 3 tails.
  • Use Awakened Fox form to shut down enemy dives and secure picks.
  • During your ultimate, play aggressively and keep enemies in melee range. Your survival depends on dealing damage while balancing ally buffs that cost your own HP.

How to Play Against White Fox

  • Wait until after she has used TP or Fox Form, then aggressively focus her while she has no escapes and or counters.
  • CC her during Fox form to shut down her dash chains.
  • Stay away from her during her ult to deny her healing, then focus fire her large hurtbox.

Strengths and Weaknesses

constantlyStrengths

High Survivability

A teleport, dash, melee mode, self-healing, and crowd control make White Fox one of the most challenging Strategists to KO. Kumiho doesn't need her team to babysit or constantly peel for her.

Flexible Playstyle

She's capable of healbotting, going full DPS mode in fox state, and wiping backlines with her ult. Her kit is a combination of AoE effects, ranged, and melee. No matter what heroes she's paired with, she can adapt her strategy to fit with them.

Grants Invulnerability and Unstoppable

Spectral Surge costs one Spirit Tail but is on a short 6-second cooldown. Although the Invulnerability is only half a second, being able to make allies completely invulnerable every 6 seconds is an insane power! A well-timed right-click can save your allies from any enemy attack, stun, and many ults.

Moreover, once she has ult, spamming Fox Blessings at her allies keeps them unstoppable and immune to CC effects like knockback. This is while they are receiving a ton of healing, which puts her team into an extremely lethal state. The enemy must kite or counter-ult to survive.

Weaknesses

Long Cooldowns

Other than Spectral Surge, all her other abilities are on long cooldowns. Awakened State and her teleport can be baited out by smart enemies, who can then easily punish her during the long window where she is very vulnerable.

Dependent on resource generation

If you are not staying active with her primary fire, the uptime of important abilities like Spectral Surge will suffer, which greatly lowers her impact. This also occurs during her ultimate. Kumiho needs to constantly slam enemies to keep outputting healing and Fox Blessings.

Vulnerable During Ultimate

Kumiho Unleashed has a few problems. First off, every Fox Blessing she sends out deals 100 self-damage. Secondly, as we just mentioned, the power of the ult is reliant on keeping enemies within melee range to slam. Lastly, during the ult she has a huge hurtbox and moves very slowly. These qualities make her very vulnerable while ulting to getting quickly killed out of Nine-Tailed Fox form.

Ability Tips

Primary Fire: Yeowoo Guseul

Tips for Yeowoo Guseul

  • The only way to generate Spirit Tail energy is by using Yeowoo to heal allies and damage enemies. Most other moves drain the energy.
  • Bounces once. If you direct hit an ally or enemy, the marbel will lock on to a 2nd target.
    • Works with floor bounces as well. You can hit an enemy or target around a corner by shooting the floor since the marbel will still lock on to a nearby target.

Secondary Fire: Spectral Surge

Tips for Spectral Surge

  • Defensively: Grants allies momentary invulnerability. Correctly timed, you can save them from crowd control, stunning ultimates like Dr. Strange's, and even oneshot death attacks like Scarlet Witch's ultimate.
  • Offensively: The brief charm is like a miniature Emma Frost ultimate. It forces enemies to walk toward you. Especially good for comboing with another ally attack or an AoE ability.

[SHIFT]: Spirit Sanctuary

Tips for Spirit Sanctuary

  • Incredible escape tool. Instantly escape, then heal, and protect with the shield.
  • Position on slight off angles from the allies you want to TP to, to maximize distance traveled and create space from the attacker and yourself.
  • Poke Battles
    • When you are not getting flanked, TP into an ally next to you just to generate the barrier. Doing so allows you to proactively enable your teams poke pressure and deny the enemy's..

[E]: Fox Form Awakening

Tips for Fox Form Awakening

  • Each tail increases the duration of Awakened, from 7 to 9 seconds.
  • Good for fighting back against flankers and divers. You have decent melee damage and are constantly healing yourself.
  • This is your aggressive attacking form. Focused on self-protection or aggression. Use it to peel for fellow strategists, or when your team doesn't need your healing.

(Awakened) Primary Fire: Claw Strike

  • Striking enemies with Claws sends out pulses of AoE healing to nearby allies.

(Awakened) Secondary Fire: Tail Sweep

  • A good CC tool primarily used for combos.
  • Can also be useful as a "get off me" button.

(Awakened) [SHIFT] Predatory Pounce

Tips for Predatory Pounce

  • After hitting the first dash, you can chain another, similar to Black Panther.
  • After dash string, finish with Tail Sweeps and Claws for nice burst damage.

Ultimate: Kumiho Unleashed

Description

Manifest the full Nine-Tailed Fox form and continuously heal nearby allies. Cannot receive healing effects from others while in this form.

Tips for Kumiho Unleashed

In Kumiho Form, White Fox has an alternate primary and secondary fire: Ninefold Slam, and Blessed By the Nine

Hold primary fire and spam secondary to maximize APM.

  • The AoE circle around Kumiho heals allies, but not yourself.
    • The slam is both melee and AoE. On hit, generates self and AoE healing.
    • Only means of survival. You have to use your ult aggressively to attack the enemies, or else you will die with no sustain.
  • Healing, Unstoppable, and Lifesteal are extremely strong for your allies. But each blessing you send out costs you 100 HP.
  • Best used in brawly and grouped-up team fights where you will have both allies and enemies within your AoE range.
    • Can also be used defensively at range. Hide and spam blessings while chipping away at your own health.

Team-Up: Spirit Fox Ward

DESCRIPTION

White Fox grants Luna Snow a spirit fox for protection. Luna can activate it for a burst of speed and fire it forward, healing allies in its path while applying Charm to enemies.

Luna Snow

Tips for Spirit Fox Ward

  • For Luna, the brief charm is like a miniature Emma Frost ultimate. It forces enemies to walk toward her.
  • Good for increasing Luna's survivability through offensive pressure and healing.

Synergies

Team Comp Synergies

White Fox has a flexible kit that allows her to fit with multiple team comp styles. Her ranged healing makes her a good pairing with poke comps, and she can even use Spirit Sanctuary to give her ranged Duelists the advantage in poke fights.

Kumiho doesn't need her team to babysit or constantly peel for her. Instead, she can peel for them. This is another reason why she works well with poke heroes like Phoenix or Hela, since they are vulnerable to close-range attackers.

Her best comps are dive-focused, as she excels at enabling her team's dives and surviving enemy dives. Whenever you see an ally like Hulk, Black Panther, or Psylocke going deep into enemy territory and isolating their backline, TP to them to assist with the KO. Awakened state is perfect once you arrive for both damage, and using the dash to evade or survive.
