How Abattoir of Zir (AoZ) Works
In this guide, we’ll cover recommendations for Diablo 4 AoZ builds for each class and explain how the Abattoir of Zir works.
The Abattoir of Zir is a new form of content coming to Diablo 4 on December 5th. This is going to be a new type of dungeon, similar to Greater Rifts in Diablo 3.
You will fill a progress bar by killing mobs, and once it’s full a boss will spawn. If you manage to spawn and kill the boss within 10 minutes you will successfully complete the dungeon. If you die, you will fail the dungeon.
The Abattoir of Zir is much harder than any content that’s currently in the game, as it’s believed that a level 25 Abattoir of Zir will be the same difficulty as a 175 Nightmare Dungeon.
These dungeons not only feature the highest-level mobs in the game, but they also come with afflictions that will significantly increase the difficulty of these dungeons. However with this massive increase in difficulty, the dungeons do come with a huge reward, the Tears of Blood.
This Glyph will be best in slot for every build due to its incredible damage and its high scaling of Rare Nodes, so if you want to maximize your build’s power you will definitely want to farm out this Glyph!
How to Unlock AoZ in Diablo 4
To unlock the Abattoir of Zir you have to complete the entire Seasons Journey. While most of this will just be a simple grind, the last tier, Destroyer, is actually a bit more difficult. Many of the challenges are either difficult to do, or heavily time gated. Luckily there are a couple of easy ones that I suggest you do first:
- Labor of Love
- Avatar of Sanctuary’s Might
- Incarnate of Nightmares
- Bloodied Head, High
- Glyph Master
All of these are easily completed, and will provide a good foundation for you to fully complete Destroyer and unlock the Abattoir of Zir. The remaining two you can pick whatever you think will be easiest for you.
Best Diablo 4 AoZ Builds For Each Class
The Abattoir of Zir will require powerful builds that are able to dish out a lot of damage and bring unmatched tankiness to the table.
They need good AOE clear while also being able to single-target down bosses. With that in mind, let’s consider what we think will be the best builds for each class.
Barbarian: AoZ HoTA No Ubers
This build foundation will be taken from our popular “Gigaclap HoTa” build and improved upon in all areas concerning AoZ, making precise adjustments designed explicitly for tackling AoZ.
It’s an incredibly durable tank able to dish out some equally insane damage and on top of all that, it has no Uber Unique requirements, so it’s a great AoZ starter; that said, if you check out the builds In-Depth sections, there will be a section dedicated to how it works, how it’s played and what Ubers you should use if you have them. The build to go this season for AoZ!
Necromancer: Black River Infinimist
Although Barbarian has some incredible durability, none come close to the level of Necromancer. Spotting a nearly 100% uptime on Blood Mist, making this build almost entirely immune to damage while having incredible AOE damage scaling from Black River, that is where this build shines entirely.
Its shortcomings will come apparent on contact with your first boss, where it’ll perform slightly worse in kill speed than other classes, but not impossible, but the value of 100% immunity is substantial, especially in AoZ.
Druid: Auto Shred Bulwark
The Druid is an absolute machine in Diablo 4, and its ability to tackle AoZ this season will be equally impressive. Keep in mind the build requires Andariel’s Visage to function fully, but once obtained, it’s an absolute powerhouse and a build our content creator, AceofSpades, is currently using to get Rank 1 Druid.
The build’s damage output is likely far above most other builds, as it makes use of a technique known as “Double Dipping”, which involves applying multiple poison stacks using Poison Creeper and Shred.
Rogue: Poison Twisted Blade
The Rogue, and specifically this build, can be incredibly mobile, dish out consistent damage, and rely on its innate tankiness will perform well. It can choose its fights and only clears when it’s efficient. The build revolves around utilising the Poison Imbuement for damage and resetting its cooldown using Bursting Venoms.
Sorcerer: Ball Lightning – Zeus Tank
Ball Lightning’s damage output this season is almost unmatched. The spell itself scales extremely well off of attack speed, which really buffs the damage output of Sorcerer compared to other skills.
Due to this fact, there is an intense focus on durability with this build, as the damage is already covered easily with the Zeus Tank in particular. We’re able to sport a 100% uptime on Unstable Currents and allow for all the benefits that come with it.
In Conclusion
The Abattoir of Zir will represent challenging but rewarding content end game content that should keep players reaching the end game with something to do for quite a while, while also bringing a little bit of competition to Diablo 4.
Our content creators will be keeping these builds up to date for AoZ content as the season progresses and as they progress themselves higher into the tiers, so be sure to check our Diablo 4 meta builds often as we play through the new content and keep them up to date!
