How To Unlock The Sanctuary In Witchfire

The Sanctuary is an unlockable area within the Shrouded Hermitorium in Witchfire. It's a mandatory location to visit in order to unlock the ability to upgrade your items, and access the mirror. In this guide, we'll go over how to unlock it, and how to repair the broken mirror inside.

Provided you've done your first run in Witchfire, the Sanctuary should already be ready to open. At the start of the level in Island Of The Damned, you can find the key to the Sanctuary door in the hands of the deceased.

Once the key has been retrieved, you now need to successfully finish your current run via extraction and return to the Shrouded Hermitorium. Upon your return, head to the location marked on the map below, and you'll be able to unlock the door, which will trigger a short cutscene.

Once the door has been opened, it's worth checking out what's on offer in Sanctuary. On the left of the room in particular, you'll find a chest of free goodies that will be handy later on in your playthrough. You'll also find a table where you can switch your loadout, and upgrade it in meaningful ways.

One more interesting feature of the Sanctuary however is the broken mirror, sitting lonesome in the center of the room. Upon interacting with it, you'll start a quest in which three pieces will need to be retrieved from two maps in the game.

Mirror Piece 1: Outskirts

The first piece should naturally be obtained by the player during the prologue, in which they'll find the broken mirror piece in a puddle of acid near spawn.

Mirror Piece 2: Outskirts

The second piece can be found next to the area boss within the outskirts. It can be particularly tricky to grab early on, as the boss deals a large amount of damage with its attacks.

Mirror Piece 3: Island Of The Damned

Lastly, the third piece of the mirror can be found in the Island Of The Damned, just next to the Shipwreck POI. After collecting it, you'll need to successfully return back to the Hermitorium to avoid losing the progress.

With the Workshop Mirror freshly restored, you will complete the assigned quest. You now have the ability to commune with the mirror, where the ability to research brand new weapons is granted. Researching is generally free, but can be sped up with coins.

Aside from using coin to speed projects up, you'll also be able to progress them naturally by heading into new expeditions, and fighting various enemies. After doing so, the research should complete, unlocking new weaponry in your game.
