How to Fish: How to Complete the Forest Island

The second island introduces new fish, better equipment and the Giant Piranha boss. This walkthrough takes you from the Lighthouse Island boat to the Forest Island, shows you how to complete the Leech quest and prepares you for the boss fight.

After defeating the Spider Crab, give its meat to the Lighthouse Keeper to receive the boat keys. Before leaving, purchase the Radar from him for $10.

Get aboard the boat and equip the Radar. A green dot should now appear northwest of the Lighthouse. Steer towards this marker until the Forest Island comes into view, then pull up beside the shore and leave the boat.

Once you arrive, head inland and find the woman sitting beside the lake near the shop. Speak to her to begin the Dinnertime quest, which asks you to collect three Leeches.

Make sure the quest is active before searching, as the Leeches can be difficult to notice among the grass.

The Leeches are found lying on the ground around the forest. You do not need to catch them with your fishing rod or purchase a special lure.

Slowly search through the grass while looking down and watch for the interaction prompt. Continue until the quest counter reaches three, then return to the woman.

She will take the Leeches and give you a Modified Leech, which is the special bait needed to summon the Giant Piranha.

The Forest Island shop sells an upgraded Fishing Rod and new types of bait. Purchase the Fishing Rod before continuing, as it allows you to catch the larger fish found around the island.

You can also purchase the Beginner Lure and Beginner Boss Lure. The Beginner Boss Lure summons optional minibosses and is not required to progress through the story.

The Giant Piranha cannot be summoned with a shop bought lure. You will need the Modified Leech obtained by completing the island’s main quest.

Do not use the Modified Leech immediately. The Giant Piranha appears as soon as you fish with it, so prepare before starting the encounter.

The Forest Island shop sells a Shotgun for $150, making it a strong purchase before the fight. Catch and sell some of the island’s regular fish if you still need money. You should also eat, bring extra food and make sure your weapon is ready before using the bait.

After defeating the Giant Piranha, collect its Skeleton and return it to the woman beside the lake. She will reward you with the coordinates for the third island.

Return to your boat and check the Radar to begin the next part of your adventure.
