Marvel RivalsMarvel Rivals Deadpool Character Guide

In this Marvel Rivals Deadpool guide, you’ll learn all three of his roles' abilities, unique play styles, and fundamental tips.

Deadpool Overview

The Merc with a Mouth Arrives in Marvel Rivals! After more teasing and shenanigans than ever, Deadpool joins the roster for Season 6.

He doesn’t just bring twin pistols, bloody katanas, and an unhealthy obsession with chimichangas; Deadpool brings a level of unpredictability no other hero has matched.

The devs have translated the chaos he's so well known for into gameplay with the most chaotic and unique hero to date. True to his nature, Deadpool refuses to be limited to a single role, as he's the game’s only true multi-role hero. He's able to dynamically swap between Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist during a match.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to harness Deadpool’s unique mechanics, status effects, upgrades, and role-swapping potential, while still keeping true to his madness and antics.

Find out where we predict Deadpool ranks in our Marvel Rivals tier list as soon as Season 6 launches!

  • Early-Game Weakness
  • Jack of All Trades, Master of...

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

Unmatched Ability to Flex and Flex

Deadpool’s triple-role system allows a single hero to fill Vanguard, Duelist, or Strategist responsibilities depending on team needs. If you're playing Deadpool, anything you think your team is lacking, you have the agency to make up for it.

If your team composition lacks frontline presence, sustain, or burst damage, Deadpool can fill the gap by swapping to a different version of himself. A unique advantage no other hero offers.

Additionally, if someone wants to ban Deadpool, they can only ban a single role with each vote. You'd need 3 bans to keep Deadpool out of a game!

Hybrid Combat Style of Ranged and Melee

Between out-of-combat self-healing, a resurrection, immunity frames during selfies, shields, bonus HP, and healing ultimates, Deadpool is deceptively hard to kill when played correctly. This is especially true as a Vanguard role, a lot of his sustain comes from base abilities, so expect Deadpool to be a difficult target to KO.

Momentum-Driven Power Scaling

Through his Style meter and XP-based upgrade system, Deadpool becomes stronger the longer fights go on. Skilled players can snowball fights by chaining abilities, ultimates, and upgrades together. Even his ult becomes more effective when the targeted enemy is performing poorly.

Weaknesses

High Complexity and Execution Demand

Deadpool has multiple kits layered on top of one another. Misusing abilities, knowing which ability to upgrade in a quickly changing match, or choosing the wrong ultimate can heavily reduce his impact.

Mastering three unique role kits and knowing when to switch requires experience and strong game sense

Early-Game Weakness

Before progression upgrades are secured, Deadpool’s impact is lower; he needs time and successful engagements to ramp into peak effectiveness.

His ultimates rely on style generation, not ult charge like every other hero. Poor ability usage or whiffed fight engagements can delay your ultimate significantly, especially with its 45-second cooldown.

Jack of All Trades, Master of...

While flexible, Deadpool may be outperformed by specialists in pure DPS, tanking, or healing if the situation calls for maximum role discipline. To bring consistent value and strong performances, Deadpool requires a keen gamesense, the ability to read teamfights, and a willingness to adapt.

Base Kit and Core Mechanics

Since Deadpool has such a complex kit, and his abilities change based on which role you have chosen, we'll first cover his base kit and vital universal mechanics.

Ability Upgrade System

Deadpool abilities Vanguard

  • Deadpool earns XP during the match to upgrade individual abilities.
  • Upgraded abilities gain, buffed effects, faster style generation, and gold visual effects

Style Meter & Ultimates

  • Deadpool’s ultimates are fueled by a style meter and do not passively gain ult charge over time like the rest of the cast.
  • Style is gained by dealing damage and landing abilties.
    • Each ultimate has a cooldown of 45 seconds after its use, before Style can be generated again.

Healing Factor (Passive)

  • Deadpool regenerates health while out of combat, allowing him to disengage and re-enter fights without relying on Strategist healing or healpacks.
  • When about to die, Deadpool can resurrect himself, effectively giving him a second life similar to Wolverine

Vanguard Ability Tips

Tankpool

Playstyle: Disruptive frontline tank focused on space control and survivability.

Right Click: Magical Unicorn Shield

  • Deploys a shield bubble that blocks damage and abilities. Use it aggressively to claim space, not just defensively.

Right Click (Sword) Hazardous Hijinks

  • Three-charge slashing ability. Excellent for sticking to targets and farming style in close-quarters combat.

[E]: Deadpool in Your Area

  • Taunts enemies, burns HP, messes with enemy vision, and grants attack speed as his guns for full automatic turbo mode. Swap weapons after activation to maximize DPS.

Bunny Bounce

  • Bounce off enemies or terrain to deal damage, reset cooldowns, and rapidly reposition. This is a core mobility and style-farming tool.

Gun Ultimate

  • Taunts enemies and grants bonus HP. Enemies who miss abilities further empower Deadpool, making this devastating against players with inconsistent mechanics.

Sword Ultimate

  • Grants speed, healing, bonus HP, and combo challenges. Completing combos amplifies survivability and can reset Healing Factor for near-immortality.

Duelist Ability Tips

Dpspool

Playstyle: High-mobility skirmisher built around resets, burst damage, and execution.

  • Lower 250 HP in exchange for High Damage Output.
  • Fragile compared to Vanguardpool, but far deadlier.

Right Click (Gun)

  • Returns to Deadpool. Upgraded versions explode after multiple catches, dealing massive area damage.

Right Click (Sword)

  • Two charges by default, but refreshes up to two more times on hit. Upgraded versions allow near-endless chaining if abilities connect.

[E]: Taunt

  • Forces enemy focus without granting attack speed. Upgraded versions melt HP and provide damage reduction.

Bunny Bounce

  • Jump on allies to heal them and reset cooldowns. Also works on enemies and terrain.

Boomerang

  • Heals allies and damages enemies. Upgraded versions explode after multiple catches for massive teamfight value.

Final Exam (Sword Ultimate)

  • Massive team healing that scales with enemy hits. Can be extended and upgraded to grant bonus HP and reset Healing Factor.

Gun Ultimate

  • Heals and shields allies while punishing enemy misses with additional buffs.

Strategist Ability Tips

Playstyle: Hybrid support providing sustained healing, buffs, and disruptive utility.

350 HP with Healing Output

  • Tankier than Duelist Deadpool, and capable of keeping close to his frontline.

Guns Heal Allies

  • Shooting teammates directly heals them.

Swords Heal in AoE

  • Hitting enemies with melee attacks heals nearby allies.

Right Click (Sword)

  • Dash-based AoE healing. Upgraded versions allow bouncing movement similar to Tankpool.

E – Taunt + Heal Zone

  • Heals allies while disrupting enemies. Upgrades add damage boosts for teammates.

Synergies

Team Comp Synergies

Deadpool's adaptability means that he can truly fit into any team comp. Rather than trying to pair heroes directly with him, he can choose his role to best fit with the heroes his teammates are playing.

However, Deadpool has a very aggressive playstyle and wants to maintain the momentum to snowball the victory. Therefore, heroes who can match and keep up with his aggression are the best fits.

Team Comp Example

  • Vanguards: Emma Frost, Magneto
  • Duelists: Daredevil
  • Strategists: Invisible Woman, Gambit
  • Everything: Deadpool
