How to Play

AP Shaco is all about controlling the jungle and setting up deadly traps with his boxes. Use your W to prepare key areas before fights and objectives, forcing enemies to walk into boxes or take inefficient paths. Rather than constantly looking for direct fights, play around your box placement and use Q to position yourself safely for unexpected picks and trades.

Focus on controlling choke points, jungle entrances, and objectives where enemies are likely to walk. Your boxes become even more valuable as the game goes on, allowing you to create zones that are difficult for enemies to enter safely. At level 6, your clone gives you another way to trigger boxes, bait enemies, and create chaos during fights, making AP Shaco extremely frustrating to play against.

Runes Explained

For AP Shaco runes, the most important choices are your Marks, Seals, and Quintessences. Magic Penetration Marks increase the damage of his abilities, allowing his Boxes and other magic damage to hit harder, especially against enemies without much magic resistance. Ability Power Seals further improve his early ability damage, helping with jungle clears, ganks, and setting up stronger trades.

Movement Speed Quintessences are particularly valuable on AP Shaco, allowing him to move around the jungle faster, reach lanes more quickly, and set up his Boxes across the map. The extra mobility also makes it easier to control key areas and create pressure before the enemy knows where you are.

Masteries Explained

When playing AP Shaco, we want to focus on maximizing his magic damage, making the Offense tree the best choice. The extra Ability Power, Magic Penetration, and increased damage work extremely well with his Boxes and other abilities, helping him clear the jungle, deal more damage in ganks, and punish enemies who step into his traps.

Shaco relies heavily on moving around the map and setting up his Boxes in key areas, so put your remaining points into the Utility tree. The extra Movement Speed and increased buff duration help him rotate between camps and lanes faster, maintain pressure across the map, and give him more opportunities to set up his traps before the enemy can react.
