Esoteric Skill Enhancement - 3 Spender Wardancer Build Guide for PvE

Build

required skill points: 408

build revolves around generating identity meter (or gauge) in order to fill the identity orbs (or bubbles) to use the Esoteric Skills. Casting an Esoteric Skill will consume these orbs, hence why they’re usually called “spenders” by the community.

It is one of the “bursty” variations of the Esoteric builds. This requires a specific amount of Specialization (between 900-1100 specialization), while you dump the remaining stats to Swiftness. This build offers more personal damage in exchange of lower uptime of your class synergies.

Compared to other classes, the damage output is very high, but the build has heavy repercussions on your overall DPS if you mess up.

It is also important to note that all Wardancer builds feel very weak and incomplete without high tripod levels and their respective relic sets. This variation of Esoteric Build is also very horizontal-heavy as you do need a specific amount of Skill Points (396 SP) and some RNG-gated Runes (Legendary Wealth and Purple Wealth) from horizontal content.

Playstyle is pretty straightforward, and if you played the 2 spender variation before, then transitioning will not be very hard, as the playstyle is pretty similar, it is way slower but your personal damage is way higher.

How to play

Standard rotation starting with full orbs/bubbles

  1. - only tap
  • This is the standard 3 spender rotation. Your goal is to do 4-4-3 spender rotation. 4 orbs on , 4 orbs on , and 3 orbs on your .
  • will give us enough distance to connect all hits of , regardless of body type assuming the boss will not move in the duration of the skill.
  • Do not use off cooldown. You need it for your meter regen and having it desync on your 2nd rotation will make your rotation do 432 spender instead, which is a damage loss. Cast it just moments before you start your next rotation.
  • How long you hold your depends on how much Attack Speed you have. You can fully charge it in this rotation if you have 140% Attack Speed. With , you can hold to at least 0.7 sec to ensure the last hit will still be within the window.

Basic rotation starting with 0 orbs/bubbles

  1. - fully hold
  • You do this rotation if you want to do a quick damage starting from 0 orbs, usually from resetting from a failed pull.
  • You can also use this rotation if you want to squeeze some damage on very short windows.
  • You can use Stimulant if you are rich enough and go straight to the Standard Rotation.

Awakening combo

  • Since we’re not using Dominion, and we have a decent amount of Specialization, we can actually use our Awakening Skill as a damage filler skill.
  • If you have 4 orbs ready, skip and go straight
  • You can squeeze in 2 orb tap if your Attack Speed allows you to, otherwise just save the orbs for the next rotation.

You need to reach a specific Specialization breakpoint before we can invest our remaining stats into Swiftness. Our main priority is to reach at least 1000-1033 Specialization first, before dumping the remaining points into Swiftness (~1350 Swiftness).

You can do two approaches:

1. 1000 Specialization / 1100 Swiftness

  • Neck - Specialization + Swiftness
  • Earrings: Specialization and Swiftness
  • Rings: Specialization and Swiftness
  • Bracelet: Swiftness + Specialization/Crit
  • Pet: Swiftness
  • With Bracelet stats: 1000 Spec / 1200 Swift / 100 Crit OR 1100 Spec / 1200 Swift

This approach can easily reach the 1000-1033 Specialization breakpoint without the need of having a Bracelet, on top of having decent Swiftness which will be around 1100 Swiftness. This is usually the build for pre-Bracelet (below 1490) 3 Spender Hallucination.

2. 900 Specialization / 1200 Swiftness

  • Neck - Specialization + Swiftness
  • Earrings: both Swiftness
  • Rings: both Specialization
  • Bracelet: Specialization + Swiftness
  • Pet: Swiftness
  • With Bracelet stats: 1050 Spec / 1300 Swift

This is the main approach to reach the specific 1000-1033 Specialization breakpoint and this is the approach we suggest if you are building 3 Spender Hallucination from scratch and you are already past 1490.

DISCLAIMER: DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON YOUR ACCESSORY QUALITY.

Attack Gems

Moon Flash Kick

Energy Combustion

Prioritize damage gems in the following order:

  1. or

and will take roughly the same DPS on actual raid scenarios so either of them as your first/second Level 9 or 10 gem. and can stay at Level 7 or 8.

Cooldown Gems

Esoteric Skill: Blast Formation

Energy Combustion

Roar of Courage

Wind's Whisper

Sky Shattering Blow

Prioritize CDR gems in the following order:

  2. or - max of level 8

having 2 levels over your and CD gem level should take priority as it will give you the tremendous QoL of not having to wait on your 2nd rotation.

Tripod Priority: Ready Attack + Gauge Generators > Esoteric Skills Tripods > Rest

HIGHEST PRIORITY - must be Level 4 or 5 ASAP and mandatory or else the build won’t work

MEDIUM PRIORITY - must be at least level 4 as these will be your damage tripods or important buffs

LOW PRIORITY - can stay at level 3, not mandatory to max, but nice to have maxed out

Gear set

Below 1445, Preordained is the set that we should go, and we only need 2 pieces for the usable set bonus.

When you get 1445 Shrieking Hallucination provides us the wanted Crit Rate we need, hovering mainly in between the sweet spot of 55-65% Crit Rate, depending on your Bracelet.
