Elder Scrolls 6 Sentinel Reveal and What We Know

Updated on Nov 3, 2026
Nov 3, 2026

Overview

Elder Scrolls 6 Sentinel has officially been revealed as The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel, giving Bethesda’s next mainline Elder Scrolls game its full name. Todd Howard introduced the title and logo during Bethesda’s 40th anniversary celebrations on November 3, 2026.

The announcement brings a new teaser and a Hammerfell setting, providing a clearer picture of Skyrim’s successor following its original announcement in 2018. Bethesda is still keeping most details under wraps, but the reveal establishes the name and location of the next adventure.

Hammerfell and the Sentinel Name

Hammerfell is the setting identified by the reveal. Bethesda’s follow-up statement describes the announcement as sharing both the game’s name and location.

Sentinel is an existing city in Hammerfell, giving the subtitle a connection to established Elder Scrolls geography. The announcement does not establish the boundaries of the playable world or how much of the province players will explore.

The teaser also introduces a quotation attributed to Yazar, Moth Priest to High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell:

“A future lost. A victory undone. Sands of time scattered by fate.”

The passage offers a glimpse of the story’s mystery without explaining the main conflict or the player’s role. Its attribution is dated 4E 206, although that date alone does not establish the timeline of the entire game.

Confirmed Development Details

Bethesda has shared some development information beyond the new title. In its July 17, 2026 studio update, the developer identified The Elder Scrolls VI as its primary development focus, with the majority of its team working on the game.

The update also confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI is being built using Creation Engine 3, a shared technology platform that Bethesda is developing for both this game and Fallout 5.

Bethesda said its team was playing The Elder Scrolls VI daily. That confirms an internally playable version exists, although it does not indicate how close the game is to completion.

The November announcement adds an official identity to those earlier updates. Detailed demonstrations of its combat, exploration and character systems are still to come.

What Has Not Been Announced Yet

The Sentinel reveal leaves several major questions unanswered:

  • Release date: No launch date or release window has been announced.
  • Platforms: Bethesda has not announced the final launch platform lineup.
  • Gameplay: A public gameplay demonstration has not been released.

Bethesda says development continues and that it will be some time before the studio is ready to share more. There is no announced date for the next major reveal.

For now, the official name, Hammerfell setting and brief story teaser are the foundations of Sentinel’s public reveal.
