How to Play
AP
Sion has incredible burst once he gets a few items. Farm patiently during the early levels while looking for short trades using Q into W. Try to keep your shield active before engaging so it can explode for maximum damage.
Farming is even more important because you want AP items for more damage, but you also get permanent HP from your E. Laning phase can be a bit rough early, but as you have a point-and-click stun, if your opponent overextends, then communicate with your jungler so you can get some easy kills.
Runes Explained
Sion gains a huge amount of health through his abilities, so we can focus more on offensive stats through our runes. Ability Power Seals and Ability Power Quintessences help increase the damage of his abilities, making his trades much stronger.
Since
Sion deals mixed damage through his basic attacks and abilities, Penetration Marks are a great choice to help him deal more damage when fighting up close. Finally, because
Sion is constantly getting into melee range, Armor Seals provide extra protection and help him survive during trades and team fights.
Masteries Explained
While playing Sion, the key is to get in, burst down your enemy, and get out safely, which is where the Offense tree comes into play. Making it your main tree gives you extra Ability Power, Magic Penetration, and increased damage against enemies below 50% health, which works perfectly with
Sion's ability to finish off low-health targets.
Sion also needs to reach his targets, so the Utility tree is a great secondary choice. The extra Movement Speed and other utility bonuses help him engage more effectively and make plays.
