Build Overview

Introduction

After spending over 1,100 hours as a Monk main in Path of Exile 2, Spiritborn instantly stood out to me in Diablo 4. It has the same kind of playstyle I enjoy: fast movement, aggressive combat, constant attacks, and a build that rewards momentum.

This guide is written from a beginner’s perspective. I’m still new to Diablo myself, so the aim is not to present this as a fully min-maxed expert setup. Instead, the goal is to keep the build simple, smooth, and easy to follow while learning how Spiritborn works.

Main Focus

  • Fast movement
  • Aggressive melee combat
  • Easy-to-follow skill interactions
  • Smooth clearing
  • A build that can improve over time

This build is a starting point, not the final perfect version. As I learn more about Diablo 4, the build will grow, improve, and become stronger.

If you’re new to Diablo, coming over from PoE2, or trying Spiritborn for the first time, this should give you a solid place to start.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Fast clear
  • Absolute Tank
  • Crazy amounts of DPS
  • Lots of green

Build Variants

The skill relies on using Thrash to maintain Vigor which allows you to spam Stinger and spread that poison. Pair this with Toxic Skin this allows you to maintain your hp.

Touch of Death is a great addition as it can spread to other enemies using the Additional Charge Touch of Death and Vulnerable Touch of Death. Furthermore, this also weakens enemies, increasing your damage output.

Finally, we can take Counterattack of the Swarm Counterattack to also weaken enemies, this allows Counterattack to do larger amounts of damage, and send out swarms, I have been testing this in my stream, it works great.

The main rotation is as follows:

1. Activate Toxic Skin with the Erupting Skin Toxic Skin to launch globs of poison to the surrounding enemies.
2. Use Thrash paired with Stinger to spread poison to each enemy while maintaining vigor.
3. Periodically activate Touch of Death with Erupting Swarm Touch of Death and Additional Charge Touch of Death.
4. Use Scourge to also make enemies vulnerable, this paired with the poison dots, will give you some great damage over time.
5. Activate your ultimate skill The Devourer again to increase your poison damage.

The Centipede secondary spirit skill will allow you to maintain your hp which ultimately means more survival.

For survival, we take Healing Toxic Skin paired with Skuttle Bug Toxic Skin, plus Healing Scourge will give you a lot of healing, this should allow us to maintain our hp.
You can also take Iron Skin to give more life and a shield.

Build Testing
I have been testing Rushing Claw with Damage Increase Rushing Claw and Colossal Claw Rushing Claw instead of Thrash for more damage, it is working well, especially when paired with Ravager to allow you to maintain your ferocity. If you take the Jaguar secondary spirit this allows you to maintain ferocity.

Equipment

Equipment wise, as this is a levelling guide, I just took any equipment that gave me more poison damage or poison multiplier, the rest was focused on pure attack and defences. I will have an updated gear list when I reach endgame.

Talismans

Similar to gear, talismans I am using ones that give me XP and + to skills to increase the damage.
These can be swapped around to alter what you may be lacking.

Start with Thrash, then as soon as you can, make your way down to Stinger, this will be your main skill and deal crazy amounts of damage.

Throughout the campaign, I was hitting for crazy numbers, such as 440k. If you take Potent Sting Stinger, this will spread all your poison damage to the surrounding enemies. Paired with Erupting Swarm Touch of Death, poison will do crazy amounts of dps.

If you are struggling early campaign for survival, take Healing Withering Fist then move to Thrash when you get Healing Toxic Skin.

How it Plays

How it Works

The main goal is to spread as much poison as possible and then use Stinger to further spread the poison and cause large amounts of aoe dps in a single strike.
As spiritborn is melee, we made sure to focus on survival, so we are not a glass canon.
