New Champion’s Ability Guide: Ambessa

Ambessa is the news champion Riot Games has created! Ambessa will be heading to the PBE very soon, and she will see a worldwide release on patch 14.22 (which is in around 2 weeks). Ambessa is a champion with a lot of dashes. She is an AD champion who will most likely be played in a solo lane. She uses energy like Zed, and has a ton of dashes!

She is going to be the third, and potentially final champion to be added to League of Legends in 2024 and Season 14.

Here at Mobalytics, we will be creating different articles on how to play Ambessa, as well as any news or information we find out about her. You can find more information on her by heading over to the Mobalytics Blog.

Ambessa Ability Breakdown

Here’s a basic breakdown of Ambessa’s abilities. Remember to read the tooltip when you load up the game and play her for the first time as it will have a more detailed breakdown.

Ambessa’s Passive is Drakehound’s Step

When attacking or using a movement speed ability while casting an ability will force her to dash a small distance. Casting an ability empowers her next ability too.

Ambessa’s Q is Cunning Sweep / Sundering Slam

Ambessa sweeps her weapon in a semicircle in front of her. Hitting an enemy will transform the next cast, causing her to slam her weapon in a line in front of her.

Ambessa’s W is Repudiation

She gains a shield and slams the ground. She will gain additional damage if she blocks any non-minion damage (like towers or enemy attacks).

Ambessa’s E is Lacerate

Ambessa whips her weapon around herself, dealing damage and slowing enemies. Due to her Passive, she will dash and use the ability again.

Ambessa’s Ultimate is Public Execution

Ambessa blinks to the furthest enemy and suppresses them. Shen then slams the enemy into the ground and stuns them.

My Thoughts on Ambessa’s Kit

First off, I think the kit is quite interesting. She has different parts of other champions in her kit. For instance, her Q reminds me of K’Sante, her Ultimate reminds me of K’Sante, her W reminds me of K’Sante. She has parts of her kit and animations that look like Kayn, and a bunch of other champions too.

HEARTSTEEL Kayn Splash

She is a copy paste in my opinion, but she is unique as she has a lot of different things we have seen on other champions. Her Passive is different and basically makes her stronger in all-ins and extended fights.

Her Q is going to be one of her main trading abilities (and it reminds me of Kayn’s Q). This and her Passive will help her in extended trades and help her all-in her enemies.

There is nothing really to say about her W; it is just a shield that can be used in all-ins. But her E is more interesting. The animations remind me of Kayn and Sylas, and it looks to be quite good for all-ins.

Sylas Base Splash

Her Ultimate is really the main “unique” thing about her kit. However, again it is a copy-paste of K’Sante’s Ultimate in that you dash across the screen. I think it could be good at isolating targets, especially the enemy ADC, who might be stood at the back.

Ksante Splash

Due to her strong all-in and skirmishing power, her Ultimate will be really important in late-game team fights, and she could all-in the enemy Support or ADC alone.

All-in-all, I think her kit can be really good and if you’re used to playing champions with strong all-ins and 1v1 potential, then she will be the champion for you. She has a lot of kill pressure and if you aren’t afraid to go hard, give her ago. But, if you don’t like to fight a lot, I don’t think you should play her.

In Conclusion

What do you think of her kit? Are you happy to see another champion with a billion dashes? Let us know in the comments section below. Personally, I can’t wait to try her as I feel like her gameplay and character style are quite fun.

And that basically sums up a basic review of her kit. Make sure you head over to the Mobalytics Blog as we will be creating more guides for the new champion soon!
