Build Overview

Do you hear that? That is the sound of Zeal spinning. Enemies weaken, packs evaporate, and you stay in the fight because this build rewards aggression. This is AoElena’s Zealspin Paladin. Welcome to one of the most satisfying builds of Season 13!

The Zealspin Paladin build comes online effortlessly without perfect gear - making it a great fit for someone interested in blasting through seasonal content with ease. You really just need Red Sermon for the damage to really come online. This build thrives in Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, Infernal Hordes, and the Pit.

Clear packs effortlessly with Zealot's Legacy Zeal and the Paladin unique Red Sermon, passively building critical strike chance and damage every time you lose life. Build attack speed and critical chance with Fanaticism Aura. Sustain with Defiance Aura and Holy Light Aura. Group enemies with Condemn. Your ultimate Fortress will grant you 4%[x] damage per stack of resolve (we have around 58+ stacks). This will push you past Pit 128+!

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Low gear requirements
  • High adrenaline combat
  • Bosses go down quick
  • Satisfying gameplay
  • HP management (instead of resource)

Build Variants

Heir of Perdition is a BIS helm because of the 80%[x] damage increase that can double or triple if other members in the party also wear it. If you're needing sustain against elemental damage, Tyrael's Might fixes that problem with MASSIVE damage reduction and resistances. However, Aspect of Heavenly Strength is BIS as the chestpiece due to a whopping 40% Damage Reduction!

If you have decent Critical Chance, aim for Critical Strike Damage on your offensive gear. Temper Maximum Resolve Stacks on all defensive pieces and be sure to Masterwork this affix. You will notice HUGE increases in your damage and sustain due to Aspect of Glynn's Anvil and Fortress granting 4% damage per Resolve stack.

With Tempering, make sure to keep rerolling until your Temper is a GA (the value will be higher than the max range).

We use Signet of Pelghain with this build because enemies will pemanently take 20%[x] damage for each second that they are frozen, which is constantly due to our Runewords CirCeh and IgniThul. None of the legendary aspects seem to compete with this!

You should be able to clear Pit 128+ with this build, higher if your gear surpasses mine!

Oaths
  1. Use Advance as your basic early on to build resource if needed (i.e. if you don't have Red Sermon yet) otherwise, replace this slot with Fanaticism Aura to proc Weakness and boost your attack speed/critical strike chance
  2. Spam Zeal - this is your biggest source of damage
  3. Use Condemn to group enemies and gain giga movement speed
  4. Use Defiance Aura to become Unstoppable while the passive grants a MAJOR armor/all resistance bonus
  5. Use Holy Light Aura for a boost to healing and to reduce the cooldown of Aspect of the Fortress (thanks to Resplendence).
  6. Your ultimate Fortress will keep you alive and greatly increase your damage during fights (4% per stack of Resolve x 40+ stacks)

Equipment Priority
+9
  • Stat priorities: Crit Chance (get to 100%,), Attack Speed (get to 100%), Critical Strike Damage, Vulnerable Damage
  • You can upgrade a Common 2-Handed Sword to a Unique (aka Red Sermon) via the Horadric Cube as long as you have 1 Enhanced Primordial Dust and 10 Raw Primordial Dust
  • The Aspect of Militance works if you don't have Heir of Perdition yet
  • Aspect of Glynn's Anvil works great on pants if you Temper Resolve Stacks on your defensive pieces, getting a whopping 4% Damage Reduction per stack of Resolve thanks to Fortress
  • If you don't have Red Sermon, you can use a 2H sword with Aspect of the Zealot's Covenant for damage (this will free up an aspect slot on your ring, you can use Aspect of Utmost Glory as long as you're applying Weaken via Fanaticism Aura's active)
  • If your HP drains too much with Red Sermon, this can be solved by putting Life on Hit on your gear via enchanting
  • At level 10, tempers unlock. Be sure to constantly temper Critical Strike Damage and Vulnerable Damage on offensive pieces of gear
  • Focus on enchanting Strength, Life on Hit, Armor, and Critical Strike Damage until you get Red Sermon

Talismans

Talisman Priority
+7

With the Zealspin build, use the Dauntless Faith charm set to get BIG Critical Strike damage, cast speed, 200%[x] Zealot Skill damage, and gain the ability to cast a Zealot Afterimage every few seconds (BIG damage, lots of "echoes")

- Endurant Faith makes you feel unkillable - this is the safe charm to use!

- Want even more damage? The BIS damage charm is Blood-Mad Idol for a big 100%[x] damage multiplier. This is risky, but it does more damage than Griswold's Opus or Godslayer Crown.

If you don't have Red Sermon, use Advance (Vanguard's Rush modifier) to maximize your Fervor stacks for more damage (and build resource)

We change the ultimate to Fortress with the Rampart of Thorns modifier - This will allow you to almost instantly reset it by spamming your auras (via Resplendence) after Fortress is cast (the cooldown timer starts instantly with this modifier).

Paragon Board

The paragon board here starts with the mentality of "how quickly can I grab all legendary nodes and sockets?" The rare (yellow) and magic (blue) nodes are important, but the power from legendary nodes are way more impactful early on. If you need more damage, look for blue/yellow nodes that are nearby to grab with beneficial stats (ex. x% total armor, x% maximum life).

If you see [x] anywhere on the paragon board (mostly found in glyphs), that type of number is multiplicative, thus will scale higher than additive.

Boards/Glyphs

1. Starter Board/Honed Glyph - This legendary node gives big critical strike damage/chance for each stack of Fervor. The glyph gives massive critical strike damage.

2. Fervent/Feverous Glyph - You should have 3-4 stacks of Fervor, thus granting you a 20%[x] increased damage and around 200% Zealot damage thanks to the Ferverous Glyph.

3. Shield Bearer/Sentinel - This board is better than Preacher because it offers up to 110% increased damage (opposed to 60%). The glyph grants you 1.5%[x] damage per stack of Resolve (and we have 58 stacks). SWAP THIS BOARD OUT IF YOU ARE NOT GETTING BLOCK CHANCE VIA AEGIS.

4. Relentless/Resplendence - This board offers 80%[x] increased damage permanently as long as you're moving, along with 30%[+] cooldown reduction. The glyph offers massive Cooldown Reduction, so be sure to grab the magic nodes as their power gets amplified with the glyph. The CDR is going to increase our uptime of Fortress so we can keep massive damage and sustain up when pushing hard content.

5. Castle/Spirit - This board grants us damage that scales with our Damage Reduction from Armor, and currently it is around 96%[x]. This will scale with us as we get more Armor, so add armor nodes from the paragon board as whenever you have extra points to spend. The increases from armor nodes will seem minimal, but will scale your damage, as other boards don't scale here. The glyph Spirit grants more critical strike damage.

Alternative Glyphs:

- Turf grants us 15% Damage Reduction against Close enemies, and also grants us damage to Close targets. This seems less beneficial than the current glyphs, but it offers less damage with a bit more DR for a slight boost in defenses.

- Exploit: If you're tankier, you can swap to the Exploit glyph to proc Vulnerable and do increased damage to Vulnerable targets.

- Chip: This glyph can be used for more damage on Zeal as it offers a physical damage increase. When physical damage is dealt, the enemy will take up to 15%[x] increased damage from you for 15 seconds.

Mercenary

Raheir passively grants 15% Resist All Elements - quite helpful!

Varyana offers 10% attack speed!

How it Plays

You're going to be a VERY fast Paladin with this build. Clear packs effortlessly with Zealot's Legacy Zeal and the Paladin unique Red Sermon, passively building critical strike chance and damage every time you lose life. You might feel like a glass cannon as you progress towards Torment 10-12.

Build attack speed and critical chance with Fanaticism Aura. Group enemies with Condemn, and sustain with Defiance Aura and Holy Light Aura.

Your ultimate Fortress will keep you alive during fights that would normally kill you, super good for Pit pushing! The damage increase from the Resolve stacks while in Fortress is another big factor.

How it Works

As a Zealot Paladin, you spin to win (well, it LOOKS like you're spinning). Basically, you stack Zealot damage with Revelator's Aspect and Aspect of the Zealot's Covenant, hitting those Zeal strikes harder with Fervor stacks thanks to Aspect of Jacques' Fervor. Your Red Sermon will grant you Death or Glory for free, amplifying your damage even further at the cost of draining your HP.

Changelog

May 26, 2026: Created the Ultimate version of Zealspin (Pit 125+) with Condemn instead of Consecration! New build video: https://youtu.be/7XEpslPCM3Y

May 21, 2026: Swapped Virtuous Aspect ring out for Signet of Pelghain and changed the Kry rune to to Thul to proc Freeze. BIG damage increase!

May 16, 2026: Preacher board was swapped out for Shield Bearer due to the 110%[x] damage (opposed to only 60%) increase. Added Rally to the skill bar to proc Virtuous Aspect for a damage multiplier (due to Aspect of Jacques' Fervor not applying damage correctly).

May 14, 2026: Aspect of Glynn's Anvil has been patched and works, so Zealspin Paladin has been rebuilt around Resolve stacks, as it offers massive damage and sustain improvements!

May 7, 2026: Created a Fortress variant to push past Pit 105, added Rally skill points to both variants for extra Damage Reduction (via the charm set bonus)
