Skills

This build mainly uses just the Polearm and Shield, due to how effective they are with bashing and stunning enemies in combat. A lot of your combat will mainly consist of pressuring enemies, baiting them into missing their attack, and then stunning them constantly.

Greatsword Skills

  • Thorn Guide

The main use of this skill is purely to pull in enemies that are far away, but the use case for it is pretty low considering that the main goal of this build is to make use of your Polearm and Shield Specialization

Polearm and Shield

  • Intervene
  • Javelin Thrust
  • Breaker Shield Bash

Starting off with Javelin Thrust, this is what you'll be mainly using to close the gap between you and enemies that are far away. It also is an easy way to apply Wither to the enemy. As for Breaker Shield Bash, it's fantastic for slowing enemies down, and decreasing their dodge distance without leaving you too vulnerable. And lastly, use Intervene for the dash mainly, but also additional help from the bonuses it provides to your survivability due to the Super Armor granted.

Talents

  • Polearm and Shield Specialization - You are purely taking this for the extra skill equip.
  • Rising Morale - Fantastic pick for helping you further buff our dash, which we'll be using often.
  • Momentum Shift - This lets you charge dash with the shield raised which just so happens to be a huge part of this build.
  • Shield Wall Slam - Dashing with the shield raised will give you Super Armor, further buffing your survivability.
  • Javelin: Heavy Kick - Allows you to knock players back, great for keeping fights under control.
  • Javelin: Stun - When paired with the Heavy Kick, enemies knocked into walls are further stunned. Great synergy for this setup.
  • Off-Balance - Attacks from the shield bash will now slow.
  • Focus - Great in combination with the above talent, as it results in a debuffed dash for the enemy, making it harder for them to get away from you.

Tips & Tricks

  • Try to bait your opponent into an attack, and then dodge at the right time. Once done, you can position yourself to Javelin: Heavy Kick them into a wall, which will stun them immediately.
  • Charging enemies with your raised shield constantly is a safe bet to be able to play this build aggressively. Most enemies will find it difficult to fight, as it's a super offensive method of attack.
  • Using Off-Balance can make slowing enemies with your bash a great tactic to provide additional help with controlling fights. Try to commit to sequences where it's visible the enemy is struggling with their movement.
