Build Overview

The Zenith Paladin Build Guide teaches you about Gear, Skills, Paragon, Playstyle & Seasonal Mechanics in Diablo 4 Season 12.

Zenith is an Ultimate skill that focuses on dealing the most possible damage once you have reached sufficient Cooldown Reduction. The Sermon of Steel upgrade provides lets us cast Zenith infinitely with enough Attack Speed by endlessly extending its Duration. Since we are always casting Zenith, Aspect of Apogeic Furor constantly resets all our Cooldowns. We utilize the Zealot Oath, providing us with many potent damage multipliers and healing.

Oaths

Zenith with Sermon of Steel is our main damage dealer, by attacking fast we can extend its duration infinitely. Condemn is used to group up enemies to make up for our mediocre AoE. Defiance Aura gives us damage with Rite of Might, while giving us more survivability and Unstoppable.
Fanaticism Aura gives us damage and applies Weaken. Consecration gives us more damage via Enhanced Consecration. Falling Star improves our mobility.

Core Items and Requirements

  • This build has no Unique requirements but Griswold's Opus massively increases our damage.
  • If you do not have Heir of Perdition with a GA on Critical Strike Chance you will need to replace Life on Hit/Maximum Life Affixes on your gear with Critical Strike Chance until you reach 100% with Maximum Fervor stacks
    • Godslayer Crown makes a fine replacement
  • It's very important to have a GA Casting Ultimate Skills Restores Primary Resource Temper with a Masterwork Crit to be able to fully regenerate Faith before every Ahu + Qax proc.

To know where to farm all the Uniques you need for the build make sure to check out the Boss Loot Tables Guide.

Getting multiple great passives on an Amulet can be tricky or expensive. In the Frequently Asked Questions section, you can find a Tier List with all the Affixes you can get on your Amulet.

Bloodied Affixes to chase:

  • S-Tier:
    • Primary Core Stat per KIll Streak (Armor and Shield)
    • Every 25 Kills, gain Berserking for 4 seconds (Weapon)
  • A-Tier:
    • Cooldown Reduction per Killstreak Tier (Armor and Shield)
    • Attack Speed per Killstreak Tier (Armor and Shield) until Attack Speed cap
    • Critical Strike Chance per Killstreak Tier (Armor and Shield) until Critical Strike Chance cap
  • B-Tier:
    • Life on Hit per Killstreak Tier (Armor and Shield)
    • Maximum Life per Killstreak Tier (Armor and Shield)
  • C-Tier:
      • Every 15 Kills, Restore 25% of your Maximum Primary Resource (Weapon)

If you are unfamiliar with Blood Affixes, check out our Season 12 Overview for more information.

Elixirs and Incenses

ElixirElixir of Advantage
Core IncenseAncient Times
Defensive IncenseReddamine Buzz
Resistance IncenseSoothing Spices

It's important to run Elixirs and Incenses at all times. Not only because they increase your Experience gain but also because they provide very strong combat boosts.

We use Elixir of Advantage for Attack Speed and Ancient Times for more Strength.

Soothing Spices and Reddamine Buzz makes us tankier.

How it Plays

  • Use Consecration for damage with Enhanced Consecration.
  • Use Fanaticism Aura to Weaken enemies which makes them do less damage and increases our damage via Break the Line.
  • Use Condemn to group up enemies.
  • Use Falling Star for mobility.
  • Spam Zenith as its our main damage dealer but also to avoid it going on Cooldown as Sermon of Steel extends the duration of Zenith when we cast it.

How it Works

Core Mechanics

Damage

becomes our main damage dealer by using Sermon of Steel. We have access to crazy amounts of Attack Speed via Fanaticism Aura and Preacher, by attacking fast enough we extend the Cooldown further than its duration, indefenitely.

Defiance Aura gives us damage with Rite of Might and Consecration gives us more damage via Enhanced Consecration.

Zealot is our Oath of choice, which synergizes perfectly with Aspect of the Zealot's Covenant, Aspect of Jacques' Fervor, Revelator's Aspect and Fervent.

Defenses

Because we have so much free access to Critical Strike Chance and Attack Speed, we can spam Maximum Life and Life on Hit Affixes on our Gear making us very tanky.

Runes

Early on, useCir + Gar to reach 100% Critical Strike Chance.

Later on, we swap it for Gar for Thul to get Damage, Crowd Control for Dizzying Blow and Vulnerable application.

We also use Ahu + Qax for a massive damage multiplier.

Why are we taking Rite of Might, how are we generating Resolve?

We generate Resolve with the Courage Passive that is granted to us by Shroud of False Death.

Alternatively, on some builds we generate it more consistently with Clash or Fortress.

Where are we getting Fortified from?

  • To count as being Fortified, any amount of Fortification will do.
  • We boost the Fortified amount with some magic nodes on Preacher.
  • Raheir, your mercenary, also provides a bit of Fortify through his ability.
  • Renewal gives Fortify and is provided by Shroud of False Death for free.
