Malzahar Strengths & Weaknesses

Malzahar has great pick potential with his Ultimate Nether GraspR. Picking off one champion could win you the game!

Malzahar has a shield that will protect him against incoming damage. This increases your survivability in lane.

You have great wave clear thanks to your Call of the VoidQ, Void SwarmW and Malefic VisionsE. Once you have an item behind you, you can constantly push the enemy into their tower.

Malzahar cannot roam as much as other laners. He also is unable to follow the majority of roams due to his low 1v1 potential.

While his Ultimate Nether GraspR is on cooldown, he is incredibly vulnerable to all-in.

While you’re channelling your Ultimate Nether GraspR, you will be stood still. This can allow an untargeted champion to fight or kill you. This is a common downfall of your Ultimate Nether GraspR in mid and late game team fights- especially against hard engage teams.

When no team fights are occurring, go to a side lane and push. It’s important that you continue to farm during the mid-game so you can get your items as quickly as possible. Do not just stay mid if you can’t get anything done.

After your bot lane has moved to the mid lane, rotate to the bot side of the map or somewhere else on the map so you can continue to farm and gain XP.

Play around your Ultimate Nether GraspR in the mid-game. It is an incredibly strong tool that can help you get a kill advantage. With the numbers advantage, you can then make the call for Baron or siege a nearby tower.

Late game
25+ min
Malzahar is Average

Do not fight in the late game unless your Ultimate Nether GraspR is up. It is crucial that you only commit or look for fights when it is available as you’re going to miss on the CC it provides.

Your Ultimate Nether GraspR will be on a shorter cooldown in the later stages of the game. If you can find an opportunity to do so, use it to catch out someone who is isolated and alone, too far forward or way out of position.

Peel for your carries to keep them alive for longer. If your allies die quickly, there will be little chance that you will win the team fight.

Power Spikes
Early game0 - 15 min

He is frail early on as his presence is negligible, and his abilities are telegraphed. All he needs to do is conserve his health and utilize his Passive till he gets to level six.

Once he hits level six, his presence will skyrocket, becoming a significant threat for the enemy laner. Working with the allied Jungler will help him massively.

The first item component will allow him to spam his abilities quite frequently. It will also let him deal more damage, especially once he gets his Ultimate Nether GraspR.

Mid game15 - 25 min

He will have his core items by now, which means he will have a lot of mana and spam his Call of the VoidQ and Void SwarmW.

Multiple points in his Ultimate Nether GraspR will allow him to use the ability frequently and make crucial picks. His silence will be invaluable as well.

Malzahar is quite good during team fights as he can silence enemies and can lockdown high-priority targets effortlessly.

Late game25+ min

A fully maxed out Ultimate Nether GraspR will allow Malzahar to dish out hefty amounts of damage. Enchanters and squishy targets will have a hard time.

He is solid during late-game fights as his Call of the VoidQ and Ultimate Nether GraspR will hit like a truck now. He will need to check the enemy inventory for a QSS before he decides to all-in a champion, though.
