Able to mitigate any form of auto-attack damage with his W. This can make the enemy physical damage carries to be practically useless when this ability is active.
He can set really good cheese brushes as well as all-in opportunities with his E. When combined with certain items, Shen can put additional debuffs on the taunted champions with ease.
His Ultimate R can allow him to act as a guardian for his teammates. This becomes really beneficial if one of Shen’s teammates is fed and needs to be peeled for.
His E is quite short-ranged which makes it hard for him to land this ability from clear vision. This can hamper his all-in potential.
If he uses his W and Q carelessly, then he and his team will be in a really disadvantageous position, and will get pelted down quite easily.
His Ultimate R has a very long cooldown and will force him to lose priority almost instantly.

Your goal in the early game is to play safe, pick up gold and XP and avoid dying to the enemy laner. You are rather weak in the early game and need time to come online.
Once you have quite a few levels under your belt, you should look for short favourable trades. As you’re not strong in the early game, you may wish to wait for the enemy to waste an ability before playing aggressive.
Keep the minion wave closer to your side of the map in the early game. This will ensure safety and reduce your chances of dying in lane.
15 - 25 min
Split push when your Ultimate R is up. Keep a constant eye on your allies and be prepared to cast your Ultimate R on them when necessary.
Look for picks during the mid-game with your E. Catching someone out of position could result in your team picking up a lot of free gold.
Peel for your carries in mid-game team fights. If they die, you’re not going to win the fight. Peel and keep them alive for as long as possible.
25+ min
Peel for your carries in late game team fights to increase the chances of your team winning the fight. If they die at the beginning, you will not be able to win the fight alone.
Stick with your team in the late game. Do not split up or walk away from them otherwise the enemy may try to pick you off or initiate a 4v5 fight when you’re away from your team.
Focus the nearest enemy champion to your carries and work as a team to take down the enemy one by one. If you focus the backline alone, you may be an easy target for the enemy and may die quickly. By focusing on the nearest champion, you will survive for longer and keep your carries alive.
Shen is weak before he hits level six as he is melee-ranged, and his all-in is heavily dependent on his E landing on his enemies. Missing it will make him take a lot of damage from his laner.
Once he gets his Ultimate R, he will have a lot of map presence. He can quickly turn the tide of a fight with a well-timed Ultimate R to save his carry.
The first item component should allow Shen to increase his survivability and damage in the lane. The lane brushes should be used frequently to catch the enemy off-guard and secure kills.
Another point in his Ultimate R will allow him to peel for his carries way more frequently. It should let him afflict team fights way easily, primarily if he is split pushing in another lane.
His tankiness is really high during the mid-game, and he should be able to be the frontline for his team quite effectively. His Q and W should allow him to soak up a lot of damage as well.
The first ability will be maxed out at level 9. This will let him dish out a lot of damage to the enemy once he manages to all-in them with his E.
His tankiness knows no bounds during this phase of the game. Killing him will prove an ordeal for the enemy team, and he can frontline for days for his carries.
A maxed-out Ulitmate R should let him use his Ultimate R quite frequently and increase the shield amount. He can split push regularly and still show up to team fights on time.
He is pretty good in late-game fights and can alter the tide of fights easily. His E will be pretty massive during objective and clumped fights, especially if he can get multiple enemies CC'd with it.
