How to Play vs The Doom Bots in LoL

Doom Bots are back and stronger than ever. In this featured game mode for League of Legends, 5 players face off against 5 bots that are insanely strong and basically broken. Each champion you can face has some abilities that have been reworked, and when we say reworked, we mean completely revamped to deal so much damage that if you are hit by one of their abilities you’re going to need to recall sooner rather than later!

In this Mobalytics article, we will cover all the champions you may encounter while playing Doom Bots. We will also list what their abilities do and include any tips and tricks we have to face them as we go along. If you know how to play against each champion, it will increase your chances of beating the Doom Bots.

But before we get into that, we will go over some champions that will help you beat these Doom Bots. To make beating the Doom Bots easier, you should pick champions who have high mobility to dodge skill shots, can stick to their targets and chase them down, and if a champion has damage and a little bit of CC, then they could be a great pick. You should pick champions that are mostly AD/fighters like Darius, Sett and Yasuo, and if they can stick to their targets and keep attacking them, then they should do well.

If you want to know what other champions are good in Doom Bots, then we created a Best Champion Picks for Doom Bots Guide, which goes over more recommendations!

Amumu

Amumu is the first champion we will talk about. Amumu is a melee champion with lots of CC and damage. To play against him, you need to avoid fighting him around the missions/events as he can CC your whole team.

  • Amumu shares his W with nearby minions.
  • When he activates his Ultimate, the radius is much larger.
  • He taunts enemies with his E.

Blitzcrank

The next champion is Blitzcrank. Blitzcrank is another melee champion who has a lot of CC tools. However, unlike Amumu, he can slightly counter himself, which can make killing him easier. During the laning phase and when playing against him, you can let him Hook you and then use that as an opportunity to all-in him.

  • He fires his Q slower, but it does knock aside minions in front of it.
  • He will stun himself when he activates W.
  • When he knocks up targets with his E, he launches the enemy behind him.
  • His Passive/Ultimate will zap nearby enemies.

Brand

Brand is one of the most difficult champions to play against, as his Ultimate is very strong, and you must know how to counter him post-6. Post 6, if he uses his Ultimate on you or any of your allies, you need to split up so his Ultimate can't bounce off you. If you let it keep bouncing between targets, you’re going to die.

  • His Q will go through minions.
  • Brand’s W will have multiple echoes.
  • Brand’s Ultimate bounces up to 20 times!

Caitlyn

Caitlyn has increased range and is a bigger nuisance. She can be good against melee champions, so keep this in mind when playing against her! Your best bet is to cheese her early and set her behind. Hide in the bottom lane bush, get her to overextend and then all-in her. Rinse and repeat as she is quite immobile and squishy.

  • She has increased range.
  • Q will ricochet to nearby champions if it hits a target.
  • Her Traps hone in on her opponents.
  • Her Ultimate hits multiple enemy champions.

Cho’Gath

Cho’Gath is bigger, stronger and more annoying to handle. Make sure you get early boots to help you dodge his skill shots! It isn’t as simple as that, and you also need to play around his abilities. After he uses his Q or W, make sure you dodge it and then try to chase him down and all-in him. Even though he will get tanky, he is relatively weak early on.

  • Creates 3 Q knockup zones.
  • His W has a larger radius.
  • Depending on size, his E distance is greater.
  • Gets bigger as the game goes along as he gets Ultimate stacks for free.

Corki

Corki is one of the easier champions to play against. If the enemy team has him, you have a good chance of winning! In the early game, try to cheese the Corki by hiding in a bush. You also need to not let him poke you down (easier said than done right?) To do this, you need to just run at him and play around his W cooldown. When he uses his W to escape, use the cooldown and reiniate an all-in.

  • He fires 3 Q spells in a row.
  • He gets another rocket if he lands one.
  • His empowered Ultimate has a bigger range.

Corki Splash

Diana

I must admit that I don’t think that Diana is super strong in this game mode. She has good damage, but nothing that can be negated by dodging her abilities and all-in' her. To play against Diana, you need to commit to all-ins and avoid letting her poke you down with her Q. Try to bait out her W (go in and then disengage when she activates her W) and then reinitiate a fight while her abilities are down.

  • Her Q is modified.
  • W also casts Leona’s W when all the orbs are connected with targets.
  • Her Ultimate also casts Leona’s Ultimate simultaneously.

Jinx

Jinx may feel weak early, but if she has a few kills early and gets her reset in those mid and late-stage team fights, all I can say is good luck. Her reset is so OP in those team-fighting situations. In the early game, set her behind by cheesing kills. In team fights, try not to let her get kills or resets as she will deal tons of damage.

  • Q (both weapons) are improved.
  • W chains to nearby enemies.
  • Her E chases after nearby enemies.
  • When her Ultimate hits an enemy champion, the explosion is massive and her E spawns near the impact.

Jinx Splash

Lee Sin

As the community has pointed out, we believe Riot has hired some Korean Students to play Lee Sin 24/7, and he isn’t, in fact, a bot. If you’re playing against Lee Sin, good luck! He is really strong and hard to play against. Try to stay away from minions/ out of range of his Q to make it harder for him to all-in.

  • Q marks multiple targets at once.
  • Can easily jump on multiple targets with his Q.
  • The E range is massive!

Lee Sin Splash

Lux

Lux is a poster child of League of Legends, so it's no wonder Riot included her in this game mode. I remember how cool and colourful Lux was in the original gamemode, so it is nice to see her back in this one! She is really squishy, so you just need to commit to all-ins and chase her down. Getting CC boots will help vs her Q.

  • Throws out multiple Qs after it hits the first target.
  • Her E detonates multiple times.
  • Lux shoots her Ultimate in a circle.

Malzahar

I absolutely hate playing against Malzahar in this game mode. If you happen to lane against him, try to swap! He is really hard to play against unless you’re playing the right champion, and you’re forced to commit to all-ins or get kills elsewhere before going to his lane and killing him. Once you have a few kills, you can just run him down, though.

  • Casts his Q multiple times.
  • Void Swarms are much stronger.
  • Charms enemies who are impacted by his E.
  • Summoners a Void Swarm and creates a ZZ’Rot Portal while channelling his Ultimate.

Malzahar Splash

Maokai

Maokai is one of the weaker champions in Doom Bots early, so you should look to abuse him while you can. In the late game, he has a lot of sustain and CC! At level 3, 4 and 5, just let him overextend and then chase him down the lane. You can easily cheese him at the start to get a kill.

  • Passively, he puts saplings in bushes.
  • His Q has a longer range.
  • His E Saplings are empowered.
  • When using his Ultimate, he pulls enemies towards him.

Maokai Splash

Nami

I am a massive fan of Nami, so it is nice to see Riot include her in this game mode. I can’t remember if she is in the original Doom Bots, but I am pretty sure she was. Nami is relatively easy to play against in my opinion, as long as you can dodge her CC. I think her Ultimate is a bit hard to play against, especially when you’re fighting for missions/events, but outside of thatt it isn’t too bad.

  • Her Q splits into 3 bubbles.
  • All nearby enemies are empowered with her E.
  • She casts her Ultimate spell twice, with the second one being significantly larger.

Nami Splash Crop

Nautilus

We advised picking champions with CC, but Nautilus is definitely not someone you should play! Think Nautilus is broken in Ranked? You should see him in Doom Bots! To play against him, you need to get Mercury Treads and anything that can help against CC.

  • His Q has a much larger collision radius.
  • His E range is bigger.
  • His Ultimate knockup is much bigger and it tosses enemies into him.

Nautilus Splash Crop

Soraka

Soraka is known as a simple Support on Summoners' Rift, but in Doom Bot, she is far from it! Her damage doesn’t really hurt, so I wouldn’t be afraid of fighting her. You could opt for some items that reduce her sustain, but I don’t think it’s really worth it and it’s better to go for your core items.

  • Q and W reduce the magic resistance of targets hit.
  • Her E has multiple silence zones.

Soraka Splash

Tristana

If you see the enemy team have a Tristana, you’re in luck, as she is quite easy to play against! When playing against Tristana, you need her to W away. When she uses it, you then need to disengage as there’s no point chasing her. However, when she walks back into lane, you ned to all-in her and kill her while it is on cooldown.

  • Her basic attacks hit multiple targets at once.
  • Explosive charges also apply to minions.
  • She knocks enemies away when she lands her W.
  • And finally, Tristana’s Ultimate knocks enemies further away.

Tristana Splash

Urgot

I am not really sure why Riot put Urgot in this game mode. He is pretty weak in my opinion, but he is a split pushing monster! In the early game, you can force him to over extend by pushing you into your tower, you can then CC and all-in him as he is quite immobile and easy to chase down and kill.

  • Fire’s multiple Qs in a circle.
  • Purge hits all nearby targets and has a bigger radius.

Urgot Splash

Wukong

The most iconic champion in Doom Bots is Wukong. Who remembers the OG Doom Bots and how OP old Wukong was? Playing against Wukong isn’t the easiest- you kinda have to guess what he is going to do. I would avoid using executing or high damaging spells on him incase its his clone, so don’t pull the trigger straight away when trying to finish him off.

  • His Q hits multiple enemies.
  • More clones are spawned depending on the W rank.
  • Cyclone spawns more Monkeys.

Wukong Splash

Xerath

The final champion, who is one of the hardest ones to play against, is Xerath! Xerath is a monster when he is ahead, so don’t feed him! Unfortunately, you can’t really do too much against his Ultimate except for buying magic-resistant items, and recalling when you’re low. You never want to be low near Xerath, as his Ultimate is impossible to dodge!

  • Q is recast from a different angle if it hits an enemy.
  • W has follow-up Ws.
  • Ultimate barrages the closest visible champion (basically impossible to dodge).
