Overview

In the new Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown DLC, players will be able to turn previously liberated areas into thriving businesses and massive seaports to create their own trading empire.

This new DLC adds plenty of new gameplay, but should you buy it? If you’re on the fence about spending your hard-earned money on this DLC, we’ve got you covered with 10 things you need to know before you buy it!

This preview was created with the help of Fervor. Check out their channel and the video on the side for a more comprehensive breakdown.

Crimson Camp

Main Story

A new main story features 3 main characters. Each character's storyline is unique, and it the storyline has been created by the same writer who worked on the enhanced addition, so the storyline will be much better than the original. You will need to complete the main story to get access to any of the new storylines.

Main Story

Building Your Ship

This DLC is all about conquering the unknown and exploring. This is why ships play such a huge part of this DLC. You can have your own ship, customise it to your heart's content, and upgrade it. The ship will have its own progression system, so you can upgrade it to face even stronger ships.

If you’re not a fan of ship combat, then this DLC probably isn’t for you, as riding along in a ship is a core gameplay aspect

Ships

Naval Combat

The naval combat in the DLC is quite fun if you enjoy sailing a ship. You can fire cannons, ram enemies, engage in combat, and board ships. With the introduction of a re-imagined weather system, weather will now have a major impact on how you fight at sea and understanding how to sail in all weather is crucial.

Again, if you’re not a fan of ships or naval combat, then this DLC will not be for you.

Naval Combat

Underwater Exploration

Underwater exploration lets players explore the deep seas, find hidden treasures, explore buried ships, and see new aquatic life like seals, whales, and other marine animals!

A new craftable suit will let you explore underwater as well!

Underwater Exploration

New Islands, Factions and Treasures

New islands to explore and new factions to beat are coming, too. With both, players will find many additional treasures to loot and discover as they explore new islands outside the main storyline.

Multiple new islands will be added, each prioritising either bosses/new factions to beat, looting, etc.

Islands

Strongholds and Trade Networks

You’ll be able to turn your basic camps into Strongholds and set up trade networks across Crimson Desert by investing resources and building ports for your ships. Fundamentally, you can build your own ecosystems in each one, letting you generate income, move resources from one place to another, and add a different gameplay element.

Trade networks

Businesses

Liberated territories can now be turned into businesses. You can repurpose places like restaurants and tailoring shops, and customise them to your heart's content. Each will have its own progress system, which will unlock new outfits, blueprints and more bonuses for you to play around with.

You’ll also be able to customise and change your buildings.

Buisnesses

Houses and Buildings

With the new update, players will be able to customise their own buildings and design them as they wish. You can customise the look of the buildings and courtyard, and change the interior furnishings as well.

NPCs will be able to visit your new bases/buildings, and they could potentially offer you more missions and extra gameplay as well!

Customising the House

New Bosses

There will be a new Boss Rush system which will give players the ability to challenge multiple bosses consecutively for rewards. In addition to this, there will be new bosses added, such as the golden skeleton we saw previously.

Boss Fights

New Abilities and Artifact Gear

Finally, there will be new abilities added to the game and new artefact gear for players to unlock. These are tied to artefact gear rather than the skill tree, which allows players who don’t want to buy the DLC to still get full value from their ability choices and not feel like they’re behind a paywall.
