Your Ultimate R is an amazing tool that can deal damage and CC the whole enemy team if you’re able to hit them all with it. This makes Amumu an incredibly strong team fighter.
Amumu’s build path is incredibly versatile. Does your team need a tank? You can build tank. Does your team need AP? You can build AP. If you’re ahead, you could go for a full AP build and blow up the enemies.
Thanks to having 2 Qs, you can look for aggressive plays in the lane and start a snowball. Wait for the enemy to disposition and then go in!
He’s really weak early on without his Q and is prone to poke in the laning phase.
Team fighting can be difficult for Amumu as you’re prone to disengage, poke and CC. Be prepared to flank in team fights to make it easier for you to catch the enemy out of position.
Relies on the ADC to follow up and play aggressively with you. If they don’t play aggressive, you’ll struggle to get kills and win lane.
0 - 15 min
Look for opportunities to land your Q on the enemy bot laner who is not playing parallel to their partner. This will allow your ADC and you to chunk the target out quickly.
Using the lane brushes is vital to your success in this matchup. Make sure that you do so and Control Ward at least one lane brush which the enemy can't access under any circumstance.
Try to roam every time you recall. Your Q is deceptively long-ranged and can easily catch a mid-laner off-guard.
15 - 25 min
During the mid-game, you will want to work with your Jungler towards securing picks. Your Q will definitely let you pick off many enemies during this phase of the game.
Look for flanks on the enemy team when possible. Ultimate R'ing the enemy backline can easily win your team the game.
Chokepoint fights are going to be preferable for you as your W and Ultimate R can definitely disrupt the enemy team. Play around vision to catch the enemy off-guard.
25+ min
Ensure that you are present in any given team fight especially during this phase of the game. Do not squander about to another lane to accumulate CS to get an item.
Make it a point to check your team's positioning before starting a fight. There is no point in initiating a fight when your team can't follow up on you.
Flanking the enemy team and using the fog of war to bamboozle enemies is the way to go during this phase of the game. Ensure that you are warding it properly at all times.
As Amumu has 2 Q’s, he can easily catch out one of the enemy laners as they walk outside of
Amumu’s first power spike is when he unlocks his Ultimate R. Hitting level 6 is crucial, and you need to hit it as early as possible to help your allies.
Once Amumu has completed his first item, he will be much more robust and more of a menace on Summoners Rift. Make sure you find a healthy balance between ganking and farming to not delay your first item.
Amumu will have multiple items during the mid-game. Depending on his build, he will either deal a lot of damage in team fights, or be incredibly tanky and hard to kill.
At level 11, Amumu will have 2 points in his Ultimate R. This means his Ultimate R will be on a shorter cooldown which can help him in team fights and help his team get picks.
Teams start to group during the mid-game, and as Amumu is a team fighting champion, he is pretty good during this stage of the game.
Amumu’s late game is not bad. He will be very tanky as he would be coming towards the end of his build. If he hasn’t gone full tank, his damage output will be quite good in late game team fights.
At level 16, Amumu will put the third and final point in his Ultimate R. His Ultimate R should be on a short cooldown and he should have it up somewhat frequently. Avoid fighting unless it’s up in the late game.
Teams will still be grouped closely together in the late game. This is good for Amumu as he will be able to CC his whole team with his Ultimate R.
