The Beginner’s Guide to the New Legendary LoL Items for Season 11
Riot’s main goal for the Preseason leading up to Season 11 is to make the game feel new and one way they are doing this is by revamping the shop and reworking the itemization for many champions.
They’ve added, changed, and even removed tons of items so we’ll be covering all the new stuff in a series of item guides. In this particular one we’ll be covering these Legendary items:
- Chempunk Chainsword
- Chemtech Putrifier
- Cosmic Drive
- Horizon Focus
- Navori Quickblade
- Serpent’s Focus
- Serylda’s Grudge
- Silvermere Dawn
- Staff of Flowing Water
- The Collector
- Vigilant Wardstone
If you want to know about all the other new items Riot have implemented for Season 11, keep an eye out for other Season 11 item articles where we’ll be breaking down all the new items.
Although we’ve been doing quite a bit of testing on the PBE, note that the game is very much in a state of flux with all the new changes so note that the items may change in terms of stats and effects. This also means that our recommendations are subject to change as well based on the way the game develops throughout the Preseason.
Note: You may notice that some of these items have something called “haste”. Haste is similar to cooldown reduction as it allows you to use your abilities more often. However, it doesn’t have a cap and you can buy as much haste as you like.
Chempunk Chainsword
Chempunk Chainsword gives AD, health, and 15 ability haste. Dealing physical damage applies Grievous Wounds to the enemy so it’s a new anti-healing option.
Note that if a target is below 50% health, it will increase the potency of its ability.
- Champions who could use this item:
- Caitlyn
- Draven
- Vayne
Chemtech Putrifier
Chemtech Putrifier gives AP, 15 ability haste, and mana regeneration.
This is basically the magic damage equivalent of Chempunk Chainsword except it deals additional Grievous Wounds when its user immobilizes its enemies.
We’ll likely see this as a common option for ranged Supports with CC.
- Champions who could use this item:
- Zyra
- Brand
- Vel’koz
Cosmic Drive
Cosmic Drive gives AP, health, and 30 ability haste. Dealing damage with abilities grants you extra movement speed, so it’s a good choice for mages that want to continually barrage their enemies with spells.
- Champions who could use this item
- Vladimir
- Syndra
- Kassadin
Horizon Focus
Horizon Focus gives AP. Damaging a champion with a skill shot from afar or by immobilizing (roots and stuns) them will briefly reveal them.
While revealed, they will take increased damage from you (this does not apply to your allies).
Overall, this is a useful choice for poke champions that want to provide their team with more utility. Note that this will not work with pets and non-immobilizing traps
- Champions who could use this item
- Lux
- Zoe
- Neeko
Navori Quickblade
Navori Quickblade gives AD, crit chance, and 30 ability haste. In addition, your crit strikes reduce your basic ability cooldowns by 20%, making this a great option for ability-heavy AD champs.
- Champions who could use this item
- Xayah
- Varus
- Tristana
Serpent’s Fang
Serpent’s Fang gives AD and lethality. It causes attacks and spells deal bonus damage to shielded targets, making this a useful item for assassins playing into enchanters, Lockets, and tanks that use shields.
- Champions who could use this item
- Talon
- Zed
- Lee Sin
Serylda’s Grudge
Serylda’s Grudge gives AD, armor penetration, and 20 ability haste. Damaging abilities slow the enemy briefly, making it a useful tool for chasing down fleeing enemies.
This makes Serylda’s Grudge an ideal item for assassins that lack CC and the penetration will also help take down tankier targets.
- Champions who could use this item:
- Zed
- Talon
- Shaco
The Collector
The Collector gives AD, critical strike and lethality. Dealing damage that would put the enemy below 5% health executes them and you’ll get 25 gold to boot.
This will be a great item for aggressive marksmen that are targeting squishy enemies. Although it can be used for melees, it’s more geared for ranged champs in most cases.
- Champions who could use this item:
- Miss Fortune
- Caitlyn
- Vayne
Silvermere Dawn
Silvermere Dawn gives AD, health, and magic resistance. Its active removes all CC debuffs and gives you some tenacity and slow resistance.
This provides a useful QSS options for bruisers and assassins. Note that this does not include Airborne.
- Champions who could use this item:
- Renekton
- Zed
- Lee Sin
Staff of Flowing Water
Staff of Flowing Water is the brand new toy for enchanters which gives AP, healing and shielding power, and mana regeneration.
Healing or shielding an ally also gives both of you extra AP and movement speed.
An interesting note is that the scaling of the effects are based on the level of your ally you’re casting on.
- Champions who could use this item:
- Janna
- Lulu
- Sona
Vigilant Wardstone Upgrade
Vigilant Wardstone Upgrade will give you 40 ability haste and extra movement speed. This item will allow you to store up to 3 Control Wards.
It will also allow you to increase your Stealth and Control placement by 1. Note that this will only occur at level 13 and beyond so it is primarily a late game option.
