Most Popular Champions in LoL (Season 14)
If you are an avid League of Legends player and play every day, you will see yourself facing off and playing with the same champions every day. In this Mobalytics article, we will list 10 of the most popular champions in LoL. Before we get into this article, what champions do you think are going to be on our list? I am surprised by a few of them!
The data we use for this article comes from patch 14.6, all servers, and is Emerald+ ranked only. These picks might change depending on localisation, rank, and skill level. Similarly, you may find an unfair balance between role diversification. This is due to how many champions can be played in one role.

1. Jinx (28.36%)
The most popular champion in the game is Jinx. On this patch, she had an incredibly high pick rate and a quite high ban rate. This means that players were usually picking or banning her. Jinx is the poster child of the game: She was one of the main characters in their Netflix show, Arcane. And she has been popular ever since her release.
What makes her a fan favourite, AD Carry is how good her champion design and kit are. She can snowball with a small advantage and becomes stronger as the game develops. Due to her Passive, she can also dish out a lot of damage in team fights. Players love champions that can carry and deal a lot of damage.
2. Kai’Sa (19.31%)
Kai’Sa is another fan-favourite ADC. She is extremely popular in League, even though she is not an S-tier ADC. I think that a lot of players enjoy her kit. She has a versatile and strong kit. This allows her to play quite aggressively and pick up kills. In the current meta of LoL, she has great synergy with a lot of the S-tier and strong Supports.
In League of Legends, one of the things that makes a champion popular is how strong they are in the current meta. In Ranked, you’ll usually find players picking the strong champions as often as they can. This is because it increases the players chancing of climbing on the patch.
3. Lee Sin (18.30%)
Lee Sin is one of the oldest champions on our list, and he used to be the go-to Jungler back in the day. Lee Sin is a favourite of many of the old player base, as they grew up with him. In LoL, Lee Sin is a very fun champion to play, and there are so many unique combos and plays you can make on him, which makes players keep coming back to him.
He is always good, no matter the meta. So if you main him and put some practice into learning him, you will see yourself climbing in no time at all. Practice does make perfect, though, as he is one of the more challenging Junglers to play on our list.
4. Ahri (17.26%)
We’re almost halfway through our list. Where would we be with Ahri? Ahri is currently really strong in LoL. She received some buffs a few patches ago, and ever since then, she has become a lot stronger and better. Players who main Ahri have really appreciated these buffs as she wasn’t very strong beforehand.
Ahri is a mage who has great pick ptoential. Her kit is really fun to play, and she can be good even when she is behind. So, no matter how good you are as a player, landing one E on someone could be the reason you win a team fight.
5. Ezreal (14.62%)
Another strong ADC in LoL is Ezreal. Ezreal is another fan-favourite ADC in LoL. Players all across the world love to play him due to his strong laning phase and carry potential. His kit is also extremely good, and he is fun to play.
But there is another reason why people love him. It’s down to his customizability. Ezreal has so many skins in LoL. This means you can play him with a lot of different styles. I think when a champion like Ezreal has so many options available to him, to some extent, it feels like you’re playing a different champion every game. Have a few of these skins and rotate between them, and you’ll never get bored of Ezreal in LoL.
6. Zeri (13.87%)
In all honesty, I have never gotten on with Zeri. I am not a fan of her kit, but that doesn’t mean others do not like her. Zeri was the 6th most popular champion in this patch. She can be a good ADC, especially when she is paired with a Support who wants to play aggressively and make plays. If you want to master Zeri, pick her up with aggressive support.
Zeri has a lot of carry potential. She can carry the game alone if she gets a small lead. With a small lead, you can easily carry on her due to her auto-attacks and damage output. Her Ultimate is a great tool to keep utility Supports in check, and it is good in team fights, too.
7. Viego (12.54%)
Viego is one of the best carry Junglers in LoL right now. If you’re able to get a small lead on him, you can quickly snowball that lead into a much larger lead. In LoL, a carry champion, or someone who can carry the game, is usually picked more often than a champion who isn’t very strong.
Ever since his release, this champion has seen a high pick rate, even when he isn’t notably weak or strong. But at the time of writing this article, he is quite a strong champion, and we recommend you pick him. His only problem? He’s banned quite a lot, and I don’t like his skins.
8. Caitlyn (12.48%)
Caitlyn is one of the most obnoxious ADCs to play as and against in LoL. Her play style is fun, as she can use her range advantage to bully the enemy from afar. Caitlyn, when paired with a mage Support or someone with all-in, they can be an extremely potent duo!
Another benefit to playing Caitlyn is that she is very easy and simple to play. This makes her a good pick for people who want to learn the role, as there aren’t many mechanical aspects to learn from her kit (outside of her traps). So, if you’re looking for a good, popular, and strong champion, then maybe give Caitlyn a try on this patch.
9. Aatrox (12.15%)
I’ve never seen the hype around this champion. I have never enjoyed playing him, and I think his Q hitboxes are quite annoying at best. This champion is Aatrox. Aatrox is an S-tier top laner in LoL who has performed very well for quite some time. His strength is one of the main reasons why people are playing him.
As we have suggested, a champion’s carry potential is one of the main influences on why they get picked so much. Because he is strong and you can carry on him, this gives players more of a reason to pick him in the current meta.
10. Lucian (12.01%)
The 10th champion on the list is Lucian. This is another surprise for me, as I don’t think he is that good in the current meta, and he gets outclassed by most of the meta AD Carries. But with that said, his champion is very smooth and quite fun to play.
I like his kit, and the way he auto-attacks is pretty good, too. If you don’t like how a champion plays, sounds, or looks, then you’re probably not going to play them, regardless of how strong they are.
