Build Overview

Welcome to the Primal Wolves build. This build is designed to level efficiently from level 1 to 60, and you’ll also be able to enjoy its endgame version that destroys everything in Sanctuary. Without a doubt, one of the best Druid builds this season

*At the start of this build, use the gear as a guide. The most radical changes are found in the Skill Tree and the way we play the build*

Remember, at the start prioritize defensive stats like Armor, All Resistances and max life. For offense, focus on Willpower, Critical Strike, and Attack Speed

Skill Tree

  • Wind Shear is spectacular at the start: it applies Vulnerable, has range to recover Spirit, and increases movement speed thanks to Fierce Wind Shear
  • We’ll use Lightning Storm for its huge AoE damage at the start. It will help us clear trash quickly with our companions
  • We’ll use Blood Howl to recover Life and Spirit and gain more damage. It also lets us equip Digitigrade Gait to increase our movement speed
  • Finally, we have all our companions ready to deal damage: Wolves for strong single-target damage, and Ravens and Poison Creeper for more AoE and area control
  • The Clarity passive helps us increase the damage of Lightning Storm after casting any companion skill
  • Call of the Wild also helps increase the damage of our companion skills

IMPORTANT:

Activate the Leveling Path above the Skill Tree so you can see the order of skills as you level up

Paragon Board

  • We’ll use Headhunter on the first page to gain more Willpower and also extra damage against Elites
  • Untamed increases the damage of our companions. Wilds has the same purpose: to further increase our companions’ damage
  • Lust for Carnage helps us a lot in this build, because thanks to Aspect of the Alpha, our companions are now Werewolf companions, so they benefit from this node And Keeper increases our non-physical damage by 15%.
  • Thunderstruck increases the damage of our Storm abilities, meaning our Wolves, and also gives us Critical Strike, which is great for this build. Here we’ll use the Earth and Sky glyph. Besides the benefits the glyph provides, there’s another reason: placing it on this page increases damage to nearby enemies, which synergizes with the magical nodes we have on this page
  • Heightened Malice increases our damage against Poisoned enemies, and Spirit boosts our Critical Strike Damage.

Mercenary

  • Raheir is usually the safest option for the average player, since he gives us 15% more armor and helps us survive longer in battle.
  • Varyana helps us pull mobs together, which is optimal for Pulverize, since our AoE damage isn’t the best. If you're lacking attack speed, use Bloodthirst.

How it Plays

ENDGAME

  • We stack Quickshift using Maul and the Town Portal. This is explained in the Skills section of the Skill Tree
  • Then we activate Grizzly Rage to gain all the buffs related to our ultimate
  • Finally, we cast our Ravens to gain Critical Strike, and then continue with our Wolves to deal massive damage
  • Cyclone Armor reduces non-physical damage passively. You don’t need to activate it—just having it on your skill bar is enough

LEVELING

  • The way you play this build is quite simple. In the early levels, we only need to understand how the skills interact with each other in order to level efficiently.
  • First, we have Wind Shear as our basic skill for Spirit regeneration. It also makes enemies Vulnerable and grants us movement speed, so it’s essential to keep it on our skill bar.
  • Next, we have Lightning Storm, which works as a complementary ability to our companions. It deals good AoE damage and helps us clear large packs of enemies. To make the most out of it, cast it after using a Companion skill to benefit from the Clarity passive. In simple terms, this passive makes the next Core skill cast after a Companion skill deal increased damage and gain increased Critical Strike Chance. Because of this, Lightning Storm becomes an essential skill to control the battlefield from level 1 to 60.
  • Next are our Wolves, the star of the build. This skill not only deals damage but also helps tank some hits from enemies. You should mainly use the Wolves when you need single-target damage, such as against Elites or Bosses. Otherwise, just let them roam beside you while they destroy everything around you.
  • Then we have Ravens and Poison Creeper, which help with crowd control and additional damage, especially when you’re surrounded by enemies. They are excellent tools for area damage and CC.
  • Finally, we have Blood Howl, our only defensive skill. It allows us to heal, increase our damage, and regenerate Spirit. Remember that Spirit regeneration helps us cast Lightning Storm more often.
  • This is the most important part when leveling with this build: understanding how the skills interact with each other.

How it Works

PRIMAL WOLVES

  • The function of this build is pretty simple. Everything revolves around our main skill, Wolves. With Storm's Companion, we give them the Storm skill tag, so they benefit from Storm-style passives and Paragon nodes. Aspect of the Alpha adds the Werewolf tag, letting them also benefit from all passives and nodes associated with that tag
  • Packleader boon is the most important mechanic, as it allows us to reset our Wolves cooldown faster, or almost instantly. But for this to work, we need a high Critical Chance, because this is how the reset triggers
  • Grizzly Rage allows us to use our companion skill while it’s active. We’ll take advantage of this to boost our defenses and damage. It also lets us equip an aspect that greatly increases our final DPS, which is Aspect of the Rampaging Werebeast
  • Here’s where the cooldown reduction temperings for this skill come into play, and we’ll also use Flickerstep to reset it even faster
