5 Must Know Tips For New Players In Witchfire

Overview

Witchfire can be quite a daunting game to jump into for new players! In this guide, we'll go over 5 tips all players should know before hopping in for the first time! Hope this helps, and be sure to pay close attention to ensure you don't get caught by that pesky witch...

Pick Your Class Wisely

While your choice of class in Witchfire isn't a life or death decision by any means, it certainly will play a large role in how fast you become familiar with the world. Some classes will start with multiple weapons and large boosts to specific stats, where as others will only let you run a base weapon, and a lower spread of stats.

For this reason, it's very important to note that the game doesn't let you freely swap your class after it has been selected. This is because the classes in Witchfire aren't necessarily classes by the standard identity most games would give them. Rather, the classes in Witchfire are more akin to starting loadouts in Dark Souls.

For example, no weapon or spell on a class in the game is actually unique. All items can (and will) be stumbled across at some point in your game provided you play enough of it. With this knowledge in mind, treat your choice as more of a chosen direction you'd like a boost in.

Like spells? Maybe go with the Saint. Looking for a bog-standard class to start off with? Pick up the Butcher and jump right in. Just remember, your choice is final.

Don't Waste Demonic Ammo

Demonic Weapons in this game serve as hard hitting powerhouses capable of wiping out hordes of monsters extremely fast. For players familiar, you could easily attribute them to heavy weapons from Destiny 2.

As such, they also share one important distinction from regular guns: Ammo is more scarce.

While these are by far my favorite weapons to run overall due to their unbelievable level of power, it can be hard to restrain yourself during combat from blowing all of your juice in one go. Try to save Demonic Weapons for situations like Elite Fights, or even main Boss Fights.

If you do however find yourself running out of ammo, be aware that you can refill your ammo at any given Ammo Chest on the map. The only caveat to keep in mind with this is that Demonic Ammo is far more rare than your regular guns. So next time you go blasting enemies to the underworld, just keep in mind that not all bullets are as cheap as they appear ;)

Cheat Fall Damage By Jumping

This next one is a minor tip. While fall damage isn't the largest threat you'll come across in Witchfire (a point which cannot be overstated enough). It is worth mentioning that most players jumping in for the first time will be increasingly cautious of their navigation in the world.

When scaling rocky cliffs as a way to get to your chosen destination faster, keep in mind that you also have the ability to Double Jump. Not only is this an effective tool for combat, but it's also a cheesy way to avoid fall damage from large heights.

When you leap off of a high place, simply keep your second jump un-used, and pop it off right before you land to completely negate all damage you would've otherwise taken. It's a fantastic trick you can use almost anywhere in the game, and one that will save you a bucketload of time!

Research Everything

As mentioned earlier in our tip about classes, you can obtain pretty much every item imaginable in Witchfire. It's a good thing too, since there are a massive amount of guns, spells, and more that can be obtained once you've successfully repaired the Mirror in The Hermitorium.

Once you've reached this point, it's crucial that at almost all times in your game, you're researching something. As mentioned, there is a lot of items to research in the game, and it won't take long until you have an overwhelming backlog of items to discover and unlock.

It's also important to keep in mind that if you're struggling to research items fast enough, they can have their progress boosted. This does come at the cost of Gold, but if you're running maps constantly you should have no problem in getting your hands on such currency.

Avoid Chokepoints When Necessary

Our final tip here is more of a technical one, but it can be extremely useful when you're first starting out and don't have any permanent upgrades to your name.

Chokepoints can be a quick way to end your run early on. They're filled with enemies and traps, both of which can contribute to depleting your ammo and health vials. Typically these will be located in valleys, or right in the center of underpasses around the map.

Where possible, it's highly recommended that you learn to parkour over them, or take alternate routes until you're ready to attack them properly. In my case, I found the best way to deal with these situations was to bring with me a sniper rifle. This way, I could easily pick off threats from above, clearing entire areas before I even step foot into them.

While it certainly is not required by any means (especially for advanced players), it's still a smart option when getting stuck in for the first time.

Conclusion

That's it! Now you should be better equipped to jump into Witchfire for the first time! If this guide helped you out, be sure to check out the rest of our guides for more helpful information and tips!
