Marvel RivalsMarvel Rivals Rocket Raccoon Character Guide
Rocket Raccoon Overview
Rocket Raccoon, the mischievous tinkerer, acts as a versatile Strategist who provides a ton of unique value to almost any team comp. He can heal, offer armor packs, resurrect an ally every 45 seconds, and can even provide a team-wide damage amp ultimate.
With a ton of mobility, he's more self-sufficient than other Strategists who might need protection and peel. Although he's beginner-friendly, he has a ton of mastery for big-brain players who download the geometry of maps and their angles.

TLDR
As
- Rocket is best in class in terms of mobility and escapability, you should be near-unkillable.
- Master bouncing your Right-click off angles to keep yourself safe while maximizing your healing.
- Try to get your B.R.B. respawn beacon as close as you can to the action without putting it in danger.
Against
- If his B.R.B. respawn beacon or C.Y.A. ultimates are out of position, destroy them if you can do so safely.
- You might not be able to kill Rocket easily, but forcing him to run away from you prevents him from healing his allies consistently
- If you are using a flanking hero, finding and destroying his B.R.B. respawn beacon has the same value as getting a KO since it prevents your team from having to kill the respawned enemy twice.
Strengths and Weaknesses Summary
- Low floor to learn, high mastery potential
- Helps his team stay in the fight with resurrections
- One of the most mobile heroes in the game
- His Ultimate gets countered by other Strategists
- Lacks killing long-range power
- Can run away but lacks a counterpunch
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
Low floor to learn, high mastery potential
Rocket offers instant value for new players but also rewards you the more time you invest into playing him. This is because you'll constantly find new angles to bounce his orbs and improve the placements of his B.R.B. and C.Y.A.
Helps his team stay in the fight with resurrections
Besides Adam Warlock who can resurrect from his Ultimate or Team-up, Rocket has a resurrection on a regular ability cooldown. When used wisely, it can give his team a lot more uptime.
One of the most mobile heroes in the game
With a tiny body, wall run, burst dashes, and a slow-fall glide, Rocket can be incredibly hard for enemies to kill. This gives him more independence and less reliance on his team for protection.
Weaknesses
His Ultimate gets countered by other Strategists
Rocket's ultimate is very potent but can easily get countered by the defensive ults of other Strategists.
Lacks killing long-range power
Although Rocket has a menacing minigun, it's weaker than it looks due to its damage fall-off, wide bullet spread, and slower projectile speed.
Can run away but lacks a counterpunch
Rocket's escape options help him run away and survive but he struggles to fight back and kill a threat 1v1.
Ability Tips

Tips for Bombard Mode
- Understand when to go offensive
- If your team is up on players and healed up, don’t hesitate to let loose to help destroy Dr. Strange’s shield, enemy deployables like Peni’s spider-nest, and otherwise apply pressure.
- At its best in closer range
- When Vangaurds get close to you, Bombard Mode deals high damage. Even with its large bullet spread you’ll still be hitting every bullet on large body Vangaurd’s.
- Work with your team to kill divers
- In many cases, you’ll want to evade, but there may be situations where you can kill a diver or flanker with your team nearby.

PROJECTILE SPEED REDUCTION | 7 m/s |
Tips for Repair Mode
- Healing orbs do not stack
- Allies can only be healed by one orb at a time so keep switching between which allies you are targeting.
- Keep pumping
- A single orb heals all allies in its AoE, but more teammates will use up the orbs maximum healing faster so make sure to fire multiple orbs into groups of teammates.
- Abuse corners and angles to keep yourself safe.
- Use geometry to still hit allies that are further away
- Repair while retreating
- When you're being attacked, alternate between firing healing orbs in the direction of your retreat, and dashing or wall-running to maximize your survivability.
[SHIFT]: Jetpack Dash
DESCRIPTION | Dash forward |
KEY | SHIFT |
CASTING | Dash |
DASH DIRECTION | Crosshair Direction |
DASH DISTANCE | 8m |
COOLDOWN | 2 charges, with each charge taking 10s to recharge |
Tips for Jetpack Dash
- Stay in the mix
- Rocket is the best Strategist for positioning in the heat of the battle. Use Jetpack and wall running to be evasive and always in range to assist your team.
- Don't stay grounded
- Abuse high ground and other locations that most other heroes won’t be able to access.
- Be prepared
- Make sure to save one dash so that you can always escape enemy attacks on reaction.
- The shorter range and longer cooldown from the Season 2 nerfs mean Rocket players need to be far more intentional with Jetpack uses.
[E]: B.R.B.
DESCRIPTION | Deploy a Battle Rebirth Beacon that revives a fallen ally and periodically produces armor packs and rocket jet packs |
KEY | E |
CASTING | Summons |
SPECIAL EFFECT | Generate an item every 3s, including Armor Pack and Rocket Boots |
MAXIMUM REVIVE DISTANCE | 50m |
BONUS HEALTH FROM ARMOR PACK | 25 |
DURATION | 300s |
COOLDOWN | 45s. You can reclaim the beacon by pressing E. When reclaimed, the cooldown will be reduced based on the beacon's remaining health. If you reclaim a full-health beacon, the minimum cooldown will be 5s |
Tips for B.R.B.
- Think ahead
- This will not resurrect an ally that is already dead, it needs to be placed while they’re alive.
- Armor up before the round begins
- Place it in the hero select lobby to grant your team armor before the round begins.
- Keep your enemies guessing
- Don’t use the same location every time so they will have difficulty finding and destroying it.
- Don't leave it far back
- If your team gains ground, feel free to destroy it and reposition it to somewhere more advantageous.
- Tell an immobile ally to grab a jump pack
- This will give them an escape ability or allow them to access areas they wouldn’t be able to otherwise.
[Q]: Ultimate: C.Y.A.
DESCRIPTION | Deploy a Cosmic Yarn Amplifier that grants allies a Damage Boost |
KEY | Q |
CASTING | Targeted ability that, when activated, summons a creature and detects allies within the area. |
DAMAGE BOOST | 25% |
BONUS HEALTH | 100/s |
MAX BONUS HEALTH | 150 |
BONUS HEALTH DECAY | 75/s after 1 second |
RANGE | 20m radius |
DURATION | 12s |
SUMMONS' HEALTH | 800 |
ENERGY COST | 4000 |
Tips for C.Y.A.
- Positioning goes a long way
- Rry to predict where your team will get the most bang for its buck. For example, if your team is going on the offensive, you can place it a little forward if you’re anticipating that they’ll move up. Similarly, if you’re going to potentially retreat, place it back.
- Be patient
- Wait until the enemy team is in a bad position to retreat or they will easily run away and wait out your ultimate.
- Wombo with other offensive ults
- Pair the ultimate with channeled offensive ultimates like the Punisher, Star-Lord, and so on to help your DPS melt your enemies.
[SPACE]: Wild Crawl
DESCRIPTION | Hold Space to run on a wall |
KEY | Space |
WALL-CRAWLING SPEED | 10m/s |
Tips for Wild Crawl
- Be annoying
- You can climb basically any surface, so be absolutely annoying to chase by wrapping around poles, pillars, roofs, and so on.
- Maximize your settings
- If you’re playing on keyboard, changing your wall run setting to “Run in direction of crosshair” makes movement way easier.
- Stay near climbable terrain
- Position near walls or structures you can quickly run up and jump off of as this will make you even more difficult to eliminate.
[SPACE]: Flying Ace
DESCRIPTION | Hold Space to fall slowly |
KEY | Space |
DESCENDING SPEED |
Tips for Flying Ace
- Stall and shmoove
- Be a mix-up movement menace by using this in combination with your dash and wall run.
- Don't float predictably
- Purely holding down to float will be a predictable movement, so try a combination of slow and fast-falling to be unpredictable.
Team-Up: OId Friends
DESCRIPTION | Jeff the Land Shark and Rocket Raccoon can ride on Groot's shoulders, receiving Damage Reduction |
KEY | C |
CASTING | Targeted |
RANGE | Up to 12m |
SPECIAL EFFECT | Pressing SHIFT will exit the Team-Up status with Groot |
DAMAGE REDUCTION |
Tips for OId Friends
- It's situational
- Being able to hop on Groot’s shoulder is awesome for the lore power fantasy, but in most cases, you’re going to want to be in the backline to have a better view of the battlefield.
- Provides a burst of survivability
- There are situations though were you can dash to Groot for that extra boost of survivability to save your life, so just keep that in mind in a pinch.
Team-Up: Web Server
DESCRIPTION | Rocket Raccoon upgrades his B.R.B. by integrating the Bionic Spider-Nest effect. Now, the beacon creates Cyber-Webs when placed and periodically spawns Arachno-Mines and Spider-Drones, and can be linked with Peni Parker’s current Cyber-Webs. The beacon has a lower possibility of generating armor packs and generates extra Arachno-Mines |
KEY | E |
ARMOR PACK GENERATE FREQUENCY | 6s per pack |
SPRIDER-DRONE GENERATE INTERVAL | 3s |
SPRIDER-DRONE GENERATE QUANTITY PER ROUND | 1 |
SPRIDER-DRONE EXPLOSION RANGE | 1m spherical radius spell field |
SPRIDER-DRONE DAMAGE | 40 |
ARACHNO-MINE GENERATE INTERVAL | 3s |
ARACHNO-MINE EXPLOSION RANGE | 3m |
ARACHNO-MINE DAMAGE | 100 |
ARACHNO-MINE | 3m spherical radius spell field |
MAXIMUM ARACHNO-MINE QUANTITY | 15 |
COOLDOWN | 45s |
HEALTH OF B.R.B. | 150 |
MAXIMUM REVIVE DISTANCE | 50M |
TEAM-UP BONUS | 5% Healing Bonus |
Tips for Web Server
Prioritize the rez function
- Your B.R.B. creates half the amount of mines as Peni's nest. Peni can make use of them by using her two nests to chain together with your B.R.B, but its still more valuable to place it outside of combat so it doesn't get destroyed.
Defense for your rez beacon
- The mines make it more difficult for melee heroes to destroy the B.R.B. Also, the explosions can alert you that someone is attacking it, and may give your team time to defend.
Synergies
Team Comp Synergies
Rocket can honestly fit comfortably in any team comp, but he’s at his best when he has a fellow Strategist who has a healing ultimate.
Rocket enables a more offensive playstyle because he can provide consistent healing from anywhere on the map. Duelists and Vanguards should have no trouble being aggressive with a Rocket on their team.
A Vanguard like Groot can help CC enemies and trap them in place with walls and his ult. Add that to Rocket's damage boost ult, and your team has a simple to understand and execute win condition.
Team Comp Example
- Vanguards
- Groot, Peni
- Duelist
- Punisher, Bucky
- Strategists
- Rocket Raccoon, Luna Snow
Hero Synergies
Vanguard: Peni Parker

Rocket Network is one of the few Team-Up abilities where both heroes benefit. Peni gets a 2nd Spider-Nest, and Rocket's B.R.B. becomes a Nest as well. Pairing these two together effectively allows your team to deploy three Spider-Nests at once. Their team's area control greatly rises as more of the ground is covered in Webs and a greater number of Mines will target any enemy who steps into the Webs.
Duelist: The Punisher

Even after losing their Team-UP, The Punisher is still one of the best Duelists to run with Rocket. Punisher tends to position near his allies where he can benefit from Rocket's AoE healing. Compared to other Duelists, the Punisher positions more aggressively and takes more damage, so he needs a Strategist like Rocket with high healing output. Additionally, when Punisher uses his zipline to reposition, Rocket's range and mobility enable him to continue assisting The Punisher. Combine their ults for unmatched lethality because a damage boosted Final Judgement can kill through defensive ults.
Strategist: Luna Snow

With Rocket's ultimate being a hybrid defense and offense, his team benefits from having Luna Snow's ult available to survive high-damage ults from the enemy team. They make a great pairing because Luna can also use her ult defensively or offensively, so they are very adaptable. Her freeze also gives their team more crowd control against flankers, which is one thing Rocket lacks.
