How to Play Pit Fighter — TFT Set 13: Into the Arcane

Welcome to our trait guide, where we’ll be covering the Pit Fighter trait in the new TFT Set 13: Into the Arcane. In this guide, we’ll explain how Pit Fighter works, cover the different champions, provide notable Augment choices, and cover some potential team comps.

How TFT Pit Fighter Works

Pit Fighter is a simple fighting trait that allows melee carry units to have some extra survivability through Omnivamp and a one time heal. Melee carrys are always prevalent in TFT, and the Pit Fighter trait has a lot of possibilities.

Draven is the one Pit Fighter who is ranged, but Gangplank can also be ranged with his Form Swapper trait. Items like Bloodthirster, Hand of Justice, or Sterak’s Gage are generally strong on these characters so they can sustain while dealing good damage.

Pit Fighter Trait Bonus

Champions: Draven 1g / Violet 1g / Urgot 2g / Gangplank 3g / Vi 4g / Sevika 5g

Pit Fighters gain 15% Omnivamp and deal bonus true damage. Once per combat at 50% Health, they heal a percentage of their max Health over 2 seconds.

• (2) 6% true damage, 10% Health
• (4) 12% true damage, 25% Health
• (6) 20% true damage, 40% Health
• (8) 50% true damage, 99% Health

Pit Fighter Synergy

Here’s a list of traits you can branch into from the Pit Fighter Champions:

• Conqueror (Draven)
• Family (Violet)
• Experiment (Urgot)
• Artillerist (Urgot)
• Scrap (Gangplank)
• Form Swapper (Gangplank)
• Enforcer (Vi)
• High Roller (Sevika Exclusive)
• Chem-Baron (Sevika)

Firstly, there is no overlap in the Origin traits for the Pit Fighter roster. Even still, it shouldn’t be too difficult to get some synergy going on. You can also use a variety of Emblems to power up these units further.

For example, you can put Artillerist Emblem on Draven and pair him with Urgot. However, this is an early game combination that will rely on rerolling/3-stars to compete late game.

The Pit Fighter trait naturally has a 4 and 5-cost unit with Vi and Sevika respectively. As such, it’ll be quite easy to default to them when building a strong board. From there, you can look to activate their traits and branch out further.

TFT Pit Fighter Champions

Draven Conqueror Pit Fighter 1g

Draven is making his return to TFT, and his ability is a classic. He will spin an axe with his hand on his active, and that axe will continue empowering his next auto attack. These axes will return to his location and he will catch them, creating a loop of extra damage.

However, if Draven moves from his spot, he will drop an axe, losing that empowered damage. In the past, players often used things like Rapid Firecannon to give Draven full range of the board.

In Set 13, you’ll need to position well so he doesn’t drop his axe too often, but also so that he isn’t too close to danger.

Violet Family Pit Fighter 1g

Violet is making her TFT “debut” along with other characters from Arcane like Powder and Vander. These three make up the Family trait, which incentivizes playing a reroll comp. However, the three units can certainly be played with other teams to utilize their other trait.

In the case of Violet, you can simply use her to hold onto your melee carry items until you find a higher-cost unit. Or, if you are lucky, you can commit to a reroll team comp if you find lots of copies.

Urgot Experiment Pit Fighter Artillerist 2g

Urgot is a 2-cost unit with three traits, making him an attractive unit to pick up early if you want to be flexible. But, if you’re just starting out, you may want to just force a team comp rather than try to play flexibly.

Overall, Urgot has a solid kit with damage and Sunder. Sunder reduces the target’s armor, effectively increasing the Attack Damage of your entire team against said target. If you can make use of 2 or even 3 of his traits in your team comp, Urgot can certainly be kept on your board even if he’s not your reroll carry.

Gangplank Scrap Form Swapper Pit Fighter 3g

Gangplank is a Form Swapper, meaning you can decide whether you want him to be a frontline unit or a backline unit. The trait’s bonus and his ability will change depending where you place him on the board.

We’ve seen champions with this type of mechanic in the past, but we haven’t seen a full trait for it yet. With Gangplank, you can have him deal damage up front, or in the back where it’s safe.

He also has three traits, meaning there’s a lot of flexibility you have when deciding for what team comp to commit to.

Vi Enforcer Pit Fighter 4g

Vi is the only 4-cost Pit Fighter, and as such, she likely will be a decent carry unit for the team. Her ability grants a shield, stuns her target, and deals damage, and has an AoE knockup. With so much utility in her kit, it’s possible her damage may be lacking, but you can always have multiple carrys for your team.

The Enforcer trait has other units that can deal damage, so Vi is a great pickup for those teams. Splash in Pit Fighter 2, and you have a solid core of units for your board.

Sevika High Roller Chem-Baron Pit Fighter 5g

Sevika is the 5-cost unit of the Pit Fighter trait and she has multiple different abilities. She’ll randomly cast one, and she will occasionally hit a Jackpot! Her Chem-Baron trait is the high stakes economy trait of the set, so finding Sevika will be huge for hitting a higher trait bonus.

Once you stabilize from the Chem-Baron trait, you can build your board around Sevika, Vi, and other units to make a core of strong high-cost units.

Best TFT Pit Fighter Augments

In general, Augments like Crest and Crown will always be good, but there are definitely more notable ones to explore and discover. As we make our way to the PBE, we’ll be sure to test a variety of combinations and update this article with what we find.

TFT Pit Fighter Team Comps

The set has yet to even come out on PBE yet, and unfortunately, our team was unable to playtest the Set this time around. While we can’t recommend team comps at the moment, we’ll be sure to come back and update this article once we have a good feel for things.
