Noxus Map Changes in Season 25.S1 (Season 15)

New Seasons Noxus Changes

The new League of Legends season is upon us, and what a year to look forward to. This year, Riot Games is taking a different approach to Seasons, introducing massive changes to Summoners Rift and the overall 2025 plan and roadmap.

Unlike other seasons, Riot is now splitting the year into 3 separate seasons, each with a unique map and list of changes. In previous years, there would be 1 season, which was made up of several splits.

Furthermore, instead of calling this year season 15, Riot has called it “25.S1.” It looks a little confusing at first, but it starts with the year (2025), followed by the split number (Split 1), and then another numberit is important to note after the S1, there is usually another number which indicates the patch number. The first season begins on the 9th of January and ends in April. You can find the full schedule here.

The first season is based on the Noxus Map, and in this Mobalytics article, we will go over the major changes related to Summoners Rift. But before we begin, I would highly recommend you read the patch notes to get a full break down of all the changes in the new season.

Map Changes

The first thing you’ll notice is that Summoners Rift has gone red. This matches the theme of Noxus being dark/red.

LoL Noxus Map

Everything is impacted by this change, including minions and turrets. Each has new animations and colour schemes.

There are no new permanent walls or terrain that are overly different from previous seasons, so it should be quite familiar if you’ve been playing League of Legends for a long time.

Turret Changes

One of the hardest things to do in League of Legends is ending a game when the enemy has a lot of wave clear or your teammates keep dying trying to backdoor the game. While technically more update-related rather than Noxus-related, Nexus turrets will now respawn to full health after being destroyed (after a 3-minute delay).

The goal is to prevent people from being backdoored but also stop games from being drawn out that feel hopeless by the losing team- it should stop delaying the inevitable. This is a good idea because sometimes a surrender vote doesn’t always go through either, so at least when this happens, you have a chance to make a comeback.

In my opinion, this is quite a cool change if you’re on the losing team, as it could offer you a chance to come back. For the winning team, however, it might be a bit harder to end and can also give the enemy a chance to win. However, I think that the change is good for the game overall.

New Monster

There is a new monster that comes out to play in the new season. This monster is called Atakhan and can spawn in either the top or bottom side of the map.

The side that this monster spawns on depends on which side gets more kills. If there are more kills in the top lane, it will spawn at the top side of the map, more kills on bottom and it will spawn on the bottom side.

There are 2 versions of this new epic monster, each depending on how many champions have been killed so far. For high kill games, Ruinous Atakhan will spawn, and for low kill games, Voracious Atakhan will spawn.

Each version of Atakhan provides different buffs

For Ruinous Atakhan (high kill gameplay), the team gets a 25% increase to all epic monster rewards and Blood Rose drops.

For Voracious Atakhan (low kill gameplay), the team gets an additional 40 gold per champion kill, and a 150-second death mitigation effect. Consider this like the old Guardian’s Angel if you’ve been around long enough to remember that item. After dying, you will go back to base and respawn. It’s basically a quicker respawn.

Blood Roses are also dropped. These permanent stacking bonuses give bonus XP and adaptive force (AP or AD, depending on your champion).

Both objectives are good and will help your team. The Ruinous Atakhan helps with snowballing and getting bonuses from objectives. I prefer the Voracious Atakhan as it feels like it helps more with scaling and helps you get more gold. However, you can’t really choose which one spawns, so you’re out of luck regarding that.

Miscellaneous Changes

With the introduction of a new objective, it has delayed other major objectives like the Rift Heald and Baron Nashor, however Dragons are unaffected.

  • Rift Herald now spawns at the 16-minute mark.
  • Baron Nashor is delayed until the 25-minute mark.

In my opinion, the Rift Herald one isn’t that big of a deal, but the delay in Baron Nashor feels a bit more dramatic. But it is important to note that the Rift Herald delay could make the difference between getting more towers and kills.

Darius Splash Crop

However, I cannot remember the last time my team took this objective at the 20-minute mark, so it may not make that much of a difference.

There are some other changes to the game as well, such as a Teleport rework, item changes, champion buffs and nerfs, and Boots upgrades. I highly recommend reading the patch notes here to get a full and clear picture of all the changes happening in the new Season of LoL.

In Conclusion

That about sums up the major changes coming to LoL regarding the map and terrain. I am super excited to see what the new season of LoL has to offer. I think that Riot have been putting in a lot of work lately and are taking on user feedback to improve the game. I for one cannot wait to see what other map changes they have to offer in the next seasons and splits. I want a snow map for Freljord, so I hope they do that soon!
