Overview
Changes for Classic
Grandmaster's Might (R) grants stacking attack speed per strike
Equipment Mastery (P) grants health for power
How to Play
Jax begins the game by focusing on farming and building up enough gold for his core items. Use
Counter Strike while clearing camps to avoid their basic attacks before stunning the surrounding monsters, helping you preserve health during your early clears. Empower also resets your basic attack, so use it immediately after an auto attack to clear camps more efficiently.
When ganking, approach the enemy before using
Leap Strike whenever possible. Saving your leap makes it easier to follow their escape or close the gap after they use
Flash. Counter Strike gives
Jax reliable crowd control, while
Leap Strike can also be used on wards or allies when you need to escape.
After reaching level 6,
Jax becomes much stronger in longer fights due to the additional damage and defensive stats provided by his ultimate. Continue farming whenever there are no clear ganking opportunities, as
Jax scales extremely well with levels and items.
Runes Explained
For
Jax's rune page, we use Attack Speed Marks to improve his early jungle clear and help him activate the repeated hit effects in his kit more frequently. Armor Seals reduce the physical damage dealt by jungle monsters, allowing him to finish his first few camps with more health.
Scaling Magic Resist Glyphs give
Jax increasing protection against magic damage throughout the game. Movement Speed Quintessences make it easier to travel between camps, approach enemies during ganks and stay close to targets once a fight begins.
Masteries Explained
Jax uses 21 points in the Offense tree to strengthen his basic attacks and improve his overall damage. The additional Attack Speed works perfectly with his passive and ultimate, while the extra penetration and damage help him clear camps quickly and remain threatening during ganks.
The remaining 9 points go into the Defense tree, making his early jungle clear safer and more consistent. Reduced damage from jungle monsters helps
Jax conserve health alongside
Counter Strike, giving him more freedom to gank or contest objectives before recalling.
