More than often you can turn a gank right on its head with proper W placement along with the usage of your Q or E. Use E if the enemy ganker has some form of Movement Speed ability with which they can gap close quickly.
Poking is your main power in the lane and it is really obnoxious during the early game. With your poke, you can quite easily zone the enemy laners off without even getting close to them.
Your brush power is unparalleled and one rotation of your spells on an unsuspecting enemy will force them to play defensively. Don’t try to play too passively and always be on the lookout to land a multi-man E.
Your immobility is your greatest weakness on Zyra. Therefore, you should always be conscious of your positioning in lane and in team fights.
During a fight, always stay at a distance and avoid crowd control abilities. Once locked down, you won’t be able to do anything to save yourself and will most probably get killed if the enemy follows up on you.
Missing your E places you in a very vulnerable position, so only try to land it when you can guarantee a hit.
0 - 15 min
Get level 2 first and look for a favourable trade. Gaining an early health lead is key to getting a kill later on down the line. Level 2 in the bottom lane is the first minion wave followed by the next 3 melee minions.
Your goal during the laning phase is so to look for kills and abuse the enemy as often as you can. Try to play aggressive frequently to gain a lead.
After destroying the bottom lane tower, rotate to the mid lane and try to take that tower. This will open up the map and give your team a gold lead.
15 - 25 min
As a Support, you’re quite vulnerable and can easily be killed when going to ward, when you’re moving around the map, and when you’re alone. To reduce the chances of dying and getting caught out of position, try and stick with your team at all times.
Keep a constant eye on what major objective is spawning next. If it’s spawning soon, make sure you place vision around the objective as quickly and as safely as possible before retreating to safety. Having vision around major objectives is key.
Look for picks in the mid-game. You deal lots of damage and can easily blow champions up. Try to kill someone and then abuse their death timer to earn more gold.
25+ min
Ward major objectives and place vision in high traffic areas in the late stages of the game. Keep them warded so you can see the enemy move around the map and see them starting the objective.
Stay with your team at all times. Avoid moving around the map alone so you do not get caught out. Getting caught out will result in your team having to play 4v5. Do not ward alone unless you know where the enemy is.
Peel for your allies as much as possible. Keeping them alive for as long as possible in team fights is a must in order to win the game.
Zyra’s early game poke is very good. Once you have a few levels behind you, you’ll be able to constantly harass the enemy with your Q and E. Gaining an early health lead could set up your Jungler or could allow you to get an early kill.
Once Zyra has upgraded her Boots, her mobility and damage output will increase. Zyra should get Boots and upgrade them as quickly as possible to increase her damage output.
At level 6, Zyra’s damage output and kill pressure further intensify. Play around your Ultimate R to look for aggressive plays with your ADC. Your Ultimate R will deal a considerable amount of damage, so you should be able to get kills with it easily.
In the mid-game, teams will start grouping. Thanks to Zyra’s AOE abilities, she will be rather good during this stage in the game as she will be able to deal damage to multiple enemy champions at once.
Zyra would’ve also completed multiple items when the mid-game roles around. Because of this, your abilities will deal a lot more damage which will allow you to pick of squishy targets.
At level 9, Zyra would’ve maxed either her Q or her E. Regardless of which one you maxed first, you should be able to deal a lot of damage to the enemy laner during the mid-game or the later parts of the laning phase.
In the late game, your build should be coming to completion. While you will deal a considerable amount of damage, it will be harder for you to one-shot targets as the enemy team would’ve started to pick up defensive items.
At level 16, Zyra will put the final point in her Ultimate R. The utility and damage this ability provides at this rank is very good, and she will be a menace in team fights.
Thanks to her low cooldowns and plants, Zyra will help her team quickly secure neutral objectives such as the Baron or Elder Dragon. Don’t be afraid to make the call for these objectives if your team’s in a position to do so.
